Regulating a Seiko SNE437 is easy because you don't have to! The time is always right!

As long as it isn't ingested and there's sufficient ventilation for the radon produced he'll be fine. Alpha particles are only harmful inside the body and the level of gamma exposure will be minimal with that amount.

I'd use a full HEPA respirator to be safe. HEPA was originally developed for filtering radioactive particles. You should have one in your emergency go bag anyway.
>>
>>61043275
>I'd use a full HEPA respirator to be safe.

because respirators protect against radiation
>>
>>61043327
they do. These particles are not emitting large amounts of ionizing radiation . They become dangerous when ingested. Thus preventing inhalation or ingestion prevents radiation exposure.

How do you like Spring Drive over Hi-Beat?
I'm considering getting a SBGM021 or a Snowflake vs. a number of Hi-Beat models and I can't really decide.
>>
>>61044767
Hight beat is a very acurate well made mechanical movement. Spring drive is a quartz regulated mechanical movement. it is technically interesting but i prefer high beat. really up to you

>>61044767
For me at least, the appeal of spring drive is the unusual movement. The GS high beat is a brilliantly made watch, and I suspect I'll own one eventually, but in the end the SD is a more standout collection piece for me.

Both have peerless finishing for the price range so hard to go wrong.

They're generally okay. Biggest common complaint is the lack of QC. If you get a bad watch you then have to try to go through the return process, argue about whether the condition warrants a repair, argue about whether you caused the damage, etc. I wouldn't worry about getting a fake from them for example though it's certainly possible.

Also assume the watch has essentially zero warranty. I'd it happens to stop working about two months you may be out of luck.

Most jomashop transactions go perfectly fine.

The modern OP because Rolex does not make a two tone Day Date.

In that case the Datejust. I like the old style drilled lugs, it's both more practical and it makes it feel more like a proper tool watch-y and vintage Rolex..

I'm almost done with this watch. Serviced it, got a new stem and crown, polished the crystal and relumed it. Now all I need is a strap.

It came on an OD canvas strap that's kinda poo-poo, so recommend me something that would fit the style of the watch, dial color, etc, preferably leather.

Where the fuck do I buy a Tudor from? There's a couple of jewelry stores in my city that are authorized dealers, but I guess they're going to charge MSRP. Nobody online seems to sell them except Jomashop which is sort of shifty and grey market and wants to make me wait 8 weeks. Costco has a bunch of Rolexes but not Tudor.

Am I really going to have to pay MSRP or close to it? Buying cheaper watches has never been this much of a pain in the ass.

Are super luxury brands like AP, Patek and Vacheron a meme?

I want to own at least one luxury watch and honestly, Rolex and Omega looks way better than those super luxury brands.

Though I worry about the handmade credentials of Rolex. Some say they are entirely machine made
>>
>>61052478
Haggling varies brand-to-brand. I have heard that Rolex is tough to get down, but others like Omega and Breitling can be haggled down quite a bit. See how much grey market differs from MSRP and that should give a decent idea most of the time.

Buying used is usually a much better deal. I'm not familiar with crown and caliber though. I have seen some master list of reputable used Rolex dealers floating around though.

Unless there's a Rolex or Omega you LOVE, I'd skip them and go for an A. Lange & Söhne.

>Are super luxury brands like AP, Patek and Vacheron a meme?
They're not a meme, they make watches that could easily sell for 5-8k, but they only use precious metals (gold, rose gold, platinum), so the price gets jacked up to 20k.

Take a look at Jaeger Le Coultre. They have the best movements in the high end sector (and they provide movements to many luxury brands, just like ETA does for mid range brands), and they also offer most watches in steel, which keeps the price reasonable.

Their Master Ultra Thin series is pure bliss if you like dress watches, and you can find a moonphase one in steel for 8000$ MSRP, and quite cheper gray market.

Essentially you're getting a much better, classier and more complicated watch for less than a Submariner.
>>
>>61052487
If you think the movement finishing of a Rolex or a Omega is better then A.Lange then you're fucking dumbass. And that come from an Omega owner

The average household carrying credit card debt is in the hole $16k and it's exactly this kind of thinking that gets them their. Live where you want, drive what you want, wear what you want. Never forget that you're buying the watch for you, not for them. If you can afford a rolex get it. That's a pretty good job man. Thanks for sharing. Two more questions what solvent did you use to remove the old lume? How do you physically clean up the edges with the peg wood? I am asking many questions thank you for all that you have already answered and for you time.

Which is the better buy?

LEFT - 2013 OP, approx $4,200

RIGHT - 1997 Datejust, approx $4,800

The DJ is no holes and assume it's excellent condition but it's still getting old.

Fuck I just realized this has 17mm lugs so none of my straps will fit. I want brown leather on one of my watches, but I put it next to glossy black croc and it looks fucking rad.

>>61057465
>what solvent did you use to remove the old lume?
Just scratched it off dry using pegwood. That's why I used a dust mask. Also this is a very tough enamel dial that can't really be scratched with wood and I don't want to risk damaging the print with solvents.

>How do you physically clean up the edges with the peg wood?
Just scratch that shit off with the tip.
>>
>>61057501
I personally prefer the op but it's really up to you.
>>
>>61057501
I like the left, but the right has a Jubilee bracelet. Every fucking watch from chinkshit to SARB has an Oyster bracelet nowadays.
>>
>>61045418
It really is too large. Also replace those metrosexual shorts with something a little more manly if you're gonna wear big watches.
>>
>>61057538
>I like the left, but the right has a Jubilee bracelet. Every fucking watch from chinkshit to SARB has an Oyster bracelet nowadays.

My wrists are about 6"

Maybe Jubilee is better for me
>>
>>61057560
Oyster no longer means class since every shitty watch today will have some folded tin can oyster-style bracelet. If you want to look like you're wearing a classy watch you have to look for features that aren't imitated poorly all the time.

Or if you're an antisocial recluse and don't give a shit for the opinion of the ignorant normies and only want a watch for yourself then go for the Oyster if you want to.

I have the Casio MTD 1071. The crown can go in 2 positions : half pulled and fully pulled. What I read online was the half pulled is used to change the date. But nothing happens when I rotate the crown. The only way to change the date is to fully pull the crown and shift the hour and minute hands +-24 hours. Is my watch broken?
>>
>>61057732
Maybe you're missing the position a bit. Also on these movements you'll likely only be able to change the date and not the day.

Keep trying, turning it in both directions.

I tugged on the crown when it was half way through. Tried rotating it both sides. Nothing changes.

>>
>>61057809
You're supposed to feel it click. Can you? If it clicks and you still can't move the date hand then it's fucked.
>>
>>61057855
yeah :(
Any idea how much this will cost?
>>
>>61057882
I can't remember what movement these have, either some Miyota or some SII/Seiko Epson.

Bring it back to where you brought it if it's under warranty.

One more thing: If the watch is set to near midnight right now then set it to some other time, somewhere after 4am and before 10pm then try setting the date again.

First you are probably actually autistic.. not even trying to be a dick you most likely fall on the spectrum. Second try to make yourself less autistic. Third I cannot see what watch that guy is wearing but she looks like she is wearing a night gown. That rolex could be faker than a fucking pocket pussy and a woman would never have a clue. Fix yourself or your only girlfriend is going to be /gif. She is also most likely already fucking that guy.

I have a £200 budget and I'd really like to be able to buy something vintage (1960s-1980s) which either has one sub-dial at 6 o clock or two vertical sub-dials. Something like pic related but obv not a rep and not thousands of dollars. Any particular brands produce nice, distinctive watches that can now be bought for a few hundred?
