I haven't been in the scene for over a year. Whcich keycaps are most popular now? Which artisan caps are good now besides the usual suspect?
>>
>>60055621
Right now hi pro is the big meme. Massdrop decided to fund mat3o and now they have their own custom high profile keycaps that you can get right now. The chinks have also bought SPs old hi pro tooling and are now making SA keycaps. Vortex is also developing their own hi pro clones and are already begining to roll them out. As far as artisan keycaps go we don't really talk about those here, but Ducky has entered the game and is now making and selling some
>>
>>60055265
I think you can, you "just" need to be licensed? From what I've seen it's not as hard there as it is in some countries, and suppressors aren't regulated the same way there as here.

Ducky is also experimenting with a lot of shit right now, including hi pro keycaps. They have artisans like:

But also are doing funky keyboards like the MK fission, the "new" poker ii, the shine 6, DSX, and a few other things.

Free reasonable controller for local co-op with girlfriend and pals. Feature rich lighting. Very quiet. Alleged squeaking develops over time. Preferred low profile. Macro keys. Kinda plasticy. Some complaints about typing comfort. Rubber, adjustable feet. Costs 100 bong. 3 years old but steelseries claim they aren't intending to replace it soon.

Not fucking ginormous, nicely accessible enter key for thumb-tapping. Cherry brown. Very sturdy but flip out feet. Costs 70 bong. Less than a year old.

Redragon vs Magicforce? Do they really use different switches? Redragon claims they use a Green switch but the physical switch is blue. Magicforce says they use blue and the switch is blue.

redragon has "custom"-made switches which is code for no-name chink knockoffs. magicforce you can get with gateron switches which are considered to be very legit in the keyboard nerd community

First time poster here. Own a Logitech g310 with romer G keys, have had a decent experience with em. Have some bonus bucks to spend, split between the blackwidow chroma green, corsair k95 browns or reds and corsair k95 platinum. Have no experience with cherry mx keys and I live in the middle of nowhere so can't test keys myself. Mostly typing with casual gaming, any recommendations? RGB lighting would be great, any backlit would be good, but typing experience is the top priority. Any suggestions?

Thanks for reply, like I mentioned, I game casually (3 hour per week maybe), mostly typing (~30 hours per week). I wasn't looking forward to disclose it to avoid memes and prejudice, but I live in India, so amazon remains my only option (including import from Amazon US which I was looking forward to). I did love other options, mainly ducky but availability is an issue. So yeah, those 2 are my only options (with the inclusion of k95 platinum rgb as well but I'd prefer the original due to the bundle of macros, something which I actually use on my naga and look forward to on a keyboard). Again, any feedback at all is appreciated, also I'll check that site if there's any leads to delivery here. Cheerio!

I recently picked up a leopold fc980c in black with black switches (supposedly they're less rigid then normal blacks, lubed or something). I was hoping to pick up some keycaps to go along with it. I am very interested in finding a set of caps that look similar to the old ibm ones (grey + creme). The closest ones that I've been able to find were on massdrop. The groupbuy ends in a few days and I am not willing to drop 150+ on getting caps. Any reccomendations for where I should look? In general, I need:
6.25u space
1.75u Rshift
1u meta, alt, ctrl/meta, numpad 0

I wouldn't mind a carbon or dolch set either. My problem is I don't want to spend money on anything that isn't 1.5mm (thick) pbt. I'd prefer side printed, but I know that isn't going to be easy or practical to find.

My dad wants a mechanical keyboard for typing. It needs to be ISO, and preferably with a Nordic layout, but we could get custom keycaps for it if needed. Preferably nothing garish, KBParadise's v100 looks really good, but it's not available in ISO.
>>
>>60062870
That Indian TVS Gold keyboard also looks good, but it's only available in that Bigass layout.
>>
>>60062908
Indian here, can confirm its authentic cherry blues, build is okayish, clicks are satisfying, although just 5 key rollover, but not an issue unless you game. Pretty much the best thing you can get for $40.

>TFW you bought a Planck on MD with cherry greens like 2 months ago and it's not even gonna ship for another 2 months.

Also, how hard is it to adapt to ortholinear? It will be my first ortholinear board. Should I go full retard and try to learn Dvorak on a 40% ortholinear board with blank keycaps?

If I'm too much of a brainlet to figure out how to be quick on it, could I sell it to a normie on plebbit who's too stupid to be able to solder it up themselves for more than what I paid for it? I also bought a pack of 3mm white leds I will be adding to each switch

I feel like if I play it right given that it has the mass drop only edition green aluminum back plate and the leds and the cherry greens and the fact that it would be fully assembled I could maybe sell it for more than I paid for it..

Which switches? My daily driver is a pok3r with cherry clears, feels good, just remap the fn key on caps lock using one of the switches on the back (look it up on the manual) so using the arrows on J-K-L-I will feel more natural.
Also any 60% keycap set will be fine.

What year is this? The shine 3 was worst keyboard Ducky has ever made. At least they learned from their mistakes and fixed the LED problems in the shine 4. Should I listen to this guy or not?

He told me Cherry switches are bad.

I've tried blues, browns, and reds but I dislike reds and want something lighter than blues, and everyone keeps telling me browns are shit so I don't even know what I want anymore.

Only thing I'm sure I want is whatever the smallest mech with a function row you can get is.

Also what exactly is wrong with brown switches and cherry MX in general, if anything?
>>
>>60074186
>the bumps on QC
I know what he is trying to say but he just sounds like such a philistine.

Anyway, Gateron switches are smoother than Cherry MX, the latter of which are considered scratchy. Browns are dismissed because the tactile bump is small. You probably want a 75% layout.
>>
>>60074186
Cherry switches aren't as smooth as gaterons, which is why some people consider them superior. Now the smallest keyboard that you can get with a function row is a GH60, but you'd probably want something like the noppoo nano instead.
>>
>>60074280
>>60074341
Thank you both. If I go with Gatreon do you have any recommendations? I want something a bit lighter than blues.
>>
>>60064577
Cherry makes non mech boards? that's funny
>>
>>60074390
The lightest switches are 35g gateron clears, and 30g electro capacitive. Blues are 55g. How much lighter are you looking for?
>>
>>60074460
Heavier than browns, lighter than blues?

Only thing that fits those specifications are blacks but I'm scared to get those.

I'll probably end up just getting blues and putting rings on them to be honest, thanks anyways for your help I guess.

Just bought a brown switch Corsair KG70, first time using a mechanical kb as well, feel pretty good
>>
>>60075085
The big reason why Ducky RGB keyboards became popular was that they didn't require software. At the time RGB software was so buggy that it would crash very easily, so having hardware controls was much better then the corsair shit would kill your LEDs. Of course over time the software has become better and Ducky does indeed have software on their new keyboards
>>

I like them as a fan of stiff keys, they honestly feel stiffer than buckling springs because you tend to bottom out more, where the force increases. The fact that they spring back really quickly makes them feel snappy IMO. I can understand why hardcore typists may not care for them, but, like most comparisons say, they *are* good for gaming, when you spend lots of time leaning on keys and don't want to mispress anything.

Using a Microsoft Comfort Curve 3000 right now(see pic), and I want something that's shaped ergonomically like that.

All of these have the `fn` key on the right side of the spacebar.

Does anyone make one with the `fn` on the left?

IMO, don't stagger, also it needs a thumb cluster.
Have fun.

Have you considered getting an actual ergo board?

I know magicforce keyboards have dip switches that change the position of the fn key to the left side.

I was able to order 2 3u spacebars for $9 from aliexpress, but they're asking me to send in a fucking bank statement before I can order a $75 set of caps...

Weird. Maybe your credit card info was stolen so when it appeared on the database of stolen credit cards it prevented it from completing the transaction, until they can verify that its you.

My bank statement doesn't show anything funny, and I used the exact same card for both purchases. I even made the $9 one *after* it had prevented me from making the $75 one.

How many of you use wrist rests?
i was thinking about buying this. since most other foam or gel wrist rest seem to have durability issues.

Ayyy, I got mine today, though I went cheap and got the one with Outemu Blacks (there isn't one available with either Gateron or Cherry MX Blacks, only Outemu and Kailh). Never thought I'd actually like the stiffness of Outemu Blacks like this, but it feels really nice.

I can definitely recommend one. It's hard to type without one now. I got one of those pc mustard race ones but they get a bit grimy after a while and are kinda hard to properly clean. I might get a wooden one in the future.
>>
>>60086483
To be honest, you might as well get a topre clone if you have to buy hyperspheres just to make the RGB Realforce sound better.

The RC930 is cheaper and has dental bands preinstalled.

I mean, if I have to take it apart to install silencing rings and/or invest $$$ in new keycaps, what's the fucking point in buying a $200+ keyboard?

I really want a topre board but I don't like any topre boards out there and it bums me out.
>>
>>60087812
leopold topre keyboards come with thick PBT keycaps.
>>
>>60087837
Different anon, the FC980C would be completely perfect if it was just programmable. That's the only thing missing from it.
>>
>>60087860
Why would it need to be programmable if it's nearly full size?

If you want something programmable, the FC660C recently had a controller made.
