How does Mommy do it?
She buttfucked intel, and will buttfuck nvidia in a few days.
>>

She used a strap on.
>>

>>
>>61478324
It's the first time AMD has good management in like over 10 years.
>How does Mommy do it?
Laser-like focus and delivering everything roughly on track.
AMD is doing almost everything perfectly besides RTG marketing (but it's basically ATi in everything but name so that's given).

>>

Raja came on board after like %60 of Vega was finished, we'll see if Raja is trash or not with Navi.

Vega is mostly his job and it looks good so far where it works.

You know what's weird?
It's gonna perform gameworks features better than nvidia cards because it can CHEW through geometry like nothing else.
But I don't know if 64 ROPs are enough.

Anyone got sexy pics of her? Like legit ones?

They should be, ROPs are usually overkill on both AMD and Nvidia.

Man using HBM2 certainly helps to trim down die size a lot.
They pack 4k ALUs and a beefy scheduler into 484mm^2 die.

>>
>>61480149
I doubt it'll actually actively consume 375watts unless it's clocked to the moon OOTB if Vega's power gating is anything like Zen.

gtfo
>>
>>61480183
Right now it trades blows (and outperforms) full GP102 when it works, and full GP102 is more powerful than 1080ti.
>>

Vega != Zen, not by a long shot.
>>

It shares some IP though.
Powr gating is not exclusive to CPUs.
>>

True, but I think there were some tests on the power draw, and they weren't phenomenal by any means.
>>
>>61480252
Because power gating is disabled. It pours 1.2volts for no reason.
In fact goymennexus managed to undervolt it and hit 1600mhz at 280watts of power.
It's impressive considering its 4k ALU card.
>>

and it performed better because there was less thermal throttling too

It maybe about first production run, they are cranking the voltage up to guarantee majority of the chips hit the necessary performance targets. Presumably they will bin consumer gaymen cards

Any speculation on how the interconnect is going to work in this thing? Are they adding extra i/o lanes to this thing? 24lanes would allow connections both ways across the cube and to the host/cpu. Would tie in with radeonSSD with 16x host bus and 2 4x for the two nvme drives. All running IF over pcie phy of course.

You'll be disappointed because those chinks at RTG China are simply no good. It's up to Lisa to hire a competent team for Raja. A leader only touches on all areas and gives high-level direction. If the team can't execute on the details then it's the team that's the problem. I can't say for certain with hardware design but on the software side of things I've been part of more than a few teams that dragged down a good leader because of problem children and getting rid of them isn't just easy when you're continuously updating an ancient, monolithic project and you need to bring a fresh recruit up to date while still delivering frequent releases.
>>
>>61480612
But Vega looks good.
In fact it's the first balanced Radeon since fucking Tahiti.
So was Polaris despite only having minor tweaks to GCN.

It wasn't Lisa Su or Raja Koduri who designed Zen processor architecture. It was Jim Keller named microprocessor engineer. He is probably the greatest and well known processor architect of all time. He's also co-inventor of the x86-64 processor architecture. He has also designed the ARM processors a Apple iPad's and iPhones use.

Here's some processor architectures that Jim Keller has designed:

- AMD K7
- AMD K8
- AMD K12
- AMD Zen
- Apple A4
- Apple A5
- x86-64
- HyperTransport
- Infinity Fabric (successor of HyperTransport)

>But Vega looks good.
Even if it somehow matches the 1080TI with magic drivers it's competing with a product that monopolized its performance bracket for like a year. A team that consistently delivers months late isn't going to get better without serious changes.
>>
>>61480674
He's also the DEC Alpha dude and no he's not Zen designer. Mike Clark is. Keller was busy managing both teams and doing K12.

Now, please present your argument as to how it is logically possible that Vega FE performs like a p6000 in geometry bound pro workloads, while performing like a 1080 in games.

Also note that the following Vega uarch features are presently disabled in the gaming drivers: Primitive Shaders, Tile Based Rasterization, HBCC, AVFS, ACG

So, unless you intend to argue that ALL of Vega's new uarch features are broken in silicon and cannot be enabled, I don't see how it's possible to predict much of anything about how Rx Vega will perform in games with all of those features enabled???

Diversity of minds is invaluable.
Diversity based on skin color for marketing shekels and social currency is not.

A considerable number of companies in the valley have flawed hiring practices which leads to a lack of innovation and valuable idea share. The least of all factors in this is skin color.

Things rise and they fall in accordance with times and the cyclical nature of the universe. Nothing in it is above this law.

Attempting to blame their fall on race based hiring as if minorities are making the decisions within the company only points out your own flawed and biased views of the world.

Try harder next time.

As was mentioned before, Mike Clark was the senior engineer on Zen and he still works at AMD. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UasmBgBLznw

Suzanne Plummer is another engineer on the left.

Jim Keller was mostly in charge of overseeing the Zen and K12 teams (K12, which were ARM server CPUs, were sidelined in favor of Zen)

It won't be even better than 1080. This is even worse than Fury X because at least Fury X was sometimes competing with Nvidia's best offer at the time which was 980 Ti.

Remember that Fury X is also 10% faster than 980 Ti in Doom while being 30% slower in games like GTA5. If Vega is 10% faster than stock 1080 in Doom you can expect the same shit happening again in all those normie games like PUBG, modded Skyrim or GTA5 that people still play to this day.

>>
>>61492721
I said contender, not "competitor", you dumb heap of shit. they perform vastly differently. the comparison is meant to highlight the fact that Intel's uarch is still significantly ahead of AMD's. yet Ryzen sells much, much more than Bulldozer did. can you work that shitty brain of yours and try to figure out why? I'll give you all the time you need.
>>
>>61492808
>contender, not "competitor"
Not him, butyou are getting a little triggered by 2 words that mean basically the same thing.
>>
>>61493081
as far as I understand it, "contender" implies the feasibility of winning and "competitor" does not. even though the 1700 and 7700K might be competing for your money, they're not contending for leadership in the same areas. the difference in single and multi threaded performance is vast in both cases.

similarly, Vega as an architecture would be competing with Pascal (and Volta) but not contending for "fastest graphics card on the market", the fabled halo product. winning in that category isn't necessary for Vega to be a success, although the bad press would definitely hurt.

it's possible I have an erroneous conception of what these words mean, and if that's the case then at least now I've properly expressed myself.
>>
>>61493221
>winning in that category isn't necessary for Vega
Oh boy it is. Halo sells the mainstream.
>>
>>61493247
it wasn't necessary for Polaris to sell well. it's not necessary for Vega to sell well.

I'm not saying it's not important. it's just not vital.
>>

for rational people it is not vital. however all i see is fanboys. so, in order to buttblast them, a halo product is necessary.

It did though, it was an unmitigated disaster, low sales huge development cost.

What do you mean? sure, stacked hbm dies are smaller, but gddr5x is cheap as shit and you get much better yields. you are still limited by the interposer size as well

When you think about a titan xp's 386 bit bus you can get better bandwidth with 2 stack hbm too.

There's not been a single good implementation of hbm from amd and there probably won't be a radeon group left if navi bombs

If aymd just stuck with gddr5/x and put that money into arch they might not have the literal 450w housefire that barely matches a 180w card they have now.

Yes I'm mad.

Gsync works very well in some situations where frame rates arn't stable.
Freesync doesn't work as well because it's a software solution vs a superior hardware solution.

Gameworks and physX are both junk
Crysis 3 was full of tesselation on objects that are inside maps for no other reason than to cripple AMD.

Even nvidia knows this. That's why they've been branching out into other markets cause they know they can't keep getting away with rebrands and amd is changing the game and partnering up with more and more game devs.
Amds out for blood and we are just beginning to see the motions of their masterplan being put in place.

It's not about memory footprint.
It's about the die size.

Less motherfucking PHYs on die.
You need a fuckton of DDR PHYs for 384bit bus.

Fuck dude check your spelling I dont give a fuck if you're not a native speaker

Also latency matters dick when the throughput is massive.

Nobody is wanting less DDR interfaces at the expense of heat, power and performance. fucking lmao. Aw god. that's funny.

It's a meme anon, wake up.

That was Crysis 2
Crysis 3 tessellation was pretty much nothing

explain what happened here?

>>61497548
>AMD can't into tesselation
>Crysis 2 release
>Large amounts of useless/overkill tesselation
>Conclusion
>Corporate conspiracy 2: The Nvidia jew
Honestly no idea why to this day
My theory is stupid developers typing in wrong numbers for tesselation metrics cause I've done the same a countless number of times
>go to type 200.00 for the tesselation factor
>oops extra 0
>2000.00

don't try to argue with those retards, they think vega is broken on hardware level for games, but not on workstation tasks
>>
>>61497638
What workstation task takes advantage of the gaming specific enhancements Vega supposedly has baked in? I'll wait.
>>
>>61497832
creo 3.0. it is pure geometrical and vega fe beats quadro 6000 in that test.
