Newest alpha version. You can update it manually
>>
Recently put LineageOS on a phone without gapps, so I might have more interesting answers than most. I'll try to avoid repeats.

OpenLauncher - Not as bloated as Apex Launcher, but I can still open my drawer with a gesture, so it's pretty good.
ConnectBot/Irssi ConnectBot - An SSH client and a fork of it to make using irssi over ssh more friendly with some added gestures, quick connect, etc. For an SSH client it isn't quite as comfy as juicessh, but when combined with Hacker's Keyboard, it does the job.
Hacker's Keyboard - coming from SwiftKey, My muscle memory I'd pretty fucked on this, but the compact 5 row layout is really comfy.

I'd have a full list and/or scrot if the phone was on me, but it's currently just a secondary phone while I continue to find all the apps I need for a daily driver.

To extend on this, I'm still looking for a Hangouts replacement to name a major one. Preferably somehow a FOSS app that can communicate with actual Hangouts, since I haven't yet convinced my friends to move chats yet. I got like 1/4 of them on Wire, but we don't actually use it regularly. Thinking of exploring Matrix.

>>
>>61556510
i came to this thread when googling for solution.for anyone wondering, native call recording do exist in the lineage os all you gotta do use some kind of apk editor open com.android.dialer in system apps and edit res/values/bools.xml search for call_recording_enabled and replace its value to 'true' then reboot phone. you will get three dot menu in call screen and record call button in there.

I tried to do this. But the apk editor is used apparently didn't edit the current apk and made a new one. So for some reason I couldn't uninstall com.android.dialer and reinstall edited apk. Any idea what i am doing wrong?

Lost part 1. not writing it again.
Monety - See your imaginary value (money) converted into another imaginary value. 21st money isn't based on anything but the belief it's a resource to use. Save from tourist traps.
NewPipe - Mimimal Youtube
Nextcloud - Open source file storage. Install YUNOHOST for an easy installation of nextcloud and open a port on your home router. Depending on your threat model this would change.
oandbackup - backup data
Obscuracam - blur images and remove metadata. Make it harder to track the photographer. Have to use the default gallery or phone camera app else things break.
Openshift - change the RGB values in the LEDs your android device uses. Decreasing blue makes it easier on the eyes in low light.
Orbot - Tor proxy
Orfox - hardened firefox for Tor(Orbot)
OsmAnd~ Offline maps. Never get lost anywhere because GPS is calculated on the phone itself as minimum of 3 satellites around the earth is constantly broadcast all the time due the US public money. The GPS receiver in the phone looks at the signals coming from 3 different satellites to determine the location, therefore 1) GPS doesn't track the users and 2) everyone in the world doesn't pay for it. It uses the information from OpenStreetMaps. Use with Brouter as the routing algorithm to get more efficient bike routes.
Pixelknot - hide information in text. Some websites compress images and breaks the algorithm for the hidden messages (I think. not 100% sure). Fun when works.
QuickDic - offline dictionary.
Rumble - Off-the-grid social network. Messages are distributed over the LAN or Bluetooth. It doesn't send messages over the wide network like you would do to connect to facebook therefore impossible to sensor and is very private.
Shopping list - save money by avoiding the psychological manipulation shops use on their customers to buy things they didn't go out for.
>>
Part 3
Silence - Extremely secure and private chat over SMS for Android devices. Anyone controlling the towers will know who you are talking to because of metadata however it's better than nothing. A friend might be poor and stupid because the price per message over data is usually cheaper than the price per message over sms.
Smarter WI-FI Manager - Disables wifi when the device isn't near a wi-fi router by scanning for cell towers. This prevents very low cost tracking and attacks for wi-fi
Survival Manual - Literally a survival manual with information taken from publicly published material from the US Army.
Tasks - todo list. can sync to a server too.
Termux - Better terminal and has a package manager.
Transportr - Find timings for public transport.
Yelp Store - Open source google play store.
>>
>>61557680
>Shopping list - save money by avoiding the psychological manipulation shops use on their customers to buy things they didn't go out for.

GPS is highly accurate for the US, but if possible I'd find a regional alternative - either Glonass or whatever the fuck euros use. Those are more accurate in their regions of origin.

Honestly no. Half the time you have to really dig for proper firmware and you need to juggle so many versions of Odin. Although thats just samsung.

My previous phone was an S3. I rooted it as soon as I got it (2013?). I now have an LG G5. I'd like a proper Adblocker and Firewall and of course to excise some bloat. Anyway, to be honest, it doesnt seem as urgent as it did 4 years ago

Idk why you would use the grid view
>>
>>61577119
To not have to scroll past miles of shitposting threads while searching for something good?

In grid view I see 9-12 threads at the same time, I can read the beginning of their title, a snippet of their description, and a thumbnail of the picture. I can tap the text to read the full title and post as well as the last few posts just like on non-grid view, or I can tap the pic to view it (and even download it if I want), or I can click straight through to the thread.
>>
>>61577119
The grid view is the best. That still looks really ugly by the way.

I tried to zip a bunch of photos, and "Amaze has stopped working". However, if I didn't touch anything, it would actually still be working in the back - I'd just tap "restart app" once the zipping notification went away.
So it did the job, but it could really use some extra work.

Why is everyone in this thread a super-casual? LineageOS/CM is babbie's first custom ROM and bloated as shit.
>>
Using OOS, it feels clean and lean.
>>
>>61589348
What do you suggest?

I jump from ROM to ROM. Lineage is usually everyone's first, but I quite liked Tesla and pureNexus. It depends on the phone. just browse your phone's XDA page and start lurking.
>>
>>61587995
Why would you wait over 10 hours to answer to someone to try to insult them? Is this how kids this days win their interweb fights?
>>
>>61589348
Because lineage is the one that supports the most devices, specially in older models it can be pretty much the only up to date and stable rom.

Yes, but you waited a really long time to reply to a post that, according to the timestamps, was made less than 10 minutes after yours. So either, you are a skiddie that got offended by that post and wanted to insilt that person, but you are to much of a coward, even for internet fight standards, or you're a skiddie that got so offended by a post made over 10 hours ago that you couldn't resist to answer with a meme.
