This thread is for the discussion of the possible replacement/mirror of the late Nyaa.se (which also hosted Sukebei);

>latest update: nyaa sent an email and confirmed it's gone for good. and yes, it was due to the EU ruling. and no, db is almost surely wiped.

Work in progress with 1 month old db for nyaa and 8-15 for sukebei

It's about saving as much current content as we can.

Whether we get another is up in the air, but what this has proven is that it might not be the best idea anyway. That said, if they do make their own sites, it'd be still be nice to have a scraper tying them all together, even if they'd probably cry about it.
>>
>>60206954
As a substitute for not being able to display the seeder/leecher statistics, I propose you could record how many times a client has requested a magnet link. (i.e. Clicked the button). You could display the raw aggregate data, (The number of times the button has been pressed.) how many times the magnet has been requested during a time period (e.g. an hour, a day, etc.), and you could display the torrent's magnet request statistic divided by the site-wide average. While it won't be useful now, if this ends up being the replacement of nyaa, then it can help people in the future to find out which one's getting the most attention.

Why don't other clients implement this? It can be used by release groups to distribute and update their new stuff without the need for a website or rss. Still requires some way to advertise the master feed but it can be just forum posts or even pastebin.
Also Vuze even has chat/comments system all within DHT. I remember using it all the time verifying [db]/[yhbt] fake naruto episodes.

It was a ruse, registration at AB isn't actually open. If they were, they would have used the URL
https://animebytes.tv/application/

For those that actually want to wait for AB applications, just check
https://opentrackers.org/animebytes/

every once in a while. They're pretty rare though (only once every 3-5 years)

Also, keep in mind AB has "applications", not "sign-ups".

This means you'll need a good track record on other private trackers before you can use this one.

Alternatively, you can try getting chummy with people who have AB accounts. Eventually they might DM you an invite.

Don't make public requests for invites, because if anyone tells AB you and your inviter will be banned. (This has happened before.)

From what I know Pantsu was originally using old .sqlite dumps some Anon posted back in 2016 and is using half new half old now. The contingency plan is get those dumps and hoard them like they're the King's treasure.

I wonder if that Anon is around, I'm pretty sure he made in response to the last down time. To know that his work was so vital now.

Donno, at the moment it's just the archive of whatever dump is the latest, April 4th IIRC.

If we do continue to use Pantsu and the owner wants to make it the new Nyaa, I'd imagine we will have to look at other ways to store all of this data, relying on one site is the reason we are all here now.

It's not as good as AB, but that's to be expected.

Reputation building starts at the bottom of the private-tracker pyramid.

1) Private trackers at the bottom of the pyramid just have sign-ups. Anyone can get in, you just need to wait until they're open. The quality of these are so-so.

2) Build reputation/ratio with these lower-class private trackers. Invest in a seed box. Most private trackers have some system of "bonus points", so even if you upload nothing, you get credit for the hours you're seeding.

3) Look at the private forums for your private trackers. There are often recruiters from other private trackers who are looking for members who have good reputation/ratio. Use this to go up the pyramid, along with applying for other private trackers whenever they're open.

4) Eventually after going up enough of the pyramid, you'll get to the private tracker you want (AB).

The whole thing will probably take at least year, but once you're in, you'll be good as long as you keep seeding.

Being in lots of private trackers also hedges your bets in case one of them goes down and you need membership to another.

I think i found a bug.

Some magnets have the url wrong, adding %0a where it doesn't belong so the hash becomes all zeros.
e.g.:

magnet:?xt=urn:btih:a0cf718f0ebca0897a77e0a9fa516a155bef1d6f%0a&dn=%5BDoutei%5D+Kodomo+no+Jikan+Complete+v2+%5BDVD%5D&tr=udp://zer0day.to:1337/announce&tr=udp://tracker.leechers-paradise.org:6969&tr=udp://explodie.org:6969&tr=udp://tracker.opentrackr.org:1337&tr=udp://tracker.coppersurfer.tk:6969

This magnet has a hash of zeros, but if you modify it:

magnet:?xt=urn:btih:a0cf718f0ebca0897a77e0a9fa516a155bef1d6f&dn=%5BDoutei%5D+Kodomo+no+Jikan+Complete+v2+%5BDVD%5D&tr=udp://zer0day.to:1337/announce&tr=udp://tracker.leechers-paradise.org:6969&tr=udp://explodie.org:6969&tr=udp://tracker.opentrackr.org:1337&tr=udp://tracker.coppersurfer.tk:6969

It uses the proper Hash, and starts downloading.

If these threads are still persistent tomorrow afternoon when I get off of work I'll try and make a thread in 0chan's /g/ for anybody interested with the prospect of a solid nyaa/sukebei alternative on Zeronet.
There are already roughly made sites for TV/movie torrents on Zeronet that are ok since I watched a magnet of Logan I found from one.
I myself don't have have the knowledge to make a site for this but I would simply like to rally minds together in hopefully a productive environment.
If you aren't an autist you should be able to find your way there including after you get the download since even a monkey could navigate the UI.
>>
>>60207465
Just a temporary situtation as everyone figures out what to do. Painful, but give it a week or 2.
>>
>>60207053
Does a web browser even share that with the site? I mean, you clicking the magnet link in your browser does not send any information to the host website about it iirc. All it does, is either handle the link directly if it can, hand it over to a program registered to handle it (torrent program), or display an error message. No information is sent back to the server unless you hide the magnet link behind another link, but that'd just piss people off more.
>>
>>60207552
Wow, this is a shit organization.

You know how Nyaa worked? You went to it and just download / uploaded whatever.

For future reference none of the hashes should have % anything in them. If they do, removing the % and the two characters following it (%0a in that case) should fix it.

Though it's also pretty unlikely ones other than %0a will show up. It's one of the ASCII codes for end of line/enter key, so you can probably imagine how it wormed its way in there.

That's a shitty assumption.

If it was the old mod team/staff, HS would have said that, e.g. "some of the remaining staff are going to branch off into their own site".

Or at the very least, some of the Nyaa staff would have mentioned the replacement site in their final letter, if some of the staff legitimately considered it.

The thing is, staff doesn't mean programmers/developers. Only a few of the staff probably knew how to program, and I'm doubtful they would have had much support just within their own small group to create a replacement site.

Either
1) HS is indirectly talking about us because some anon tried to contact him
2) HS got contacted by some other group that wants a replacement site (probably just other users who happen to be programmers interested in resurrecting the site)

>>
>>60208246
>If they don't want help, they probably want to work in peace.
This is actually retarded though.

Torrent sites thrive off users. If users don't use torrents, they die.

More importantly, sites need to advertise themselves. If they don't advertise themselves, they have no users.

If they want people to actually use their site, they have to make themselves known and what they're aiming for known.

Right now you can even find nyaa pantsu being mentioned on leddit under /r/trackers and /r/piracy, but no mention of any other replacement site candidates.

The way they're handling this makes me think they're really on the fence about it/aren't serious yet.

Also if you look at how HS talked about it:
http://desuarchive.org/a/thread/156706399/#156707178

1 - Search for the torrents on nyaa.pantsu.cat or animetosho.org

Sorry, but your site is shit.

It's been broken since the get-go. It's just 5 minutes of Bootstrap coupled with a database. It can't be called a tracker and it can barely be called an index. The project structure is ass.

There's absolutely no reason to work on your project other than "I made a git repo first".

>Myers-Briggs personality type stuff is pseudoscience, anon.

It did not use proper methods, you are correct, but the types it describes are still quite accurate.

Technically the scientific method didn't exist when newtonian laws of motion were set to paper, meaning they were discovered through pseudoscientific means as well.

Certain camps put too much weight upon deductive mathematical proofs over empirical and observable reality.

Meanwhile, "feminist glaciation" gets peer approved... SCIENCE!

>>
>>60208949
So you're basically racing to be first in order to win some e-peen points. Here's my tip to you: no one wants the "I did it first" project, they want one that works. And rushing by releasing something that is broken is not exactly a good way of achieving that.

If someone is working on their own project, it's pretty self-centered to tell them to drop their shit and help you make something that works. Usually when you get contributors to software, you already have a working concept.

>>60208958
>Your mentality is what's twisting it into some retarded race for the best.
It's clearly not a race for the best since he's only focusing on speed.
>>
>>60208739
>but the types it describes are still quite accurate.
Which you base on...?

>Meanwhile, "feminist glaciation" gets peer approved...
Peer-review isn't just about getting your paper into a reputable journal. It's an ongoing process: What happens afterwards through reaching an even broader scientific audience in and outside of the field is of significance, too. That glaciation paper was utterly ridiculed by the rest of the scientific community, so the error made by the one to three peers has been corrected by the thousands of other peers. I don't see this as a proof of science failing. In fact, rather the opposite.

The same, but to a lesser extent, utter disregard happened to the Myers-Briggs personality types.
>>
>>60208996
>So you're basically racing to be first in order to win some e-peen points.
That's only because you think that way so you project it onto everyone else. Everyone else just wants the database restored as fast as possible. No one but you cares about e-peen here.

He knew how important his site was to the community, just deleting everything with no warning instead of giving the data to another willing host (and there were other willing hosts, as confirmed by HS leader) seems like an incredible cunt move.

It's okay if he wants to quit, but did he want to watch the community burn or is he just a tremendous retard?
>>
>>60209449
Seems like a security issue.
>>
>>60209464
It's not like people were coming for him. The ruling that triggered his paranoia didn't even deal with torrents or anime. If he had given just a 1 hour warning before deleting everything the community would be in a much better position at no risk to himself.
>>
>>60209439
If you want to prove you contributed something without being sucked off all the time, you just turn trip on when contributing (people were going to suck you off regardless of whether you trip in those cases), and turn off when not. You turn on when temporarily whenever you want to prove you contributed, e.g. now.

It's a really simple concept that even a retarded newfag could understand after a day, but again you're a troll so I'm sure you'll deflect.

Yes, sure. But he didn't even shut the site down on the day of the ruling, did he? He was obviously thinking about it for a few days. If he had warned ANYONE in that time then the community wouldn't be in such a state right now. I'm almost convinced that he didn't tell anyone out of spite towards the community and he wanted to cause chaos.

Also, "efforts". You know what the actual effort you should be focusing on? The people who have made backup archives of the site, not the guy who wrote 100 lines of Golang to display someone else's archive.
