So, I'm going to choose this speciality at my studies in the not too distant future. What would /g/ recommend to learn to increase my knowledge in this field/upcoming studies. As of now I'm pretty OK in terms of SQL and I'm slowly getting myself to know R. Is there anything I should look at? Any literature/sites to get me in more on this subject?

Some python for data analytics would be useful.

Other than that, I would recommend you to start reading about statistics, machine learning and pattern recognition.
