Good morning Mr. Phelps.

Our agents have determined that Omega has lost all innovative skills. The remaining telephone sanitizers that escaped Ark B are now working on painting the faces in new and hideous colours. It is now just over 2 years til the 50 year celebration of the first Man on the Moon.

Your mission, should you chose to accept it, is to create a new movement with a new complication to properly celebrate this moment. You may also dispose of all and any telephone sanitizers by putting them on the next Ark.

This thread with self destruct in 300 posts. Good luck, Jim.

Use modern tech like silicon based movement. One example here that looks amazing

>>
>>60376281
Fine. On the assumption you will--in addition--allow a 321 powered remake of the original MOTFM, I'll give you a more innovative idea.

Personally, I feel like it makes more sense to keep with the spirit of the original as a functional tool watch for outer space usage than to try and incorporate gimmick complications (e.g. earthphase).

Towards that end, I think a silicon movement manufactured using MEMS technology using a free sprung balance and featuring a directly driven chronograph function (for the enhanced shock and g-force resistance) would be most in keeping with the spirit of the original. And of course, no co-axial escapement.

>>60383461
The proof that it's a fake is in front of anybody's eyes. The subdials are not in where they should be, and that's because the movement inside is not an authentic AP but a generic caliber wich have been fitted to fool people into thinking it's real.

The easiest way to spot a fake chronograph is this, actually, since the subdials will either have things like 24 hours indicators or day or the week, or, like in this case, the indicators are misplaced from they where belong in the real deal.

IT'S FUCKING FAKE

>>60378778
>adding to this, you should never wear a watch with a tuxedo.

>b-b-but ackshuallly you're not supposed to wear a watch with black tie!
And how often do you wear a dinner suit, mr. socialite? In a actual formal setting? Stop getting your etiquette ques from wikipedia or one of those lame modern "how to be a gentlemens le modern fedora edition!" books that have become so popular.

People wear watches with formal wear all the time these days; no one gives a shit anymore as it's no longer 1920. People carry their fucking phones with them everywhere too, if you're going to have a stick up the butt about something let it be about that, as it's much worse.

If you're at a state dinner with the queen of england and are decked out in tails, yeah, you should probably not wear a watch.

For some piddling modern "formal" event with tuxedos, no one will look twice at your wristwatch unless you're wearing a gold fagblot big bang and gesticulate wildly with your coat sleeves pulled up, ie. if you're a fucking moron.

And don't say
>oh but you mustn't have been going to the RIGHT formal events with the creme of the crop who still follow these archaic rules that weren't even that stringently followed back in the day!
Yes, I have faggot, and nobody cares anymore since the old people who would've given a shit about this are either dead, senile or too polite to have an autistic shitfit at a measly blacktie dinner if some faggot wears a wristwatch.
The few white tie events I've been to also had people wearing watches.

Do I like it when I see solid garish hublots or ROO's on people's wrists at formal dinners? No. Yes it's a sign of declining standards. But someone wearing a discrete, thin dress watch doesn't bother me. What grinds my gears is when le classy gentlemen parrot shit regurgitated by others ad nauseam.

It's cool if you want one, however these things do go down in value. They are bottom of the barrel Rolexes, ones that people buy because they say 'Rolex' on them. You want a collectable Rolex that doesn't go down in value then check these guys out:

https://www.hqmilton.com/

You don't have to buy from them, you can use them as a guide on what people see/trade as valuable Rolexes.

>a more innovative idea
Appreciated.

And I agree it was very much a tool watch. From what the astronauts were telling they used the watches to tell what shifts were on back in Houston. For that a GMT hand would have bee useful when you are on the Moon where the lunar days are just over 2 weeks long. Earthphase for me than has an actual function.

The other thing about the Moon is that you have no satellite navigation means. People have talked about extending GPS satellite coverage all the way to the moon but the dilution of precision would be enormous. On the other hand you would have the Earth hanging hugely in the sky, so determining the angular position of the Earth, compensating for the analemma of Earth in the lunar sky would be pretty handy.

This exposed increases the chance of damages. Replacing a crystal is likely more expensive then just the bezel and that is even before the hands are caught out too.

Then get a watch no one will even recognize as a Rolex. An Explorer I or Explorer II (Polar!) are great stealth Rolex watches that won't make you look like an asshole.
>>
>>60390728

I dont really like them, and why are they relatively cheap?

the world may never know

Seems clear to me that anon was asking if it's a tuning fork Accutron or a modern Accutron ii. There is an Anon on wt that claims to have a non-conversion spaceview if that's your thing; would pay it but we never got a picture.

>>60390728
To be honest anything with a Cyclops will key people into it being a Rolex.

It's pretty damn obvious that it's a tuning fork and not a quartz movement, I mean for fucks sake, you can inside the watch.
>>
>>60390852

Yeaa, but surely someone want them?

I was curious to see if Android Wear was still a think... But it looks like Google have killed it. Pity, it might have been decent if it had 1 or 2 more iterations.

I only looked because it seemed like every other youtube reviewer was packing an apple watch.

Archie at least, phoulmouth phuckers
>>
why are yachtmaster 1s so cheap? The steel ones go for ~5000 which is bretty gud
>>
>>60382533
gray
blue dials on steel watches is a cancer trend that needs to die
>>
>>60390926
I don't mind the 40mm Explorer II with red GMT hand myself, especially for cheaper than a Sub.

Their appeal is that they are inexpensive right now, which may signal a bounce back in price but I wouldn't count on it.

Get a DJ, they are very versatile.. there's nothing wrong with wearing a Rolex

Literally one of the worst opinions I've ever seen on /wt/.

Datejusts are fucking boring though.

Blue dial on yellow gold watches are the ugliest things.

You call this boring? Not as boring as Grand Seikos.

Chav watches.

>Their appeal is that they are inexpensive right now, which may signal a bounce back in price but I wouldn't count on it.

I would. The 3big5me current models with the maxi-dials look like shit. When the giant watch thing rightfully dies out after the Chink economy crashes people will want to go back to normal watches, only problem being that there's going to be a huge dead spot in the middle for like a decade or two so they'll have to go to the early 2000s to get something other than some jumbo faggot monstrosity. Plus all of the pre-97 tritium dial models are cheap! cheap! cheap! right now so if you want a vintage Rolex that is going to develop beautiful patina you're going to be shit out of luck if you wait around.

>You call this boring? Not as boring as Grand Seikos.

Yeah, that one is definitely one of the nicer ones. Also the two tone one that the flannel anon posts here is nice too.

But those are exceptions and the DJ lineup really doesn't do much for me.
>>
>>60391086
Because they're just an uglier Submariner.

Does anyone know where to get a replica of the Seiko G757, also called digiborg? I Wired-Seiko remake is quite expensive nowadays.
I have the Casio AE1200WHD-1A wich is similar, but I would like the most accurate look. Thanks.

No, that particular DJ is just ugly, and you have terrible opinions and should fuck right off.
