I just got an LG V20 for $300 on Swappa. Basically brand new. Never used Android 7.0 (because I'm on the LG V10 which is still on 6.0)

I saw on XDA, there's custom kernels and ROMs like Resurrection Remix and LineageOS.

Basically the only thing I disliked about the V10 was the lack of quick charging, the build quality and lack of developer support and the V20 seems to address all of these things. Someone who owns one, can you tell me whether I fucked up or not?

This. You can get a LG V20 in mint condition for $280-$330. It has developer support, it has a removable battery, it has a larger screen (and secondary display for additional functionality), a great camera and you can get LineageOS on there (Cyanogen successor)

You mght not get 8.0 day one or even several months down the line but honestly, is it necessary? The V20 has everything you could possibly want right now.

Most reviews i read said it had clunky software. I tried it hands-on and not only did it have a nice feel, but i noticed that i was able to delete built-in asus apps.

How durable are the iPhones in comparison to androids in the midrange to the flagships? I have dropped my iPhone countless times, and the screen cracked once. Never used a case. But for my next phone I am thinking android.

I've had zero issues besides it's fragility, bixby button is annoy but you can disable it with apps available on the store. Curved display is really nice and the phone is surprisingly light. Screen is AMOLED, high ress with a great PPI. Every drop test I've seen where it falls on it's back the glass on the back is guaranteed to shatter, but you're rolling the dice with the front.

Found out the hard way I can't use my google account with it as is, tried getting the "international" rom, did, no difference. Got the "international DEV" rom, no difference.
These are the only 2 roms I can get the phone's updater to install, others give broken engrish basically stating "only latest international dev rom"

Spent all my free time in the last couple days walking through the steps to get a fucking mi account just to get bootloader access, and get fucking confronted with a login page that refuses my username no matter what.
