Could anyone give me a run down on routing traffic? My location is in the pacific on a island and I used to get really good ping in League of legends about 60-70ms (great for location). About a two years ago they moved the server to chicago which increased it to 120ms which is pretty bad. I was wondering if I could play in the Japan server which is actually a bit closer but when I try I get 220ms.

Now I looked at the internet infrastructure and it shows a line going straight to Japan from my location which is around 100 mile or so closer then the chicago server so the ping should be the same or a little better. What i'm thinking is going on is my my internet is contacting LA then routing to Japan which creates the 220ms ping.

Is there a simple way I can route my connection straight to Japan using the cable that connected directly to my island ?

How practical is it to make your own dialect of a programming language?

I'm considering picking up a computer tomorrow, with an ASUS P6T motherboard, which is LGA1366; ASUS' website doesn't say it's compatible with, for example, Xeon X5650 CPU. If it lists no compatibility, is it that they haven't tested it? Or would it be that it's incompatible?
PCPartPicker doesn't seem to have the X5650 in their CPU listings, which means I can't check there for compatibility. Is there a website, or some other way, to know if it'd be compatible? I mostly wanted to know as the CPU the motherboard comes with is an i7 920, which, while not exactly bad, isn't the greatest thing, and unless overclocked a bit, apparently performs a little worse than my current CPU (i3 3250)
I'd just like to know if I could possibly get a Xeon X5650 (example), instead of shelling out a fair bit more for the i7 970/980

disk #1 is newer but had a current pending sector count SMART warning a week ago, which I cleared overwriting the drive with all zeroes.

disk #2 is older and has way more power on counts and power on hours, but has never given me any errors.

i will be using one of them as external USB3 drive for my NUC server that I keep running 24/7, mainly for storing movies that i stream from other places on my network and that sort of crap, nothing too intensive.

Does anyone know how you're supposed to interpret the graphs OCCT spits out of its 'Power Supply' tests?

When I do it, it runs fine for like 5 seconds, then the framerate tanks and my computer starts making clicking noises which I guess aren't particularly healthy, so I just cancel the test. I can't tell if it's the GPU or PSU making the sound.

My PC worked fine for the last year or two, its just over the last month or so it's been crashing under load or freezing entirely.

I have an RX 470 that I recently added to a PC I built in 2014, which has an FX 6350 for the CPU, and I have a 620W Seasonic PSU powering it all.

Almost every game I play seems to crash within an hour, sometimes in as little as 5 minutes. The Radeon settings program/driver crashing alongside this. I'm wondering if this is a problem with my card using too much power for my PSU to handle?

I researched online and many people have this problem, but have yet to find a fix. It's generally focused on newer amd cards with the Relive drivers installed. Any advice as to how to fix this would be appreciated.

How do I intentionally destroy a graphics card in such a way that the manufacturer/shop won't be able to tell it was intentional?

My 980ti is fucked, but it's an intermittent problem and I know for sure if I send it back to the store they'll test it for five seconds claim it works just fine and send me it back. I know this because I received a DOA CPU from them once, sent it back, they tested it as (((working))), sent me it back again and it was still DOA.

On Windows 7, if I leave my computer idle for more than five minutes, it just does a hard lock-up and has to be switched off at the wall. Under load it's totally fine.

On Linux Ubuntu, this never happens.

Middle click scrolling used to work fine but recently I've been having trouble with it. Not sure if it's my mouse, OS, an extension interfering, or something busted in chrome itself. So it turns out that my Lenovo y700 died today, the HDD became unbootable after only a year and a half of use. I suspect it was because of the Radeon R7 overheating in excess of 70C and melting the paste or some shit like that.
Should I just replace it, or would it be easier and more cost-effective to keep the laptop, swap out AyyMD for a card that doesn't overheat as much (maybe a GTX 1050), and put in a new HDD?
If I get a replacement, I'm definitely leaning towards a desktop this time around because fuck convenience and mobility if it means having twice the longevity for parts. I doubt I'll get anything from Dell though, because after doing some browsing the only rig I can find that has what I need for gaming is an (((Alienware))) with a price tag of 3000$+. Under load/gayming it's usual for my CPU to heat up in the 60-65+s (7700k). So with that in mind, isn't the step 5 a bit too late? I've monitored myself a lot and basically, let's say on BF1, the CPU would usually be around 55-60°C and jump to the 65 or so from time to time when a lot happens - does that mean step 5 isn't constant when gayming and I should bring it closer to step 4 to have it activated at all time? Could I get better temps doing so? What do you guys recommend?

Is there a way to force the Plex app to default to folder view? I've had it that way before but I can't remember how. Every time I update it, it starts defaulting to just showing every video together, again.
