I got most of the way though installing gazelle using the guide I think you're talking about.
Some of the recent versions of the required dependencies make it break so I have to go and find the versions that were available when the guide was written.
And OT's version is nearly perfect for the kind of website I want to run already.

Would you at least post the differences so I know what is needed to install your version?
I came across this when I was trying to find an updated version of the guide or whatever else:

Users have proven time and time again that they are incapable of assessing the competency of staff and will happily put their private information in the hands of people who have no idea what they're doing so long as they get some neat content in return.
The private information of these users is put in danger because the barrier of entry to starting a tracker is already far too low. I will not go out of my way to make it lower.

If you are a competent developer who will be able to do things well, prove it by figuring out how to install gazelle without my handholding. If you are not competent and can't do it without me, then I won't help you because I don't want you running a tracker.
