My collection consists of a Mickey Mouse quartz watch from Aliexpress, 3 Vostok Komandirskie-Kadets, a dope Casio and a few thrifted vintage German made quartz and mechanicals that don't keep proper time. I have no craving for expensive watches but I appreciate how they look and how they're made. I bought myself a nice piece of land next to the sea that I will build a house on once I've saved enough. The cost of the land could have gotten me a few lovely Rolexes and maybe one day I will get those Rolexes after I'm sitting in my house.

No I just wanted to illustrate what a wristlet is.
He said "on my wristlet", that would refer to the strap.
When used for a small wrist you have to use it to describe the person "I am a wristlet"

yes I'm autistic, no I don't care

Same.

I made some long-term financial gains lately, and had two choices:

1) stay in my current shitty house and be able to easily afford more stuff, like watches

2) sell my current place and move into a better house

I went with option 2) and sold my current house at a pretty significant profit, and bought an expensive house at a bargain price.

And on my wrist is still my 5-y-o green alpinist.

I like Russian watches, but I can't stand the fact that they attract all kind of commies who worship the USSR and call each other comrades. Could I start a forum on WUS for WWII German watches and write 'Sieg Heil' at the end of my posts? Don't think so

What does /wt/ think of these straps?

I mistakenly bought the one on the right because I thought it was white and orange, and didn't read the description.

I like the look of the darker one better, but it's a zulu and definitely bulkier feeling. The blue/orange one is a nato and the nylon is more comfortable, but i'm not a huge fan of the light blue.
May just order another in a different color
>>
>>60425378
They both look ugly. Just get a dark grey or black one, if you must have a colour then go for navy blue.

have a 17-18cm+- (6.5"+) wrist size. Really like the watch, became my daily few month ago. It's a classic, U can't go wrong with it

Replaced the original metal strap with a Nato navy blue because the metal one was really too heavy and I don't really like the feeling of it but that's up to you.
>>
>>60426158
My wrist size is identical so that's good to hear. I've been looking at SKX and SRP as alternatives. But I the Orient has a better movement than the 7s26 and the turtles are too big for my wrist I think.
As far as the strap I'd love to try out rubber, but all the ones I saw were on metal. Don't you think the Nato makes the watch sit a bit too high? Maybe I'll search for some aftermarket rubber alternatives

It gets bumped off-center and makes my autism flare. The dial is also the same size as the SNK809s if the bezel wasn't there so the watch could have been much thinner, and not had the awkward crown at 4 o'clock.

Still my favorite watch, and I've not seen another watch at any price point I like better. Just a pet peeve of mine.

I don't care if it's quartz, only need it to be built well, have a standardized lug width and be water resistant enough for swimming.
I already have a seiko 5 and the timex and citizen "flight" watches don't look enough like the type B for me.

I have had the old blue mako for the past 7 years. Good watch. The bracelet's kinda shitty though because of the end links which are hollowed out pieces of shit that will be rattling in no time. Dunno if that was fixed in the newer version. Use it on a NATO, the rubber or an aftermarket metal and you'll be happier.

Also, maybe year or two into ownership the bezel started to stick. It's totally frozen now. It's just badly designed anyway and it was not made for ease of purchase as it's so thin with nothing substantial to grab on to. No really a lose for me as I never needed it.

Haven't worn it properly for a while because I've been meaning to deal with the shitty rattly endlinks and because the crystal is all scratched up. I think the latest one has sapphire and that would be awesome.

Lume isn't the best compared to an equivalent Seiko river but whatever. It's cheap and cheerful.

To the guy who I was (You)'info with back and forth yesterday re: submariner 14060M/114060, I think I'm going to wait for the 114060M (or whatever it may be called). They're gonna HAVE TO release a "throwback" version of the sub with the classic bezel (sure, it will probably be ceramic, but at which point, I won't mind) and the non-maxi everything. You'd get all the benefits, superior build in every way + new bracelet, with the old look

Who knows when such a piece will be released, but I know they will. They'll have to, especially when you consider the state of the Swiss luxury watch market, despite Rolex still doing very wel. What are your thoughts on this possibility?

look, we talked about that movement in the last thread, and the one before that. Whenever somebody mentions Speedmasters, chronographs or anything mildly related you always start to argue how Lemania is better. And it is in many aspects, but thanks to you we already know that, maybe it's time to move on to some other topic

Yes it does, but they are not in the driveline where they would be subject to excessive wear. Even 40+ years after the majority of the vintage Lemania 5100 chronographs were made, I've heard very few reports of any the nylon parts failing. Overall the movement is phenomenally reliable.

You can read more about it here, if you are interested: http://chronomaddox.com/nouvelle_lemania_5100.html

Unfortunately not! The 116223 has been running really well since I had it serviced a couple of months ago. It's gone from April 22 to now running a cumulative +0.0s, which I think is pretty neat even for a 3135.

But it seems like the average Russian 'suburb' is really just an old commie block with a bunch of babushkas in flip-flops and squatting chavs getting drunk and causing mayhem...

They are an eye catcher for sure, and the finishing is not bad either, specially the double balance cock. If you like the unique aesthetic why not? Just make sure to not expose it that often to intense sunny days, as with any skeleton and open dial, ti will dry the lubricants a bit faster.

A suggestion? GO has a lot of AD's in tax-free zone at airports. If you make your reaserch and pact the price before arriving to a terminal, you might ge a juicy discount to help you fund some nice vacation.

I will never get it how you can buy two seiko 5's. It's your choice and I'm happy you like it, but personally even if I was forced to stay in that price range I'd search for something different: vintage American and Russian, digital Casios, whatever. Never understood how people can buy the same watch twice, this includes people who have multiple subs

Alright after a few months consideration I think I will settle on a Rolex Explorer.

The question is; 14270 or 114270?
Is the 3130 movement much of an improvement?
Do all 114270 have the ROLEXROLEXROLEX engraving? That shit is gaudy

What do?

Currently in for servicing as I managed to absolutely fucking annihilate the crystal when I went ass over tit last year. Was running to my local Chinese takeout joint on the way back from the pub, and because I was fucked out of my skull, I sort of forgot how legs work.

Worst bit? Wasn't even fucking open when I got there, so I never even got my succulent Chinese meal. Before and after pic.

Watch year; c.1960 for anyone who gives a shit.
>>
>>60430155
The case finishing is amazing for it's price. That and the chamfered crystal, the details in the dial, etc. The 9015 in it has been decently accurate (gains maybe 3s/day give or take).

On a related note, the 15mm buckle on that LM looks the same as mine. In which case it's just likely just plated aluminum or some other junk metal. Definitely not solid stainless steel like the 16mm buckles you can get from seiya. It's even a brighter shade than the stainless buckle.
