I don't understand the top bars. They prevent me from locating the close window button is without looking. Ubuntu version is even more retarded, literally maximized windows require attention to close without using the keyboard.

It's not critical I guess, but it's very annoying.

Try working with something that opens in more than 1 window. Try Xilinx ISE. When you make a lot of windows float it becomes very handy. Similar to show desktop button, there are some things that you should be able to point without even trying.
>>
>>60073608
no it doesn't
>>
>>60073828
thinkpad's are a pretty solid balance between power and cost imo, and I don't want to spend too much money. I'll stick with arch on there, but if I can get some parts for my desktop that work with macos I'll do a dual boot! : )
>>
I like DEs that can have tabs in the titlebar because the titlebar is almost always useless white-space.
Call me when a majority of your programs support 2009 level technology. Oh wait, it's Linux so it'll never reach that because it's bogged down by lowest-common-denominator pandering.
>>
>>60073828
i5 2520m is still solid but old enough to be perfectly supported too. Even used in some macs. There's no excuse for the gpu drivers to be bad.
>>

>>
>>60073864
KDE lets you have tabs in the titlebar. I've never tried to use that feature, but it seems like the logical way to do things. Instead of relying on the developers of individual applications to support tabs, you only need the desktop environment to support tabs.
>>
>>60073828
Don't waste your time with OSX. It has a buggy bluetooth stack, buggy window manager, buggy generic drivers, and is a resource hog. Just use KDE and customize it to be like OSX such as >>60073608

These are just preferences, I don't even understand why people look down on using a mouse. Honestly it makes most of the things, which is mainly circuit design, I do a lot easier because it's more intuitive to place things on a schematic and route instead of noting where things are and describe everything using relative locations.

The touch interface is just there if you're into that kind of shit, but the true power of GNOME is in its keyboard control, which no other DE (or windows) can emulate.

The word is programming. It is not a "code". It's not some secret message for someone else to interpret. It is instructions for a computer to follow. "Source code" is an ancient military term that should just go away.

It's particularly grossed when used as a verb like that. The only people who say "coding" are pic related

The term "code generation" just comes from the archaic term "source code". It is a bad name, especially considering you fags already call the language you're compiling "code". So I turn my code into code, which then assembles into code! Fucking great. None of it is a code. All of it is freely available to everyone in the fucking world. It's a code in the same way sign language is a "code".

what do you mean? source packages?
I remember last time I used it wasn't really bad, just the limited repo killed it for me

According to Wikipedia it has 6000 binary and 6719 source packages.

Arch a shit. Macfag themes even more a shit. Please avoid posting anything like this ever again.

>Wish they had it.
If he wished he had it, he'd just install it instead. It's not like MacOS is harder to install than Arch, kek. Clearly he's just a retard (confirmed by distro choice) who thinks Mac is pretty but doesn't want to suffer with actually using MacOS.

>>60073653
His font rendering is fine. He just has a stupid macfag theme.

>>60073743
Jesus, that hinting makes my eyes bleed. You clearly don't have a typography background.

your really dumb

>>60077406
To be fair, it's better than having a bar on the bottom of the screen because you have less vertical space than horizontal space.

Although the best thing to do is just hide it, it solves both issues.

>>60077374
binaries too, I haven't run into anything it doesn't have

>quotes use old style numbers
You clearly don't have a typography background. Old style numbers should be used in body copy because they blend in more. Having a string of old style numbers on it's own is heavily distracting because of the constant shifting ascenders and descenders. I would argue that the reply should have higher hierarchy than the quote number.

Guess you're not big on computer science either, huh?

Look at the money in your fucking pocket, you idiot. Where is the body text? You've got to be trolling.

While the extension will move the legacy tray into the top-bar it is bad for two reasons:
1) It is an extension when it should be an internal component
2) It still leaves the legacy tray visible from time to time, even when empty

It is sad that you have to use extensions in GNOME to make it usable, but I sure am glad for them to exist in the first place.
