so will the honor 6x be the best camera I can get for a mid-level budget?

The s7 camera is prolly the best and its 420 british bucks while the honor 6x is only 210 british bucks.

The performance seems close enough outside of really bad lighting, in which case why the fuck are we taking pictures anyway?

Is it a normal for Xiaomi Mi5 to have the screen go completely red in the split second after you lock the screen but before it actually goes black?

I though my eyes were broken, but I recorded it happening, picrelated (the picture in the background is basically completely blue). I'd post a webm, but the whole thing is literally three frames: blue, red, black.

I'm still using my second-gen Moto G I got in December 2014. It has been everything I wanted from a phone: cheap, well-built and reliable with MicroSD expansion and an acceptable camera. The fact that it has gotten just as many updates as the flagships of the time is also a huge plus, especially since it only cost me $180 off contract.

My question is, would it be worth upgrading to the G5 from this? LTE and the higher screen resolution would be nice but I also worry about battery life and build quality, plus dat camera bump is ugly af compared to my phone's nearly flat exterior. Should I maybe wait for those Nokias, or just not bother at all?

G5+ battery life is great, camera is f1.7 aperture so decent shots in low light conditions, SD625 SoC with Quick charge, but to be honest man quick charge alone is a reason for upgrading from a 2G Moto G

But G5 as in regular is not getting great reviews because quick charge isn't available on it, the screen isn't as good and apparently screen brightness will kill the battery quick, also apps like Snapchat make it struggle so take that FWIW

Reposting from other bred:

So i had the Note 2 (as my first smartphone -- i stuck to my fliphone for too long) and it crapped out...then i got a Nexus 6 and it has recently gone to total shit: everything loads slow as fuck, camera is shitty wont charge sometimes etc, and i really tried to be gentle with both

What im asking is -- i literally just want a phone that is above all reliable, but also has a good camera and doesnt have a shitty ass processor or whatever.

USA, Sprint, budget is like...$600 or less??, and i dont care what size in the slightest, but big phones are cool.

I guess the Plus is not much bigger or more expensive so it is probably alright. I don't really like super-sized phones and I find 5" to be a good compromise in the absence of something the size of my old HTC One V.

Snapchat fucking struggles on all Android phones regardless of specs because it is a piece of shit program written by iOSphiles. One of my friends has a Blackberry Priv, which despite being a powerful phone, still has noticeable Snapchat lag. Not as bad as mine, but it's there.

most important for me, a built-in call blocker/filterer.

Then there are a couple of unimportant but annoying things. stock is too minimalist. doesn't even have a 'clear all' key for recent apps, you have to swipe them all manually. doesn't show percentage for battery, have to swipe twice to see it. stupid shit like this. minimalism is bad when it makes tasks more tedious.

yes also a music player.

My stock Android phone displays the battery charge level. Maybe there is just some setting you haven't fucked around with?

I hear you on the music player though. When I used to have my Galaxy S3 the stock Samsung player did everything I needed it to with minimal fuss. I've since gone back to using my old iPod as a music player because all the ones I've come across on Android have been either slow, clunky, botnet, cluttered or some combination of the aforementioned qualities. Nothing like the iPod interface out there: just get shit done. I don't want fucking discography and band photos pulled from the Internet, I want to get in my car, plug the fucking thing in and play shit.

Okay so something really weird happened... I flashed latest Lineage OS on my phone and after rebooting when I tried to decrypt it complained my password was incorrect... Tried several times but it still said it wasn't the correct password. Rebooted and then entered my password, it then said "reboot your device to unlock phone" which I did and then upon the next boot I entered my password and this time it was accepted. Does anyone know why this happened? Did some file get corrupted during update and then Android restored it or what the fuck happened?

Hey. So I've got a budget of $175, but I can bump that up to 250 or even 300 if it's worth the upgrade. Right now have Samsung Galaxy Express3, and it's driving me nuts.
Best budget phone?
I'm going to have AT&T.
I'm looking for something with good cameras, not just the rear one.
Has to have at least 3gb RAM
USB-C is also imperative
I don't care about storage if it has a microSD slot.
Dual-Sim not important.
I would appreciate the help.
Right looking into a Nextbit Robin, but I heard it snaps in half.
Also looked at the ZUK Z2 and Huawei Honor 6X
Sadly, I can't get a Oneplus 3T, as they are out of budget but I'm wondering in the Oneplus 2 is still worth it.

My current phone is a G3 (AT&T), I've liked it so far, but the camera is kinda shitty, and the battery drain got bad after a year.
What'll be a good choice later this year under $300 CAD, that has a better camera than the G3, won't drain the battery, and will last me at least 2 years?

I had a ZF2 and it was a good phone until the inherent design flaw that caused the phantom touches showed up
The ZF3 line looks like they fixed that issue, but I'm not sold on the zoom when I heard last gens had motor issues with the optical zoom, I would recommend you look for another phone like the Honor 8 or a Xperia X or X performance
The camera setup looks nice and I like the SoC, but I'm not convinced it's worth $399, especially considering the last gen

Ok so i am using a galaxy alpha and thinking of upgrading. These are my options:
>1+3t 439 €
>HTC 10 525 €
>S7 edge 490 €
The 1+ and the HTC i can buy new from the store and the S7 online also new but not sure about the warranty since sellers are mostly people who buy them on contract and sell them for some qucik bucks. (that is how i got the alpha). Don't really care about the warranty since i plan on rooting it and flashing some custom ROM's on it.
How are the Rom's for the s7? Instaled some on the alpha but camera was shit and ROM full of bugs.

ZUK Z2 and Redmi Note 4 Global have two out of three LTE bands used by T-Mobile (B2 and B4, no B12) so they should get LTE in most places. LeEco phones support all T-Mobile bands but they don't have MicroSD slots.

>Tablet suggestions
I really like my 6.5" Doogee Y6 Max. Good screen, great speaker, good enough SOC, 3GB RAM. Good enough cameras too. Totally useless GPS, wifi and bluetooth share antenna so using both results in audio stuttering.

I bought this when I was looking for a 7" tablet. Basically all the cheap chinese 7" tablets are pure garbage and those overpriced 7" tables sold locally have worse specs at twice the price.

Not sure if the gigantic phone I got will be right for you but more generally, if you want a 7" tablet then a 6.5" phone will get you a lot more for way less. If you want 8" then perhaps it's slightly too small. What I can tell you is that for me 6.5" is totally perfect as a tablet around the home. I barely use the 10" I have anymore because that's just too big. I basically either just grab the laptop or use the 6.5" tablet.

>>59950527

Don't buy LG phones unless you want massive buyers remorse and the smallest planned obsolescence not even a week after purchase, those pieces of shit are prone to bootloop at all times, you just can't rely on them for anything, hell LG is even in a serious lawsuit over it after they discovered ALL their phones starting from the nexus 5 started to bootloop because they are cheap fucking chinks who can't bother to solder properly a piece of technology they had the nerve to sell at 600+ dollars.

The M8 is ancient, i'd suggest buying a cheap stopgap like the redmi note 3 pro to use while you wait for either the S7 or the HTC10 to lower in price even more, don't fall for the S7E meme, the S7 is guaranteed to sink as low as 280 burgers and all the S7E offers over it is the curved screen meme, a slightly bigger battery (nice on paper, rendered pointless by the bigger screen) and being available in more colors (glossy BLACKED and red)

Canadafag here perfectly happy with my Moto G4. Well the second one at least, because the original developed some faults so I just returned it to Lelnopevo under warranty and had a new unit back to me within two weeks. The most inconvenient aspect of that RMA was having to drive to Costco to buy a cheap burner phone, and then return it once I had my Moto back. Did I mention it only cost me like $200 unlocked from Best Buy?

>>59950578
Didn't the SD808 also have some overheating issues? I have a friend with a Blackberry Priv and while objectively a nice design, it gets stupid hot and throttles itself so badly that sometimes you notice slowdowns in Youtube. And apparently it used to be even worse under Lollipop.

>>59950967
There is no way in hell that you will find a phone with those specs for that price. It's perfectly reasonable to charge $80-$120 for a 1GB/8GB phone if the build quality, screen and battery are acceptable.

The S8 already has screen issues as well, check on xda, the fucking thing has a red tint to it not to mention you're getting fucked in the ass by touchwizz anyway and that android skin gets insanely slow after a few months of use.

Try a sony phone, it's not exactly stock but it doesn't have any bloat either (just their own little interface and some sony apps), always comes with front stereo speakers, sd slot, the third best DAC for audio after htc and lg, japanese a e s t h e t i c s and they're always waterproof, iirc it was them who started the trend.

I've had my xperia zr for almost 4 years now and it still works. Got updatet to 5.0.1 from 4.3(?) I think so you'll get at least 2 years of updates I think. I like their phones, next one will be either a sony or a nokia if their 660 midranger is any good (and not a fucking phablet).

Also what about the htc 10? It's still a good phone imo.
>>
>>59956576
>you'll get at least 2 years of updates I think.
neat. I'll have to look into them. I hardly ever hear about Sony's phones so I was skeptical.

>HTC 10
I'm really pedantic and will only buy phones that have released in the last 6 months. Also, I thought HTC had gone down the shitter in the last few years? The last phone I had by them was the DNA (best phone I ever owned) but I heard the quality of their stuff never progressed.
>>
>>59956539
Nope, when people complain about sony phones it's usually because of their pricing (irrelevant now because everyone and their mother is selling thin, fragile glass slabs for 800 dollars plus tax whereas sony is sticking to their waterproofed brick design), updates are typical flagship just like other major companies; you get OS updates for a year and half (ie if you started on say, android 7.1 you get 7.2 shortly after purchase, 8.0, 8.1 and maaaybe a beta of 9) and then the next three years only security updates, they're pretty sturdy too, i had a Z2 and it was fantastic, too bad a nigger stole it.

To be honest I was happier with it than I am with my Galaxy S6. Overall I think Motorola is fine but probably only if you are looking to spend $350 or under.
>>
So, my Nexus 5 finally died, and I'm looking for a <=300€ alternative.
I've noticed that the Huawei P8 Lite 2017 seems really good, and I wouldn't mind a Nexus 5X if I could find one for a decent price.

Any other recommendation? Not looking for a >5.5" screen. Bonus points if it's not some bad OS like the one on Samsung phones.

Oh right, I had not considered the sale to Lelnopevo. I also have a Y510p, the driver support on this machine has been horrendous. The update to Windows 10 actually fixed a lot of the problems I was having, because Microsoft's generic shit drivers worked better than Lenovo's. Buidl quality is also not great. Based on my experience I would not buy another Lenovo product, except maybe for a Thinkpad.
>>
>>59950276
>Way too much for such old models, if those prices are in US dollars

No, the US prices would be

Z5 - $430
Z3+ -$336

Apparently you can't buy the Z3 regular anymore.

Basically, it's a difference of $100 between the two of them after shipping and taxes. I'm edging towards the Z3+ because it looks like it has better battery life. For reference I use a Samsung Galaxy SII right now. Pretty much anything is an upgrade.

>Display
If you're looking for a vibrant display, look elsewhere. It works and the screen can get really bright but it's nothing special colorwise. I don't mind for the most part, but now Ambient Display turns on the whole screen which kind of defeats the point.
>Fingerprint reader
I never needed one though I don't give a shit about security, so take that with a grain of salt
>Performance for basic tasks like Facebook, YouTube?
Both fine, I deleted the facebook app as it's a battery hog and I couldn't control what notifications I would get. Also found it was making me really cynical.
>Since it's a 2 year phone even if I buy it new after 1 year not really sure how it will perform
Well, as I said earlier, update support has been terrible and it doesn't have nougat yet. Battery life is good though.

Also the bluetooth has been utterly broken on it since sometime last year. It's not isolated as it seems to be a common issue according to the Moto X subreddit.
>>
>>59957673
Don't cave and don't buy anything. Your phone is less than two years old and if I were to hazard a guess, you have absolutely no reason to upgrade. You didn't breakfast it, there are still security updates being issued, and 4GB of RAM + Exynos 7420 are more than enough to tackle anything.

Stop being a consumerist whore and get that Korean dick out of your mouth.

the HTC 10 unlocked version is on sale for $500. Someone in the thread recommended it and honestly even though it's a year-old it ticks a lot of features I want.

Only problem is I currently have Verizon and the international version doesn't work on Verizon natively, you need to flash something to activate it on CDMA.

I consider myself pretty good with computers but have never flashed anything on a phone before. Is this worth the risk?

>>
>>59959072
I used to use the ASUS file manager but recently switched to another app just called... File Manager (by Flashlight + Clock I believe). The main reason is because it's completely free and has no ads.

I still find it disgraceful that the two most popular mobile operating systems have no native file manager, and yet both my Blackberry 9300 (cheap shit device running BBOS 5 when I first got it) and my Classic (made when Blackberry was apparently failing) both managed to have super functional and good-looking file managers built in. For Priv owners, did Blackberry bother to port the BBOS 10 file manager to Android, like they did with the keyboard? Because if so I would use that in a heartbeat.
>>
>>59958201
So I'm curious, why do you say the Pixel XL was never worth it? What do you think about it?
>>
>>59959157
The G2 and G3 still have issues, just not as many. My G2 had a partial touchscreen failure, which seems to be the most common problem. The G3 gets the "screen flickering" problem. Both are related to overheating, and it's because they used shitty Snapdragon SoCs coupled with poor soldering work. Other phones with the same SoCs still get hot but they don't die because they're made correctly.
>>
>>59959384
not him but the Pixel XL is priced higher than a Galaxy S8 despite offering almost none of the same features.

it's absurdly expensive for a phone that's basically just stock android with lots of support.
