This thread is for the discussion of NyaaPantsu (pantsu.cat), a free (FOSS) torrent indexer, and other nyaa alternatives.
The aim of this project is to write a fully featured nyaa.se replacement in golang that anyone will be able to deploy locally or remotely.

>Why is Pantsu down/error 502?
Most likely because the team is deploying changes. Wait for a bit and refresh the page. It should be mostly stable now.

Honestly not that much. Speed is a big bonus. I can get the most obscure retro anime from 1976 at a minimum of 3MB+
Having said that if you like more obscure anime then you will come across shows with no torrents on nyaa or 0 seeds and that's when AB is essential
But for 90% of anime watching nyaa is just fine. However I'm hardcore weeabo and I needed to know what I was missing

I already have a huge downloaded backlog so I probably won't be downloading anything, I've been doing it nonstop since the last freeleech.

Yeah we are planning on doing a proper db clean up.

Make sure you do a mass stat scrape too. Alot of info for alot of torrents are missing. Sometimes some info are even missing on the torrent details page but if you refresh it, they come back.
>>
>>60835227
When you're setting up the dev site again, can you make it use the same DB as live? It's easier to test problems with the live DB, especially with new uploads or uploads that get scraped into live.
It's abit pointless to test the dev site with it's own seperated DB.

780k duplicates on sukebei 3,4k on nyaa not that important if the indexing is well configured but you could make the dumps around 200mb lighter.

For the past week I've only been able to download the dumps by using wget -c since downloads would always get interrupted and produce a seemingly corrupted file. I'm guessing cloudfare might be involved.

Sorry I don't know anything about setting up a website but does this mean you have to make a duplicate db for the dev site? Can't you make the dev site point towards the live db instead of having to replicate the entire db?
>>
>>60835716
>implying horriblesubs won't just jump back to nyaa.se when it comes back up
I hope nyaa.si is ready for nyaa to fuck them all over their assholes once again and then nuke everything when he gets scared again.
>>
>>60835745
I'd like the dev db to be different but with up to date data from prod.
Different because so we can actually break and test things freely.
Same for up to date torrents and such.
>>60835757
Good thing pantsu will stick around if it does come back.
Our goals haven't changed with providing a distributed service and we're going to prevent the data loss from happening either way by scraping from nyaa.se if it does come back.
>>
>>60835785
>Good thing pantsu will stick around if it does come back.
This is why I like pantsu. It doesn't care about competition outside of memeing. Even if there's a better site, pantsu will always be a backup scraping everyone else incase they get blown up. Doing god's work.

Why not just flood it? If the tracker is behind cloudflare, you'll essentially force the "One more step" for all IPs which will make it useless for that purpose.
>>60835852
No, it's just redirecting to somewhere else. It's not listening on that port, try going to http://tracker.opentrackr.org:1337/announce , you'll see it says "invalid request", then try going to http://open.nyaatorrents.info:6544/announce or http://nyaatorrents.info:3277/announce
Key-systems (DD24) is not used for legitimate purposes, they're known for being cheap bulletproof DNS
>>
>>60836016
They're not running a tracker on that port, the favicon is from the domain it's redirecting to.
>>
>>60838373
>>60838391
So if they're not running a tracker, then what can they datamine if you've been connecting through a torrent client?
>>
>>60838404
Nothing. The port is closed, they don't even notice your connection, nor do they care. It's just a shady advertising company driving traffic to their site, no legitimate (read: copyright honeypot) company would use dd24.

Your post has triggered me!

I am angry. Angry about AniDB. They have the nerve to bitch about people scraping their site and the bandwidth it costs them, when they could just periodically release a torrent of their database and get rid of the problem at no cost.

I guess information about third-party works submitted altruistically by volunteers constitutes original content donut steel.

It's in a page that they show you when the server decides that you're probably not a human. It's easy to get it by browsing through tor, but I've gotten it several times when browsing in the clear, with no abnormal activity prior.

I've tried just now and I'm not getting it, maybe later with a different tor circuit. Or maybe it's not there anymore, to be honest I haven't gotten it in a couple of months probably.

>>

Wouldn't people scraping their site REDUCE bandwidth costs in the long run, since mirrors would pop up? Do backups of the almighty sacred database even exist?

It should be easy to scrape, just rent a fuckton of proxies, get API keys from the existing clients, and then issue queries.

They specifically want to keep the database secret though.

>TCP API (private)

>The TCP API is a special, private API which provides access to partial copies of the AniDB database for off-line use.

>Access to the TCP API is only provided on request and with restrictions. Please contact EXP or Der Idiot on AniDB for additional information. Note that if you consider developing a TCP Client you will have to put up with in memory en- and decryption of data streams and no data is ever to be allowed to put unencrypted on HDD.

Also, it is gonna be extremely difficult to find helpers now after everyone saw how Nyaa pretty much told everyone who shilled for him for many years to GTFO without giving them any warning,

Not much beyond the domain became active and nyaatorrents.info got bought by an ad company.

Could the ability to search by exact file size be added? Would be great for automated cross seeding and some databases (i.e. anidb, see https://anidb.net/anidb.rdf) post the file sizes of all episodes online.

>>
>>60848354
Exact filesize ? I don't know, but we'll probably add the ability to search for between `min` and `max` filesize
>>
>>60848296
It actually makes sense for browsers to make it really hard if not impossible to bypass warnings because users are retarded, yet would think they are smart enough to turn on an 'advanced user' mode. Both legitimate sites and malicious ones were able to get people to type 'danger' to bypass warnings with simple instructions. https://bugs.chromium.org/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=569999 https://support.opendns.com/hc/en-us/articles/227989087-Chrome-for-Windows-only-HSTS-Certificate-Exception-Instructions
>>
>>60848397
Would that have byte precision and be possible to do on a file level? It wouldn't be too hard to add, just add a table with key=filesize, value=id.

For example, you issue a query for 28497918 (not 27.18 MB), and it returns all torrents containing Full Moon o Sagashite - T1 - Commercial - [NAOKI-Raws].mkv no matter what the filename is.

There's no site which has this feature. BTDB.in allows you to sort by size, but not search for it. Vuze allows you to search for size, but it's non-deterministic and proprietary.
>>
>>60848460
That'd be nice indeed. The byte precision isn't a problem, but I don't know how we would go about the file level.
We do get the list of files from scraper afaik. We'd have to store in some way that into Elasticsearch and do a search of filesize for both torrent level and file level filesize. Should be doable, I'll think about it
>>
>>60848663
You already have the torrent files, it's trivial to extract from there on both file level and torrent level. You can query clients for a copy of the torrent, or use one of the cache websites.

What about getting peers for the tracker not just from announces but from other trackers? After a client scrapes/announces, the infohash is checked against some amount of bloom filters, if it doesn't match any of them it queries a long list of trackers and adds anything it finds to the peer list.
>>
>>60848180
So what? He'll probably just get a new one then.

>I mean, surely someone has had contact with him, he's been online and all?

>Oh, I checked several places, but they all seedless or have one guy seeding with shit speed.
In other words, you only tried torrent indexes? No general web search, let alone IRC bots or P2P networks? What drives a person to do that?

I suppose most people would excuse themselves with something along the lines of "I don't like anime enough to do all that hard stuff, I- I'm not a weeaboo", but do such people think nothing of the fun of challenging themselves? Many a time I've had more fun finding an anime than watching it, or haven't watched it at all. No passion there either, I guess?
>>
>>60854051
I saw this and it's listing one seeder for me.

>>60854075
I like anime very much but I only ever extend effort in finding a show/OVA releases that I find really valuable. If Vandred was such a show, I would surely extend that effort. The [KgOlve] rip is fine, there's just a minor inconvenience of downloading it in four parts is all.

The way I usually go about hunting for releases is if it's a obscure ova that I haven't seen or one of the countless shows that I skipped over because it looked like shit initially. Plus I only have so much space so I usually look for more compacted releases at the tiny cost of quality (and while the quality is good, the [KgOlve] rip is a little larger than I would prefer for something like Vandred.)

>>
>>60855805
No need, seems ZX is actually the worst release, taken from DmonHiro
>ZX is an old Divx5 .ogm version, and it shows. KRYM looks as bad as ZX without the excuse of being old. Exiled-Destiny is decent, but even more cropped then mine. Arigatou looks about the same as mine, better in some cases, but when your watching it, it seems a little off, I can't explain why. Also, they have the only styled .ass subs, but they are very poorly styled, hugging the bottom of the screen. If you want the English audio, go with Arigatou.

>>

>>60855999
Not him, but I'm pretty sure they picked OZC's crappy Zeta Gundam release with a messed up aspect ratio over EG's.
>>
>>60856043
It seems they fixed it:

The 1080p version is from Anime-Supreme: https://bakabt.me/torrent/148754/kidou-senshi-z-gundam-mobile-suit-zeta-gundam-bd-1080p-anime-supreme
720p is from EG: https://bakabt.me/torrent/147418/kidou-senshi-z-gundam-mobile-suit-zeta-gundam-bd-720p-eg
>>
>>60856198
Oh no they didn't. I mixed up OZC with Anime-Supreme. That was the shit release I was referring to.
>>
>>60856234
Bakabt can't use EG's release instead of Anime-Supreme for a simple reason that EG doesn't have 1080p release, only 720p.

Also:
EG's resolution is 960x720 (1.333)
Anime-Supreme's resolution is 1440x1080 (1.333)
OZC's resolution is 1488x1080 (1.378)
>>
>>60856332
It's an old show on 16mm film. There is no real 1080p. I swore A-S had the messed up resolution and not OZC. Maybe I just have everything wrong; dunno.
