Thanks anon, that was the image I was talking about. Until something radically changes about Android sometime soon, this will be the trend. Most phones are lucky to even get a single major update to Android, little alone two. I have the Droid Turbo 2 which came stock with Lollipop and was amazed when after months after release I not only got Marshmallow, but also recently got Nougat as well.

I have an s8+ and I fucking hate it. I'm going back to my htc10. The fingerprint reader sucks, dixby button sucks, the resolution is cool at first but no apps even use it. Facial recognition on it sucks too. I used it for convenience but it seems to work less and less. Also it the phone feels slow, like slower then my htc10 which is legacy now. Fuck this phone.

Android phones is not updated the same manner as Iphone. GAPPs remove core functionality from the operation system to the standalone apps. For example, say you didn't get the lastest nougat update, and your stuck on lollipop. Google Play api allows older OS to get support for modern apps. On top of that those Google Play API provide security updates. It doesn't provide full update to entire operating system, but it's usable.


It's complete myth that if your OEM stops updating the OS itself, the Android phone is completely unusable and unsupported. Android have modular updates, it doesn't work the same way that IOS does.

I'm not here defending the G6, but I just wanted to say that it's true the other way around: the OP5 doesn't have IP certification, and neither an SD slot, nor a QHD screen, and design wise is very conservative with those bezels.

In both cases you lose something and you gain something, what matters is up to you.
