So the HD600 came in and the stereo separation on these are godly for how open these are designed. They basically sound like a closed K7XX in terms of frequency.

he400i used to be $400. now you can get them for $250. worth it if I already have an hd280? I guess since it's amazon I could just return them if I don't like them.
>>
>>60904129
>Can't imagine these deviate much.
>>60904457

look at the measurement, it's different. bass and mids are different, and highs especially are more present, in the mad dog and most other mods there is a roll off. it's also only $150 for a limited, serialized, last run of the first and probably only mkii mod that will have been partly done by fostex themselves. also the pads look real nice. even if you don't like it something like this will hold it's value I think.

inb4 they revive it because they "found some more mkii laying around" or something.

HD 600s for home use, had M50s before that. Looking for something to use while working at my college's library, IT lab, etc. Want something comfy since I am going to be wearing them many hours at a time. Also I need something with a removable cable, or something with a shorter cable (i.e not 10 feet) since I'll be wearing them while walking to class. Only thing keeping me from getting the M40Xs is that I found M50s to be a tad uncomfortable/caused my ears to sweat.

Piston 3s, Sony XB500, Symphonized NRG, SOL Tracks (got them for $15, not bad at all for on ear)

I'd prefer a removable single side cable, but that isn't necessary. I'd also prefer a braided cable. A braided cable is much more important if I can't remove the cord. A right angle plug would be nice as well.
My Sony XB500s just shit their pants after 4 years of consistent use. Great headphones, but the cord was annoying as fuck and they looked like I had tires glued to my ears. I'd prefer something that won't attract a ton of attention in public or at least looks nice (like the M40).

>In total, measurements for 283 headphones [in-ear (IE), supra-aural (SA), and circumaural (CA)] were acquired.

/g/ forgive me for this sin, I went out and bought HyperX Cloud Revolvers and they sound like bassy shit, and the mic sucks.

The problem is newegg wants to charge me 30$ for restocking, bringing my refund down to 89$. Is it even worth it or should I just suffer through not being able to hear anything but bass?
>>
>>60912846
If you want something with less bass try the sph9500 you can get it for $56 new on newegg(or $45 open box) right now. Use the left over money to get a boompro for ~$30

>>60912913
Price isnt the issue, im coming from a pair of headsets I just for the love of me cant find a frequency response chart on and no one on /g/ seems to even know they exist.

Also thank you for your response.

Unless you want to spend the price of the headphone on pads, those replacement pads will also be coming from china. 662 EVOs are a real good headphone for their budget. Stop being a fucktard.

There are similar options at a similar price with a far lower output impedance. It's wise to buy one of them since there's no way of knowing whether he'll use other headphones in the future with said amp, headphones which might see significant frequency response changes with a 10 ohm source.

>close enough to the 558
Except the one area where the K612 appears significantly superior to the HD598 on those graphs, the low treble, is precisely where the HD558 contains several decibels more treble than the HD598, so no, it's not close enough.
Here's two graphs of the actual two headphones being talked about from the same website for comparison:

http://en.goldenears.net/42471
Also, the HD558 should theoretically have a larger soundstage since they have angled drivers, whereas the K612 do not and lack the angled pads of the K701 family. Of course, there's no way of measuring this and this is all subjective.

How does the MB42(x) compare to the JBL 305? The price is a lot more pleasing.
>>
>>60919515
Yes, the Micca or most decent bookshelf speakers would be a better option than 2.1 budget speakers of the same price.

>>60921070
When it comes to speakers, you really do get what you pay for. Micca is a nice entry level bookshelf speakers but the JBLs are far better. If you're really constrained in terms of budget, the Micca isn't a bad starting point at all.

So I tried my friend's soundmagic e10's against my xiaomi piston hybrids, and whole the soundmagic were better, the hybrids did not fit well in my ears

It appears the hole around the tip has a much better diameter on the e10's, allowing a better fit.

Can I get a recommendation of a big pack of earbud tips to try out, I don't like the comply ones.

Where's the best place to sell headphones? I got a pair of M50x that I am unable to use but it's past the return window.

I hear the JBL hisses when there is no sound coming out of the source. Is that true? I'm assuming the Micca doesn't hiss because it's a passive speaker.
Also which is better in a small room? I know the JBL is back-ported, would it be especially detrimental if I place it closer to the wall than is advised?
>>
>>60921973
It has the same amount of hiss as most active speakers. And the hiss is only discernible if you crank up the volume a lot.

Both are fine in a small room. Micca has a 4in. woofer and the JBL has a 5in. woofer so both are perfectly okay in a small room. I have a speaker with a 8in. woofer in a small room and it's doing okay. If anything these speakers are better in a small room than a large room.

It's best if you keep the speakers away from walls and edges because the closer you have it, the more the frequency response gets fucked.

What headphone compares to the Micca mb42x? How about the JBL lsr305 too?

I ordered some spinfits, I have trouble getting a good seal no matter what cover I use for my kz ate iems, but I have a few tips I've tried that seem to fit better

The tips that fit better are more "flared" when I look at them, the ones that are rounded at the end don't get a good seal, or so I figure from looking at them
>>
>>60915331
they are, the clamping force is really tight and the headband doesn't distribute weight properly unless you got a matching round head. You have to either suffer from ear pain from heavy clamping or scalp pain from the weight being put on one spot of your head.

Looking to get a nice pair of either wireless or normal sports earbuds that will actually stay in my ear and have decent sound quality. Was looking at Sol Republic ones but after seeing the reviews and the technical faults I'm kinda cautious. Any recommendations?

How far would you recommend?
