How have you guys been playing your music lately? I've been running cmus in a drop down terminal lately. It's handy, I like it.
>>60621828
MOC, because I prefer to keep it simple
MPD is the comfiest music player.
>>60621828
Clementine of course. Do other music players even come close?
I mostly listen to music on my phone at work.
chiru.no
>>60621828
>no file structure view
Trash. Tags are the shittiest method ever devised to navigate music libraries and they only exist for normalfags that have 10 whole albums in their entire collection.
>>60625072
I only need tag search in order to get what I want. File structure would involve needless work of going through lists and subdirectories.
>>60625072
the organisational abilities of tags are a strict super set of those of hierarchical folder structure
I use an mpd client that I wrote.
>>60625072
cmus has a file system view tho
>>60621828
Still using Clementine. As simple or as complex as I want it to be. Every option known to mankind. I just love it.
>>60621828
For Windows I use Winamp. It's simple and good looking. On Linux Mint (Might switch to Antergos or Xubuntu soon) I use Banshee, and on my desktop with Antergos I just use the gnome music player.
>>60621828
mpv --shuffle Music/*
>>60621828
foobar2k
For visualization I just split my line out and run it to my Tektronix 2430A oscilloscope. Usually set vertical to between 500mV and 1V per division. Timebase I typically set to 1 or 2ms per division, best resolution for low to mid frequencies.
If I want to see the spectrum I use FFT on my HP 54645D. I think I do 5dB/div with a reference level of either 0dBV or -10dBV. Frequency span set to 24.41kHz which is as close to 20kHz as I can get. Display is linear so center is at 12kHz. Would have preferred log but technical limitations. Window set to Hanning.
drag and drop the file you want to listen on VLC mater race
>>60621828
Play everything through 1by1. I've been re-listening to my entire music collection. I started last year and I'm still not done. Might take awhile.
poobar or poocloud or poopify
>>60625145
What skin is that?
>>60625511
i made it using defaultui
iTunes.
>>60625091
Tags are incapable of doing nested categories or ANY other organizational system that's not strictly "Artist/Album" and maybe, MAYBE, "Year". They totally fall to pieces when you have libraries with more than 5,000 albums.
>>60625483
>not using the Free and Open Source Audacious
this player is Foobar for non-autists
>>60625586
No they don't. Imagine you have a folder structure folder1/folder2/folder3
Just convert it to field1="folder1", field2="folder2" etc to create the same nested structure as folders
>>60625590
i thought that deadbeef was foobar for freetards
can any of them do autistic shit like this though?
>muh 98
Is mpd better than deadbeef?
>>60625586
Your music player doesn't have a search feature? Are you really navigating through multiple nested directories to find your files?
>>60625623
>can any of them do autistic shit like this though?
I use beets for my library management. I imagine it can do quite a lot of that.
>>60625623
Deadbeef is such a piece of shit.
>That's a nice library you've got there
>I'm gonna need 15 solid minutes to import and scan it before you can do anything
how come foobar indexes library almost instantly while other players need like 2 minutes at least
mpd + ncmpcpp is comfy af
Exaile because it's the best GTK player that recognises my fn key shortcuts
still waiting on Foobar2001
Any Android app recommendations?
>>60626146
Yeah, deadbeef was slow as hell for me as well. Sticking to MPD.
>>60625646
Yes.
>>60626448
I've tried most of them. the best one is poweramp.
I really have tried to use something that's not foobar but I keep coming back to it...
I use Everything to keep my music indexed for instant searching and MPC-HC to actually play it.

>>60625629
Is that..... Jeff Rosenstock? I never thought I would run to a fan on this site. I saw him live with Andrew Jackson Jihad at the crescent ballroom in Arizona.
>>60629668
Looks like an educative program in public libraries
>>60628732
clean
>>60626421
a bit cringe
>>60625629
nice one, remove your icons on the desktop and it's a 8

cluttered, but looks good

remove the centered text and you're good
>>60625145

>>60629841
stop judging me
>>60621828
Google Play Music. Since its release.
>>60625072
It's not sorted by tags
mpd/mopidy for spotify with ncmpcpp is by far the comfiest
I was asking myself the same question recently.
>>60625098
Are you sure? Using hard-/symlinks you could probably do everything in a folder structure that you can do with tags.
Not saying it's easier or anything, but I don't think it's a strict super set.
>>60630145
yeah that's true i guess
>>60630108
What distro is this?

I must have this.
>>60630905
Do you seriously think that's Android?

Yes, I like it
Winamp master race here.
AIMP
If it's just to hear in the background in my room:
Phone > Apple Music > bluetooth to Echo Dot > computer speakers
if i'm going to sit and actually listen:
CDs > CD Player > stereo receiver > floor standing speakers
Audacious, just werks.
I use pic related. Mainly for ripping CDs while my desktop is down.
>>60630302
A lossless radio of toho music
Correct me if I'm wrong
I need to give foobar another try but I've been using musicbee for a while
>>60626421
>Initial D ost playing
Mah dude
>>60625072
I'm curious what you use (If you're on lunix). Only a few bloated players seem to offer folder structure view
>>60632069
ncmpcpp has folder structure.
>>60630461
>>60630742
>>60630922
It looks just like a phone screenshot. Is it gnome?
>>60632211
It's macOS. The menu bar is very clearly from a desktop OS. Have you ever used a smartphone?

>>60635181
h*ck off buddy, you're a real character. Go suck a d*ck.
>>60635166
Do people on /g/ seriously not recognise phones from desktops?
>>60626146
deadbeef is better if you use the file browser plugin which loads the folder you choose (sort files into folders that suit you - ie artist, album or year). when you click another folder on the file browser (like another album) it replaces the playlist with the new songs. you can use symlinks to create playlist folders. Also you can drag from the file browser to add folders (ie albums) or songs to the playlist queue
so many ugly players itt lol
>>60637310
which one is that
>>60637422
cmus
I never spent time changing deadbeef much
>>60637422
Have this tucked away on a side monitor. I don't see it too often though, because of global hotkeys.
>>60637740
I don't get people who dedicate an entire monitor to music players. It's not that visually important.
>>60637310
that one is ugly desu
Objectively the best. Fight me
I've switched back and forth from foobar and musicbee but at the end stuck with musicbee.
>>60639959
Looks like a mess.
>>60639959
>no equalizer
only reason i dont use it
>>60640311

why do you even listen to music if you intend to change how it sounds from the original?
>>60640393
because the original's worse grandpa
>>60635200
>h*ck
>d*ck
wow such le reddit
>>60630461
That looks really nice. What player is that?
>>60640922
kmbmpdc
It's a macOS client for MPD.
>>60640036
Yeah MusicBee was my go-to player for ages until I lost all my configs.
I was fucking livid.
MusicBee spreads it's configs across something like 6 folders, all in different directories. I probably forgot one and that's why I couldn't restore my configs...
Since then I've been using AIMP
Can anyone recommend me a decent music player for windows?
Anything like Windows media player with a hierarchy folder view and support for ogg and flac would be fine. Thanks
>>60641377
AIMP is great
MusicBee is great
Foobar is great
On Windows you're spoilt for choice, AIMP is probably the easiest to configure out of the 3 I mentioned, while Foobar is more difficult but the possibilities are endless. MusicBee is somewhere in the middle.
All offer a great amount of features
>>60621828
>>60643373

I like it.
facets is so good~
>>60644208
Looks shite.
>>60644224
i mean functionally
>>60639283
I don't dedicate the whole monitor for it. Most of the time I have mumble, discord, or a pdf reader open over it. This is why I find global hotkeys so useful.
>>60637740
>>60643373
These are ugly
>>60625062
thank you anon
What's a good looking foobar skin I can use, I am bored of my home made layout
cmus is for people too lazy to set up mpd and we all know it
>>60631266

>>60621828
winamp since forever.
Open for an alternative though, as long as I can set it up like pic related

>>60635418
How do I use a deadbeef plugin?
Foobar + spotify because I'm boring
>>60629743
a thing built in poobar that uses scripting language know as "title formatting syntax" to automatically move / copy and rename audio files according to tags so in end of the day everything is neat and orderly like pic related
>>60621828
cmus, becouse it just works.
>>60625457
