i bought a used macbook retina and after one day i realized my mistake. i can ssh into stuff and its nice, but i use lots of windows machines for work and anything vmware and rdp is DOG SHIT. you either have it fullscreen and everything is blurry as fuck making your eyes hurt, or you attempt to run it at native resolution and 'scale' which turns out like fucking GARBAGE.

windows 7 is utter shit, windows 8 is still utter shit, ANYTHING linux is somehow even worse

What's the best macbook-like laptop that has good compatibility with linux? I have a macbook that is starting to get close to replacement time but I'm not happy with the way apple is going with them. My main problems are the non-replaceable battery, the severe lack of ports, and the increase of price (I got mine for $1000 which is about the most I will pay for a laptop, all macbooks now are $1300+). I don't really care if the CPU, RAM, and SSD are non-upgradeable, though I'd be glad if I had a laptop where they are.

i got the razer blade with the 1060. I love it.
My last was a 2011 macbook pro, and I love the razer. Build quality is excellent. and for the logo i got a D-Brandz vinyl cover for the back and turned off the backlight so you dont see the logo at all. it's a great laptop

I'm planning on buying the thinkpad x1 carbon on the 33% discount it's slightly more expensive than the xps 13, seems like the screen is better on the xps 13 but it has that coil whine and the x1 carbon has a better keyboard.
Idk if the x1 carbon is actually durable enough compared to the other thinkpads.
