It has been for awhile. It is built off of Gentoo and has support of all those packages. Just install whatever DE/WM you want and get ricing.

Best package manager ever. Easily handle multilib with simply setting a USE flag for each piece of software you want 32 bit or 64 bit support on.

Portage also allows for multiple versions of the same software package to be installed with slotting.

Portage makes it very easy to add a git directly as an overlay so you can basically integrate any git project directly into your package manager pretty seamlessly/easily.

Lots of other stuff but it all really depends on what you do.
