First in for 42mm Men's watches have never been uncommon or thought of as too large since men's watches have been fabricated
true fact
fuck off ninefag
First for sexiest Seiko currently produced outside the GS line
>>61020892
not even close
>>61020926
niiiiiiiiiiiiineballlllll
don't be glib niiiiiineballllllll
what's better in the seiko diver line outside GS?
How do i measure gain/loss per day of a watch? sorry i'm kinda new to this.
>>61020892
>>61020934
how hard would it be to brush the bracelet of this thing and make it matte with light brushmarks?
>>61020944
>note the time of the watch in relation to a benchmark (atomic time)
>wait 24 hours
>see how much it deviated
>>61020934
Well in your first post you didn't say diver, now you did.
But if you want a diver specifically, you have that new 62mas remake with unfinished GS movement.
>>61020944
Look at time.gov
If yesterday you were 2 seconds ahead, and now you're 4 seconds ahead, you gained 2 seconds.
Or use wildspectra app to see possible gain/loss based on different positions.
>>61020944
>How do i measure gain/loss per day of a watch? sorry i'm kinda new to this.
You either buy a watch timegrapher for a few hundred dollars and adjust it that way
or you just zero you watch with a $10 casio then check how much your watch is off at the same time every day for awhile and adjust it like that, the second way takes longer but is just as good for the average person
>tfw regulating your Rolex with a casio
>>61020970
>Well in your first post you didn't say diver, now you did.
i said sexy, sexy means diver
I don't want an automatic, I want a reliable watch I can take off for 3 days that will still tell me the correct time when i get back
liquid solar powered sex
>>61021008
Just buy it anon, instead of posting multiple pics about it here. Surely a quartz seiko can't be that expensive.
>>61020993
https://youtu.be/kFEl9Ysu3LI
>>61021008
Another shit watch that looks like all the other.
Congratulations on your completely mediocre taste.
>>61021020
>Just buy it anon, instead of posting multiple pics about it here. Surely a quartz seiko can't be that expensive.
I just like looking at it and posting it here, don't need to buy it
if the polesmokers who post those ugly green alpine seikos every day, and that faggot with his grandpas gold rolex can spam his shit every day and ever neet can sperg his russian watch with cartoon tanks on it every day
you can look at my sexy seiko
>>61021028
I don't hate that watch, but I have never liked the Tuna shroud, I think it's weird and pretentious looking
and I don't see how it looks orders of magnituded better than the SNE437
It seems that this particular zenith might be pre 1920s
>>61021121
if it were in good working order it would be worth maybe $200
don't spend too much on it
How long does it takes for a dial to age and have patina?
Thinking of changing the black strap of my omega to a more casual strap, any recommendations?
>>61021185
Depends on how it's [ab]used, or probably the environment it's in. There are 40+ year old watches with a dial that still looks perfect.
>>61021218
>no lume
well yeah
I have seen watches from 1880 that look brand new, just gold and enamel though
>>61021101
It doesn't, he just has shit taste.
>>61021234
Not sure aging tritium lume counts as dial patina m8.
>>61021239
>Not sure aging tritium lume counts as dial patina m8.
well in my experience with rolexfags that's exactly what they mean by patina
>>61021246
Dial patina usually refers to the corrosion of the dial itself.
>>61021239
>Not sure aging tritium lume counts as dial patina m8.
an enamel dial won't really patina
>>61020739
any recs on watch winder/cases?
>>61021258
also known as oxidation or rust
>>61021258
that honestly just looks bad to me
What's the cheapest spring drive watch Seiko produces or produced?
>>61021292
Probably the landmaster, SBDB015. Last I checked it was around $2.5k new.
hey guys, how does this look on my wrist?
>>61021305
Damn, $1.5K over what I was hoping for.
Thanks Anon.
>>61021313
Too big.
>>61021292
>>61021305
is the spring drive reliable?
Is it on par with their solar or kinetic watches as far as longevity? Does it have to be serviced often?
>>61021313
im the guy arguing for big watches in the last thread
that thing is waaaaaaaayyy to big for you, and that crazy strap is not helping
>>61021314
There was never a spring drive that sold for $1k new as far as I know.
>>61021318
yeah, it's actually comically large on tiny gf's 5.5" wrist
I really don't know much about the inner workings of watches but there's something that's aesthetically pleasing even with moat movements.
This is the same pocket watch I posted in the previous thread and I've posted enough of these now. I find it cool how they are close to 100 years old, if not older.
>>61021326
It doesn't have to be serviced any more often than any other mechanical watch really. Pretty sure the manual will probably state somewhere between 5-10 years.
anyone have any experience with Kronen and Sohne? This watch looks pretty nice for the pricepoint but ive read some bad things online about them, specifically their longevity
>>61021421
seems like all the disadvantages of a mechanical without the advantages (low maintenance, months/years of reserve) of a quartz
>>61021466
but... have you seen that fucking second hand glide?
>>61021394
you can buy that shit all day long on ebay for under 100 dollars, american pocket watches of the late 1800s were mass produced and kept as mementos of relatives and of little value, just saying
>>61021478
>but... have you seen that fucking second hand glide?
no, is it that sweet?
Tbh i just need my watch to look ok and tell me what time it is and be rugged, little stuff like that is lost on me
>>61021394
honestly that's a pretty rough looking movement anon, i know you just are starting in this but that's not even sexy
>>61021466
A lot of quartz watches these days are only low maintenance because the movement is completely disposable.
>>61021497
>no, is it that sweet?
yessir. i think i'm going to pick up one of the new ones without "seiko" on the dial this year.
>>61021538
Be sure to post your SBGA211 once you get it :^)
>>61021543
i was thinking of the 39mm with the solid caseback. i've come to terms with the lack of the display back.
>>61021497
This should give you an idea for how smooth the seconds hand on a spring drive is. Technically the accutron 214 moves in tiny steps, but it's indistinguishable to the naked eye.
>>61021528
>A lot of quartz watches these days are only low maintenance because the movement is completely disposable.
and last 15 years with 0 maintenance
*cough seiko 5 cough*
>>61021617
I like my watches to tick to be honest
>>61021617
did they make any versions of these that were not just unreadable hands over a bunch of watch guts?
that thing would be cute for 15 mins but it's not a practical daily watch, too hard to read
>>61021680
Yes, lots. It's really not that hard to read either.
>>61021706
that looks much better, the previous watch looks like something a 10 year old would get out of a gumball machine
>>61021751
The 214 is a marvel of engineering, but okay.
What are some quality minimalist watches on the 100-150$ range?
>>61022764
Might as well just go to the chink source and buy a fake for $2.
>>61022764
>quality
>>61022764
fucking disgusting
Are there any watches in the Seiko 5 series with a hacking movement?
>>61023210
They're out there, look for the 4R36 movement.
>>61023249
Sweet, thanks.
why does everyone and their dogs want to get / have a speedmaster?
it doesn't look that good
>>61023307
Because it's a MAN ON THE MOON FUCKERS.
Tbh i think it look plain, if i have that kind of money i would buy a El primero instead.
>>61023307
Because >muh moon
That is despite the accutron 214 being the lunar lander's instrument clock, and the instrument clock of numerous satellites. So marketing, I guess.
>>61023346
>accutron 214 being the lunar lander's instrument clock
Maybe an instrument PANEL clock, as I don't think it was any way connected to the AGC or anything.
>>61023532
Yea, it was in the control panel.
What's the point of this hobby?
>>61023596
What's the point of any hobby or interest anon? The answer is that taking a nihilistic view is the wrong way to look at things.
>>61023596
It requires zero effort, even less than stamps or coins. Perfect for the lazy NEET of /g/, you just order ancient some junker or a Hirohito Special, take a pic of it on your bitch/fat wrist and you're done.
>"I appreciate the intricacies and craftsmanship of a mechanical watch"
>buys a rep
i am going to buy a bulova for my dad and mom. wish me luck
>>61023700
I don't own any reps, but I don't see why having one would diminish your appreciation or enjoyment of it so long as it's well made.
>>61023722
Avoid their new shit unless it's mechanical, their vintage stuff is much nicer. Also, be aware that vintage Accutrons are a bitch to service.
>>61023744
>rep
>well made movement
Oh boy, I hope I have enough smug anime girls for this one.
>>61023765
You can get reps with ETAs and whatnot.
>>61023772
ETA clones, there's a difference.
>>61023772
>So my Aventador is a rep, but it's built from an MR2. That's still a good car, right? Right?
I wish the Holocaust would happen for real this time, only with rep owners.
>>61023807
No, I mean actual ETA movements.
>>61023809
>I have no response, so I'll just shitpost
>>61023823
>paying ETA money for a fake
At this point your could have bought a 6r15 Seiko and be proud.
Reps are like Robert Downey Junior's platform shoes. As in they make you a ridiculous tool and everyone is laughing at you.
>>61021431
Literally rebranded chinkshit.
>>61023867
I wouldn't buy one, I'm just letting you know your argument is shit.
>>61023878
My argument is flawless, rep apologist.

>Aventador is a rep, but it's built from an MR2

>>61023902

Sorry, didn't know your worshiped horologic temple.
Any artwork of watches having sex with each other?
I still haven't found any.
W800h arrived today. The life of a wristlet is tough. Fits fine irl. Looks a bit big on camera but I assure you the lugs are in line with my wrist.
>>61024195
Just ordered one of these last night, it's my first watch in multiple years. How is it so far?
>>61024366

>>61024523

>>61020934
The tunas, 62MAS remake, that other remake, SKX, Sumo, the one with the sawtooth bezel. That particular one doesn't even look that good, I mean at least it's not a fucking Monster but that's about it.
>>61021267
Look at Kendal brand on Amazon, roughly $50 for 2+3 and $100 for 4+6, work pretty well.
Wolf for higher quality stuff but expensive.
Do you like the 7002? (need a new strap)
>>61024982
Even the chronograph version of the one he keeps posting is better and comes in a lot of fun colors. Honestly other than the monster it's probably the ugliest diver seiko makes.
Good morning wt
What strap should i switch to to make it casual for tshirt and jeans?
Also the watch look good on my wrist i swear, it look fucking big in the picture for some reason
>>61026115
Grey perlon.
>>61026115
It's a dress watch, you can slap a nato strap if you want to and wear it with gym shorts but it's still going to look retarded. Nice watch, by the way.
Here's a nice infographic I made like two years ago because people don't understand perspective.
Morning all
>>61026171
Considering the tiny sensor size which gives most phones lenses around 3.5mm in focal length it's even more pronounced.

those are wind up watches, he wanted quartz/kinetic/solar

I think he meant this one. I saw a pilot wearing it IRL and it looked surprisingly good.

Did they wear the accutron 214 on their wrists when walking on the fucking moon?
no
>>61026893
>muh moon walking
>>61026793
I don't like those, they are far to busy, I just want a simple diver, I don't need 47 dials on my watch when I don't even know what they do
I really don't see how adding sub dials and thinning out the strap makes it look better
>>61026793
Not trolling
you have a minute hand, then you have a sub dial with mins on it, you have an hour hand that tells you the hour, then a sub dial with a 24 hour clock, what is the point of that, in case you forget if it's am/pm? and what is the other subdial? another second hand?
what is the point of this
>>61026976
yeah and?
can you wear a 1lb dashboard instrument on your wrist?

Hey /wt/, I was washing my hands earlier today and the tap didn't have an aerator on it, so as a result water sprayed out all over the place and I got a few drops on my vintage 6309 diver. Take off the case back and remove the crown and stem, then take out the movement, pat it down with a paper towel after removing the hands. Then take the movement and place it in a bag of rice overnight. When you take it out in the morning spray it liberally with WD40 and reassemble the watch.

This is the best advice. You may read about wd-40 being a solvent that leaves behind traces of lubrication or whatever buts its all horse hit made up by the swiss giant watch makers to sell their mobious meme oil. When did you mention Buzz Aldrin in the post I replied to with the Bulova Moonwatch? You didn't, you used a picture of him and that's it.
What's the perfect everyday watch? Right now I wear an SKX007 most of the time, I want to upgrade a bit though. I'd rather stay closer to like $2000-$3000 but I have been considering a Rolex or something like that too so I guess I can stretch the budget if it's worth it. It doesn't have to be a diver, but it has to be casual and at least reasonably waterproof and on a bracelet.

gold watches are for niggers is still a meme? Maybe like those massive 50mm quartz watches you can buy at best buy for $30.
IDK, i used to feel like any gold watches were for niggers but they kind of grown on me as i get older. I'd probably put a nato or some leather straps on it instead of the gold band.

>>61030422
... you dont dive.. do you?
>>61033418
yeah but it looks cool
>>61033387
Dude thats a chronograph, it's a tool watch. It went to the fucking moon. It's meant to be worn by men of action who fly or drive fast things and need to time and do calculations.
It's like a solid gold shovel, or a gold GLOCK. That shit does not go together, it's tacky byond measure and shows the guy wearing it has no fucking idea what it is really for nor is he the kind of man who should be wearing it.
Stainless was fine for Buzz and Neil while on the fucking moon but you need yours to be solid gold
right
>>61032959
I love the older Explorers but the current model is really ugly. An 114270 is actually something I was considering, I kind of wanted to buy new though. I might see if any stores near me have some used ones I can look at in person, and I'll figure out how much overhauling it would cost.
>>61033458
well i dont need it. I have the 2002 Micheal Schumacher Speedy as my sole watch. Never really looked at gold watches as, like many others stated, tacky and for niggers.
Some of them have grown on me though, started to like them. Just wanted opinions on it.
>>61033428
but.. you dont drive.. thats like buying a car but you cant drive.. or buying a television but you dont have electricity.. or buying a barbell but you dont lift weights.. or buying peanut butter but you're allergic to peanuts..
One guess as to the country this watch was manufactured in
>>61033509
Don't buy a solid gold watch unless you are a nigger or a hairy asshole
>>61033509
... you don't fly do you..
>>61033537
i was a pilot in the USMC for 5 years and now I fly for a commercial airline
>>61033515
yeah but most people who actually wear these watches seldom utilize them for their actual purpose
>>61033515
>but.. you dont drive.. thats like buying a car but you cant drive.. or buying a television but you dont have electricity.. or buying a barbell but you dont lift weights.. or buying peanut butter but you're allergic to peanuts..
I wear a diver daily. I work construction and my watch gets wet and beat up.
Divers have become "beater" watches for people who need a watch that can take abuse and be dunked in water if needed
office type watches cant take the abuse I throw at them, so I buy a diver. There should be another category of rugged affordable mechanicals but there basically is not.
>>61033551
uh huh right and when was the last time you computed a speed based on travel time or measured distance based on speed? never? thats like buying a bobcat but you dont use it for construction or farm work, you simply just drive it around
>>61033570
uh huh and the construction job, it requires you to dive to upwards of 200m below sea level does it now? maybe you should get a construction watch not a divers watch, you have you careers and equipment all mixed up
am I gonna find a real life diver who doesnt use a divers watch but instead dives into the sea with a fucking shovel?
>>61033574
if the guy is a legit former USMC pilot and still flies he gets to wear whatever he fucking wants
as long as it does not have faggy diamonds on it or something, he's the one we should be asking what is ok to wear
>>61033574
i don't know what you're getting at. what watch would you rather me get? I don't understand the hostility.
>>61033567
uh.. so this board is typically handicapped in the mentally fucked in the head way?
>>61033601
>uh huh and the construction job, it requires you to dive to upwards of 200m below sea level does it now?
No it does not pole smoker, however an office mechanical will not take dirt and mud and being submerged daily for long
as i said there should be another classification for "rugged mechanical" besides diver, but there is not
deal with facts
>>61033605
he's not a pilot he's lying
>>61033617
prove you are a pilot, take a picture of your flying cap with a timestamp

>>61033633
>he's not a pilot he's lying

>>61033633
i don't have to prove anything, did i open this conversation boasting about my career? You asked me if I fly and I answered. Fuck off NEET.
>>61033659
I like that watch's look OK, it's not a mechanical watch, it's quartz so you kind of missed the point, and it has a diver bezel but whatever you got close
>>61033646
No they were talking shit about ALL gold watches, this is obviously acceptable, although your hairy fucking hands aren't, fucking shave that shit you look like bigfoot in a suit, talk aboout gross
>>61033646
>>61033646
>The funniest part of your autistic rage is that actual divers don't even wear watches anymore.
..uh yes they do
you can also wear a divers watch when you personally swim or dive for recreational purposes
>>61033703
so you are saying that you should only buy a certain watch if you have a direct, daily use for it?
>>61033646
>actual divers don't even wear watches anymore.
so you have never gone diving, i see
>>61033664
haha lying fuck caught, just as expected
>>61033692
>i like that watch
you can buy it for $35 at wal-mart
you're welcome, now sell your divers watch (since you dont dive) and buy a couple of these
>>61033725
Yes, or only wear said watch when its use is being used
i dont walk around with a hammer in my hands all day as I only have it in my hands when I am using said tool
I like diver watches because they are simple, just time and date. Have lume and wont fuck up if I knock them around a little or take a shower with the watch on
stay mad
>>61033731
They don't. They wear dive computers
>>61033733
>you're welcome, now sell your divers watch (since you dont dive) and buy a couple of these
I like mechanical watches. I have told you this 3 times.
how many times does someone have to tell you some simple small thing before you comprehend
>>61033733
you actually think someone cares about what a bunch of weaboos think about him on a message board so much that they would feel compelled to prove something to someone.

yeah but you are a little bitch and never use a hammer
face facts, I can smell a pussy like you a mile away
>>61033780
then buy a mechanical construction watch, not a divers watch, you are not a diver
>>61033783
no but i think he would say he was a pilot to convince said person he's allowed to wear the watch when in reality he is not a pilot
>>61033733
I literally couldn't give less of a fuck if you believe me or not buddy. Like I said, you asked me and I answered. I don't owe you anything and the fact you think I do is hilarious to me.
>>61033772
I am a scuba diver and I wear a regular diver watch as a backup to my computer, so does everyone I know in real life who I dive with
and you would know this if you ever went under water or outside, which you dont

Yes they're overpriced, but that's true of most of the multi-kilobuck watches you'll find. Rolexes also happen to be genuinely well made too.

>who make things in house
as opposed to exported to China? genuine question

i have one. for a cheap mechanical the movements are good. i wear mine every day.
dont buy the metal strap they are literally made of shit.
apart from that it seems to loose a minute a week, but even other watch guys like it and it looks like a 200 quid watch.
if you like the look and brands don't mean anything to you there is worst things to buy.
I got mine as a birthday present from my father, a watch guy. he likes them. it looks fancy but if you smash the face or anything its not that big of a deal.

Any suffice magnetic force would fuck up pretty much any watch. Including the milgauss. What a shitty thing to advertise lol
>>61037238
Omega makes plenty of watches that keep chronometer spec in magnetic fields of more than 1.5 Tesla. Please tell me when you run into that level of magnetic field on a daily basis.
Also, magnetic force != magnetic field strength.
