They're only useful for 20 - 1000 Hz response and for comparing two headphones both measured by that site with one another. Their compensation curve is very strange and doesn't accurately represent 1000 Hz+ response.

Why do Sennheiser users hate treble?
>>
I honestly don't get the shilling wars going on around here. Sennheiser are fine, but they're artificially overpriced and the mid-high tier (HD600/650) aren't exactly the second coming of christ, only a competitive ~200$ pair of headphones.
Beyer are fine as well, and usually can be gotten for a lot cheaper, and while the sound signature is not "neutral" (nevermind no one being able to fully agree on what that means), it's fine enough for most people.

Why can't people just enjoy what they have ?

(And I don't seem them mentioned, but I'll do, my K701 are good enough in that comparison, but they seems to have slightly changed when moving production from austria to china.)
>>

Why do people shit on spotify? I don't have access to private trackers so unless it's on rutracker I'm not getting it in and sometimes shit that is on rutracker is only in mp3.
I pay for spotify premium instead which gives you 320kbps.
I thought 320 was supposedly indistinguishable from lossless? I would of course prefer the lossless because storage is trivial now but I feel like spotify is pretty great.

It depends, if you own a pair of Sennheisers, they are so muddy that you can't tell the difference. A pair of Beyerdynamics are very revealing and you can easily tell the difference between lossy and lossless.

Hello . i have a pair of fidelio x2 and i really love them

however lately i have been noticing a small pop/crackle on small noises, when changing the volume. also when the central air conditioning turns on theres a slight pop

is this an issue with the headphones themselves? is it because its plugged into the mobo directly? maybe a driver issue?
>>
Hey all, I'm looking to invest in a new pair of headphones. I've got Sennheiser HD 598s right now. They're alright, but I want a more robust experience. A tasteful amount of bass, more warmth, that sort of jazz. I have a Sony AWZ-A17, and a Google Pixel XL I also listen to music on my desktop.

It would be wonderful if someone could recommend a good pair to me,and perhaps a portable DAC, and amp for my desktop. Sorry if this asking too much.

Best wishes!

Just the usual, have near field monitors on my list for quite some now, but it's not very high on my priorities list.
>>
>>61193400
Neat. I plan on moving in a few months, maybe I can get some close field monitors then, and jam them into magni2uber's preamp out.
LSR305 is what I have in mind.
>>
>>61193371
Maybe upgrade to HD600 for even more well balanced sound, including an improvement in bass.
Or, if what you're looking at is something more v-shaped, I'd suggest k712.
As for amps, if you've got no such thing, I'd suggest a fulla2. It's a nifty featureset, cheap, usb, yet good performing dac+amp that makes a really good choice for a first such device.
>>
>>61193410
>LSR305 is what I have in mind
Same, still seems like the best option for the price, will probably just plug it on my focusrite, there are better Dacs imo, but it's being good enough.
>moving in a few months
Cool, where will you be going?
>>
>>61193370
Dirty power, affected by external power adjustments.

You can either get a power filter for you equipment (note: this filters A/C power in addition to the normal functions surge protectors provide)
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B003BQ91Y6/

Or a UPS.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000FBK3QK/

Or you can get a dedicated DAC/AMP. However, if air conditioning is enough to drop your home's voltage whenever it kicks on, even the DAC/AMP may not prevent the effects seen by when the central air conditioning turns on.

If you have a laptop, which is on battery, try listening to music on that for extended periods of time. If nothing weird happens, chances are the headphones themselves are fine, and the laptop (being on a consistent voltage from battery power, effectively acting as a filter for direct A/C power) demonstrates that with the right equipment the same can be had for your PC too.

what the fuck do you use headphones for if you dont want them to do that?
>>
>>61193784
>>61193806
>today's popular music
It's produced so it sounds somewhat good from any source, studios wouldn't want their music to only sound right from certain types of transducers, so if you like how it sounds with more bass or closer to neutral that's fine, but it doesn't mean your headphone is more appropriated.
In fact, the circle of confusion kind of guarantees that you will never hear it exactly how it was produced, so unless every studio starts using equipment that sounds the same there will never be an ideal headphone to listen to things.

Correct. Now let's assume producers have this same goal in mind for consumers, to let them hear audio accurately. That would mean they'd optimize their music to the most popular listening device. Beats, in other words. So go buy some beats. Faggot. QED
>>
>>61193905
>let's assume
No need to assume that, it's a fact that producers work so that their music sounds somewhat good on anything, "The Art of Mixing" by David Gibson is one good source on that, but you can look up for other engineers who will say the same. Hell, a good portion of what caused the loudness war was making everything hearable on any shitty speaker.

During our time together, I had learned about his general cynicism and misanthropy but also his irreverent, self-deprecating style of humour and his ability to show compassion toward those who shared his "feels". What had started as a journey into the "dark side of the internet" had become a poignant investigation into the lives of wayward young men. With no community to fall back on and plenty of free time to spend online, they had forged an alliance not out of common interest, but a common sense of displacement. Although they have been attacked in the media as Nazis, perverts and nihilists, the picture I was presented with was one of loneliness and desperation. Reminder to take care of your ears, throat and nose /hpg/
I'm just coming off of a terrible sinus infection that happened because I got a throat infection and pretty much ignored it until it went away on its own a couple days later.
It was fucking maddening. My ears were clogged with mucus from the inside, which made everything sound muffled and distant. My own voice sounded like I was underwater.
I could hear my own body functions and breathing drove me fucking mad if there were no other noises around to drown it.
And don't even get me started on the fucking ringing.
This shit lasted for some good three months, two of those under daily medication.
Remember to take care.

MK5 is more neutral but it's a bit bright since it has a treble peak. It's a matter of personal preference. I think the HF5 is better, others will prefer the MK5. >>
>>61198041
also, is there really no difference between flac and 320kbps mp3?
>>
>>61198083
As far as playback, not really. However, if you plan on editing the file in any way and want to maintain fidelity, you will want to use flac so that you are not degrading the audio via re-encoding.
>>
>>61198018
The only practical reason to get a tube amp is if you can identify even order harmonic distortion in a blind test and subjectively like its sound. Otherwise, they're either less accurate than solid state or equivalently accurate but higher priced than solid state, all while being less reliable. They're absolutely inferior unless you can hear and enjoy even order harmonic distortion.

ALC1220 question. Is it possible that when you change "Low Impedance" to "High Impedance" mode output impedance of mobo also changes?

I got the DT770 and it sounds kind of weird. I am able to get enough volume out of it but the sounds is kind of uneven like certain parts of a song are loud while other parts are low. Is this because of the V frequency response? I end up having to turn down the volume to avoid ear piercing treble but that results in the overall volume being low.
>>
>>61200043
Good luck finding a review on that. Realtek probably won't even have a datasheet of any kind available for the public.

>sounds is kind of uneven like certain parts of a song are loud while other parts are low
Sounds like the recording is shit or your soundcard is damaged. Have you tried another source and does it appear with every music?

The bass in HD600 extends lower. With the speakers, you'll be missing the 20-60Hz range completely.
>>
>>61200716
But if I added this Subwoofer later? https://voll.com.au/product/voll-s6/

The speakers I wish to buy are the Voll B44s a rebrand of the Miccas.
>>
apparently I need to upgrade from the E10K for the HD6xx. I bought it in the first place because I just want a braindead choice. I thought DAC and amps should be pretty damn basic so I don't get why there's so many to pick.

Pic related has a good deal on massdrop right now? How do I decide if this is a better deal for me than going for Made-in-America-premium Schiit Fulla2 + Modi2? I'm buying from Canada.

I just want to buy a DAC+Amp and never bother with it again.
>>
>>61200741
That'd work re: subbass.
Still, these are just plebspeakers, not monitors.
I'd look at lsr305, possibly with lsr310s, or into lsr308.
Plebspeakers aren't going to compare favorably against HD600.
>>
>>61200787
>Schiit Fulla2 + Modi2
You probably mean Fulla2+Magni2 or Modi2+Magni2.
>topping stack
How much are they asking for this thing?
I'd suggest just a Fulla2. If you ever need more power (hint: unlikely), you can always get a magni2 to go with it.
>>
>>61200818
woops yeah that's what I meant.

It's only $100 for the DAC then +$85 extra for the amp. So only $185. Cheaper than the Schiit stack with Fulla instead ($200, $250 if uber).

If I didn't need power then I would just stick with the E10K but the HD6XX is 300 ohms or something. I don't really know what the difference will be compared to my Z97 onboard audio anyways.
>>
>>61200872
>So only $185.
I'd grab the $99 fulla2 and call it a day honest.
If you needed more power, then you could add the $99 magni2. But you don't need to. Not for your HD6xx.
>>
>>61200926
I'd probably hesitate less if the Schiit wasn't named Schiit.
>>
>>61201219
The name's intentionally fun.

What's the best place to buy HD600's in America? I'd like to buy from a place that is authorized so I can get warranty if I ever need it...

Not american but amazon is always a good place to buy from. You can literally send items back for no reason whatsoever, as long as it's actually sold by amazon and not a 3rd party through them. I bought 650's just because I had to know what they sounded like compared to my 600's. I returned them through amazon via a few clicks of the mouse, and the absolute cucks sent a courier to my house to collect it the next day. That said. I'm pretty sure the 600's price has very recently sky rocketed on amazon for some reason.

>>
>>61201369
well fuck I'm sold

now all I have to decide is whether I go practical and get the Fulla 2 or go retarded and pick the Modi 2 purely because it'll match up well with the Magni 2 I might need eventually.
>>
>>61201975
In terms of sound, the Fulla 2 and the Modi 2 are both usb powered, have the same DAC chip and should sound identical. Any difference is minimal and unintentional.
Just... the fulla2 as aux inputs and is an amp too and is generally much better value than the modi2.
Then there's the modi2uber, which has actually useful extra inputs, spdif optical and coax, and is powered by a wallwart. But the metal used in the uber version is different than the one used in non-uber, so it won't match a magni2 non-uber well, appearance wise.
My take on this is to get the fulla2 unless you need spdif inputs.
Personally I own both the uber stack and the fulla2. I use the fulla at work, with HD380 Pro. As for home, see >>61190460 = me.
>>
>>61201819

I want to get a new set of 'phones, general use w/ computer. Mostly movies and music, sometimes vidya. Price range in the 150€.
I was thinking of the Beyerdynamic Custom One because of the detatchable cable. Is it any good?
I'm mostly looking for sturdyness and stuff that'll last a lifetime, rather than ultra-hi-fidelity audio.

>>
>>61203500
good choices. I've had HD598 for close to 4 years and have been gaming with them all the time.
>>
>>61203629
The snapheiser troll, ignore.
>>61203500
Pretty good advice. These are all more neutral, well-balanced and general purpose than anything beyer.
Note that these do all have detachable cable and are more comfortable, too.
I do own HD598 like >>61203680 and they're still in excellent condition, but I've upgraded to HD600 recently.
The HD600 are seriously good and will easily last decades by replacing just the pads. If any part breaks, however, they're fully modular and every part is being individually sold by Sennheiser. This is the option to go with if your focus is the long term, as it seems to be.
>>
>>61203750
Yeah don't worry about paying $90 for a shitty new headband that'll snap again after a couple months. Geez.

Don't listen to retarded sennheiser shills, they're just butthurt and doing post purchase rationalization for their built worse than chink headphones.
>>
>>61202735
Beyerdynamic Custom One (isn't it called Pro??) is good but if you'll use them at home only i say forgo the detachable cable and get the DT770 80 or 250 Ohm version.
They are exceptionally good for movies and fun gaming when only explosions etc matters and sweet Jesus they are comfortable.
Alternatively there are the more expensive Fidelio X2, their bass is less tight and they are more expensive but have detachable cables and are V-Moda BoomPro compatible. Also comfortable as fuck. Great choice, too
If you want headphones for "professional gaming" where footsteps count more than anything there are other choices.
Imho stay away from HD558, 598, etc., not good for movies and gaymen and if you ask me not as comfortable as DT770. I once tried the Sennheiser G4me Zero and didn't like them. Somewhat clampy and pads weren't nearly as good.

Do you actually notice a difference/improvement between the fulla2 and the full stack together with any headphones you have? I'm under the impression that anything past "entry-level" modi/magni/fulla is just audiophile placebo

>Do you actually notice a difference/improvement between the fulla2 and the full stack together with any headphones you have?
HD380 Pro and HD598 -> the same connected to either.
HD600 -> fulla2 sounds slighly odd (can't really straight say worse) past certain volume (somewhere between 12h and 5h). If I didn't have the stack to compare against, I would not even know. Note this is seriously loud and unlistenable for anything but short periods of time.
Magni2 needs to have gain at high to reach these volumes, as fulla2 gain is between magni2 low and high gain. I normally do keep the switch at low, as it is way more than enough.
>>
>>61200787
Why do you need to upgrade? If you think that amp on E10K will not be enough for HD650 then you are wrong.

Here's a raw K702 measurement. Judge for yourself how comparable it is to the GE measurement, since it was measured using a different dummy head.
>>
>>61204390
>Judge for yourself how comparable it is to the GE measurement, since it was measured using a different dummy head.
This being said, that 6 kHz peak should NOT be there and you definitely have a problem when any treble peaks are actually louder on a raw measurement than the ~3 kHz ear canal resonance which SHOULD be there. The K702's excessive treble is exactly why I recommend K612 over the K702; K612's treble measures close to perfect.

Can anyone recommend a decent pair of wireless headphones for out of the house?

UK/EU and under £100 preferably although I can go a little higher for better quality
