The movement is commonly used in lower end Seikos like the 5 series, which you can get for like $70.

That said, those aren't dive watches and are generally missing features compared to the SKX and other Seikos.

>>
>>59913876
That cannot be real. Please tell me that's a fake. Jesus Christ.
>>
>>59913968
More like base or elabore. The 6r15 has a longer power reserve, no handwinding issues, and good reliability but is really let down by a lack of adjustment and lack of a micro-adjuster for the regulator.
>>
>>59914022
So how is it regulated ... ? Can only seiko regulate it? Even the 7S26 has an adjuster.

>>59913968
I've never seen a top grade 2824 but I would think the ETA should be nicer for how much they charge for them.
>>
>>59914069
It has a regulator arm but not a micro-adjuster for the regulator. That has two downsides, first is that it's harder to regulate accurately but second is that the lack of a micro-adjuster means minor shocks to the movement can easily knock the regulator arm and screw up the regulation.

How's the accuracy on that one?

That movement and its contemporaries in the 1970s (the Seiko 52xx, ETA 2892-A2 and Rolex 3035) are all fascinating to me because it shows four companies getting to roughly the same accuracy level and feature set around the same time, and that all four of them found ~95% of the possible technological advancement in production automatic movements.

Aside from significant gains in power reserves, there has been very little progress made in terms of positional variance, isochronism, or reliability since the late 1970s. Even insanely expensive technologies like multi-axis tourbillons and constant force escapements offer only marginal improvements over what was achieved in the 1970s in series produced movements.

It gains like exactly 1 second per day after I got it serviced, and here's what it looked like before servicing if you want to see some watch gore. Unfortunately it's usually stopped since I don't wear it often enough to keep it wound all the time, but I've worn it for like a week straight and it gained 7 seconds in 7 days of wear.

With the swan neck regulator, you could probably fine tune that to a reasonable approximation of +0. How amazing is that? Even today a Rolex 3235 isn't expected to do any better than +/- 2 s/d.
>>
>>59914575
+/- 2s/d is the spec'd rating, not necessarily what any given piece will actually do. A 9R65 is rated for +/-15s/month but you can find a lot of owners saying theirs will gain about 5 or 6 seconds after a month.

I'm aware, I just mean that most Rolex owners would be perfectly happy with a 3235 running +1 SPD, and yet Omega, Rolex Seiko and ETA achieved the capacity to produce that kind of accuracy 40 years ago.

In reality, a lot of what has changed between then and now is not so much the capacity to hit that kind of accuracy in a production environment, bur rather the consistency of manufacturing and assembly quality to do it with a much lower reject rate than would have been required in the 1970s.

Just as an example, Seiko was able to offer VFA models in the 1970s with +/- 60 seconds per month accuracy ratings, but in order to do so they had to lavish labour on the watches in cherry picking parts, inspecting them, assembling them and adjusting them (and rejecting the examples that failed).

Today Rolex is able to offer a +/- 2 SPD rating on a production movement without expecting that to significant affect the QC rejection rate or the adjustment labour required.
>>
>>59914667
I'm assuming that +/-2 s/d stands for all positions, which is nice. I've read about single examples of lots of movements which have had really good accuracy, but of course not all of them are like that. For example, the lemania 1873 I have does +/- 0 dial up but gains 3s/d crown down.

8bt/s vs the Seiko's 6bt/s, far smoother sweep, inherently more accurate too.

The Sinn is also rated for 200m, but does not display on the dial.
Lumed bezel, which should be insta buy material in itself.
Day/Date display that doesn't reduce the aesthetic value of the watch.

The only things that can really be said against the sinn in this particular comparison, is it does have a very busy dial, there's no need for many if any of the sub-second indices, and the only piece of Sinn technology featured in the 104 is their Captive Bezel.

The Sinn features an SW200-1, so a 2824-2 clone, which means, plentiful supply of spares and cheap services because of this.

>>
>>59917533
The Sinn 104 doesn't have the de-humidifier or better scratch resistance.

It might have better magnetic resistance, but I'm not sure since the Sinn has a display back.

Only technical advantage of the Sinn is the higher beat rate, but that comes with 20% less power reserve compared to the Seiko.

I do believe however that the Sinn has better "brand feel".
>>
>>59917543
If he's set on the $1000 price range for watches, his options are severely limited in what is actually worth that much.
The Sinn shouldn't disappoint, but yes, it doesn't have many, if any of the things that make Sinns distinctive.

>wouldn't you want to save up for the real Sinn experience™?
I "like" Sinn, but not enough to blow a couple thousand bucks on one of their watches.

In the 1k range, having "Sinn" on the dial is in itself an advantage over having "S E I K O" emblazoned on there.

More than that and it gets tricky, especially with the generic ebauches they use.

Having said that, I do like the look of the Sinn EZM 3F better than the 104, but it's 50% higher in price with basically the same movement.
If this was 1k, i'd be all over it.

Started using a vintage Пoбeдa recently. As far as I can tell, the strap is probably not the one it originally came with so I intend to replace it once I find a suitable one. Issue is that I can't find an indicator on which model it is, since the dial doesn't say anything aside from pobeda and some other cyrillic in the bottom, which I assume means it's made in the CCCP.

Well, it was made by the 1st Moscow watch factory. (Later known as Poljot)

Simple, (somewhat) reliable and cheap to boot, though it lacks any shock-protection on the balance and never had any waterproofing.

Afraid i don't remember how to read these Pobeda serials anymore, so mid 50's is an accurate but rough estimate.

It's a 50~60$ watch in pristine shape, yours is more to the 30~35$ range.

Here are the simple facts: Nomos are literally the first new company to develop the capacity to design and manufacture mechanical movements including escapements on a series production basis since the 1960s. They join Raketa, Vostok, Orient, Citizen, Seiko, ETA and Rolex as the only non haute horlogerie companies capable of this.

Developing this capability took a several year and ~12 million Euro investment in escapements and a further ~2 million Euro investment in designing the ultra-thin DUW 3001 calibre. These are enormous investments from a company with an annual sales volume of 10,000 - 20,000 units, and as a result must necessarily be reflected in increased unit prices.

In an affordable luxury watch market heavily dominated by Chinese-cased ETA-powered marketing-driven shitters, any watchmaker that makes the investments required to become a manufacture and actually increase the technical diversity of series produced mechanical movements should be applauded no matter whether you like the aesthetics of their product line. To the extent that Nomos succeeds by following this path, it may serve to encourage more investment in the technical aspects of watchmaking by other companies rather than just investing in more value engineering (i.e. cost-cutting) and more advertising.

Just in the last 10 years we have gone from a $1,000-$4,000 market where every single watch was powered by an ETA movement to one where you can now choose between ETA, Tudor, Nomos, and Seiko (8rXXs, 8LXXs). How can this development be regarded as bad for people interested in horology, regardless of whether you would personally buy any of those watches yourself? If only Miyota and Seiko would add micro-adjuster models to their ebauche offerings and Tudor would begin to use their in-house movement in more models, we could return to an era of real competition in movements in production watches not seen since the glory days of the 1970s.

That's fine. They handle the most basic duties of a watch. Check out the $7 pope casio too.
>>
>>59918879
Who cares what movement they have in them if they look like a 2 year old made them. Stop posting this.

Thanks fa m
>>
>>59918998
They are traditional 1920's & 30's Bauhaus designwise. It's not for everyone, but I don't get how they look "childish" or anything like that.

I want to try a different band on my watch, but don't really know what might look good on it, any recommendations?
It's a Certina DS action diver.
>>
>>59919436
A simple nato, a rubber band if you really dive, or a jubilee bracelet from strapcode etc.
Never fucking ever put divers on a leather strap.
>>
>>59918854

I had to give a lecture the following day and needed a watch to pace myself, so I couldn't wait two weeks for a cheap strap to arrive from China
>>
>>59919436
Try fashioning a strap out of toilet paper. Would go really well with that watch.
>>
>>59919076
>I don't get how they look "childish" or anything like that.

They don't look childish, they look like they could be made for about half a dollar and any 5 year old could come up with it. Congratulations for cutting off the second half of my post when quoting, I qualify that part just fine.

it's a bazaar orient that houses an automatic wheel movement above a quartz three hand movement. I love it for some reason
>>
>>59918527
I'd get the blue on bracelet if possible. I always try to get the bracelet as it's easier to get rubber etc aftermarket than a bracelet that fits in the aftermarket.

If not then black with bracelet.
>>
>>59908983
I'm onto you, jew!
>>
>>59920262
Unfortunately only the black dial is available with a bracelet. The blue dial is only available with the rubber strap.

Your tzair is showing amigo, you should probably find something better to do, other than posting on anonymous vietnamese basket weaving image boards in your limited free time off for pass-over.

I have only seen copies of the tangente (some with an ahoi dial) so far. but i don't know about more expensive "replicas", they probably exist.
the pr on that is just a regular pr indicator, with a disk instead of the hand. it wouldn't be very hard to fake, assuming you have a movement with the pr in the same place.
