The SEO is awfully inefficient, even .cx and .eu show before. At the beginning we had pantsu on 1st page, even when .si was launched it was still ahead, then you did shit and it was relagated after the 10th page since late may/early june and it was never fixed.
A few weeks ago searching for only "pantsu" would show pantsu.cat on the 1st page in the top 5 results, it was sufficient as a reference, no need to keep the nyaa name, then shit happened again and it vanished in the depths.
Searching for "nyaa" on google jp would return pantsu on the 1st page, it's no longer the case.
The SEO couldn't be worsen furthermore, I don't know the variation of the results between countries but I don't see a single effort to resolve this matter.

Oh I agree absolutely ad revenue is important to sites like 4chan and passes barely keep this site alive or any other as it ism especially ad clicks. Moot even complained awhile back that 4chan barely even makes any money back and barely breaks even. They even said they might put things behind a paywall like gifs and large image files because those are big enough to hog space. Also to add to the irony is I always see it in every thread "why is it so slow!? Why is it having maintenance!?" It's because they are overloaded and they do not have the server space to hold up 2 million NEETS per month. Even YouTube is going to be in big trouble if not enough people pay for YouTube Red per month.

I try to turn off ublock for things like KissAnime,4chan or pantsu because those sites have learned to place ads where they are not seen that much and are non intrusive. More sites are trying to do that now.

On the other hand I can understand having things like that on for YouTube ads because there is like 5 or 10 per long video and they really need to keep it to two or less that are 30 seconds long. But either way I do agree it's costly and it's a lack of education.

The whole point of pantsu is to scrape and archive the biggest database possible that can easily be reuploaded and cloned. A scraper scrapes at very regular intervals and again, identifying that the IP belongs to pantsu is nothing hard, it's not like a scraper look anything like a normal client. Yes, that's what happens, but when that happened the scraper never expected garbage data to be fed in the first place so the duplicate prevention (based on torrent hash) didn't prevent the garbage data from going to since garbage data is comprised of random data

If you want to find better video quality, "Anime Raw" is the right category to go, and take a look on mediainfo, especially the bitrate in video / audio, normally higher is better. Mediainfo can be found on AniDB, or maybe Pantsu can implement this function XD. (like request mediainfo text file while upload)

Then find the subtitles, or extract them from a translated BD-mkv release by using ffmpeg.

I'd just like to add that this info can be found in the "Encoding settings" field of the video section of the mediainfo. Also, it is usually better if instead of bitrate you can find a "crf" or "cqp" entry listed. Normally any value of crf/cqp below 18 will be better than any bitrate. Failling that, any bitrate above 4000 may be ok, too... That is assuming all the option's encoders knew what they were doing, otherwise you will get filtering errors (banding, artifacts, interlacing, etc., etc.) which you could try fixing on playback but simply trying to find another -better- RAW is generally worthy. Essentially the same thing currently. Sure, pantsu does get quite a bit of downtime however we are working on it, pantsu isn't trying to be just be a nyaa replacement but something better than nyaa was. It doesn't justify the downtime sure but we hope to have that permanently fixed soon with our new servers.
