I need a CDMA phone. Verizon works best.
CDMA Works. GSM does not. GSM isn't bad service, it's LITERALLY NONE for my area.

What are some good CDMA Verizon options for a midrange phone?

I want the following.
1920x1080 (real 1080p, no samsung shit)
Removable Battery + Headphone Jack + SD Card + Hardware buttons (capacitive with physical home works), just no onscreen shit ones. + Glass screen + LED light

Needs to have a manufacturer supplied method to unlock the bootloader to let me flash custom roms and shit.

HTC lets you do it.
LG seems to as well.

ZTE does not. Fuck ZTE.

>>
>>59797337
I think it depends on how much ram your phone has, my moto g lte (1GB) used to lag horribly if i watched youtube videos on the browser so i had to use the separate app, i upgraded to a moto g play (2GB) and watching videos on the browser was fine but still noticeably laggy, then i got a htc10 (4GB) and i haven't noticed any lag with it, then again the other two were budget phones and this one is a full fledged flagship so the snapdragon chip might matter as well, i don't know, you could ask someone on chinkshit general to check with their redmemes, those have 3GB of ram and a midrange snapdragon.
>>
>>59798017
There were two GOAT operating systems, WebOS and BBOS 10. I have had the pleasure of owning devices that ran both of them, and they both kicked the shit out of the current options. Problem is none of the consumer cunts ever bought in to either one (and WebOS had the added disadvantage of being around at the same time as Leo Apotheker). Now all we have is garbage.

>>59799372
I was planning to get a Priv to replace my Classic, and while the overall physical package is impressive, the phone felt compromised in a few ways. The physical keyboard is tiny and shallow, and while I am impressed that they managed to fit it under the screen like that, it is just not as good as the Bold / Q10 / Classic, so it felt like a downgrade for me. The phone also runs really hot, and battery life is worse than my Classic despite the much, much larger battery. I blame the SD808 for that. I am going to hold out for the KeyOne, although I already know I will not be entirely happy with Android, even if BlackBerry has one of the best implementations of it.

one issue with gsm and phone arena is that neither site seems to be focused on the american market and not listing all the phones

for instance theres no phones listed under $100 but BLU themselves has a bevy of phones with latest androids for $50-$100

also there needs to be an easier way to sort for "3G / 4G / LTE american bands" rather than just quad band cause there are more LTE bands here than just the 4th

but thats just another reason why those sites are kinda useless

desu, if you want a price to performance phone, you'll buy a BLU

otherwise just get the latest Google Phone

no reason to bother with anything else, even more now that CMod is discontinued

>>
So my Nexus 6p shit the bed, and I might have to get a new phone since my warranty is expired (the tech guy said he'll talk to his supervisor, so fingers crossed).

What android phone should I get? It needs to be android because I'm basically a slave to google and switching to apple would be very inconvenient.

I live in the USA and will be using AT&T.

Wanted features: Well, it should be a high end-ish phone, so to speak. 1080p screen, good camera, high end specs, etctera. I also want to be highly customizable as my Nexus 6p was. I use my phone everyday and for almost everything, so I don't want to skimp out

Budget: I'm willing to spend $600, maybe a little more if it's worth it.

size: As long as it's not ridiculously huge (like can't fit in pockets huge), it's fine.
>>
>>59803569
well it's a bit more than i'd like to spend ideally but maybe i'll find something used. it's also a bit bigger than i was thinking but I'm sure I'd get used to it. I'll keep an eye out. appreciate the response.

OP3T or Pixel if you really like the Google support for updates you got on the 6P
>>
I have a OnePlus 3T for two weeks now.

I have not removed the screen protector that it came with since I got it. But I read somewhere that this is just for protecting the device while shipping it.

Should I run without any screen protector on or should I get tempered glass?
>>
Been rocking a Nexus 5 since near-launch. Battery is right fucked at this point, charging port is loose, and the GPS only works half the time. I could invest like $50 in getting all this resolved (new battery, new microUSB daughterboard, new backplate with antennas), but I feel like it's probably not worth it for a phone this old.

I have Sprint, and have been with them for more than 20 years. This means that they will bend over and do fucking anything to keep me as a customer, so I can basically get any phone they sell in stores for free. This restricts me to mostly normie-phones, but I'd really prefer not to have to pay retail price for a phone they don't sell.

Any recommendations? Samsung phones/TouchWiz are/is cancer, so I never even consider them. (should I?) Really wish I could get something with stock Android, but that's not the case. I don't need the 7" telephone meme, pretty much the smaller the better.

Considering LG G5, but it sold like shit and is already over a year old. Bad idea? Swappable battery seems nice.

My Note 3 just died on me.

I think I'm going to pick up the Galaxy J7.

All I really want from my phone is calling, texting, camera, a screen good enough to read books on, and expandable storage without being so low specced as to harm general usability. Anything good enough or as good as the J7 for that at less cost?

Hey, my last phone croaked so looking for a low-end phone in Finland, Carrier is Elisa.

I don't give a shit about mobile games or storing music/videos. Only needs to be able to browse 4chan and stream the occasional movie, though this might be long periods of time at once.

However because of my work the phone may be subject to extreme changes in temperature, physical trauma, corrosive chemicals and has to be usable while covered in sweat, machine grease and dust. Also my big fingers don't play well with small displays or buttons.

Extra features I'd appreciate would be long ass battery life, speaker loud enough to wake the dead and a good enough antenna to pick up network when underground.

Obviously I don't care what it looks like.

Budget is 500 € max

Why exactly do people want 1080p and 4K phones? What's so bad about 854x480 resolution?

Everything these days is designed with autism in mind. They design things for you to see them as they want you to, so, it's not like you can get more screen real estate with a higher res. It just adds more pixels to make the fonts and icons clearer.

From a usability standpoint, there's zero benefit to an increase in resolution due to the design philosophy adopted by 99% of app devs and website admins.

If I could get a 1920x1080 smartphone that browsed the web as a desktop, I'd be interested in using something like that a quality stylus. Mobile optimized pages on the other hand I do not give a shit about the resolution at all since the "experience" is dumbed down to, well, quite literally to 480p standards.

The issue here is that he assumed that since his contract with the provider was over, so would the restriction on a different provider SIM card but as I tested it with my own, it asked me for a network unlock code. Is there any way I can unlock it without having him contact the provider and, I assume, having to pay for it? Or is my best bet to simply ask him to talk with the provider about it?

How do you guys feel about project Fi? The low price is super appealing and I don't think I'll need unlimited data, but it means I'd have to get a Nexus or Pixel instead of a cheaper, basically-as-good phone.

While I appreciate the suggestion, I was looking for a more permanent solution since the phone is in fact staying with me. Thanks anyway anon.

Good deal if you have very light data usage. Even using 5GB a month though would make it more expensive than some carriers unlimited plans

Still, nice for the flexibility or if you want to subsidize a Pixel

What phone should I get if I want zero bloatware?

>>
honestly, that 3500 mAh battery with the small 5" screen on the Zuk Z2 is doing work... I consistently get 40-50 hours before I need a re-charge (i normally put it on re-charge at 20%).

my usage is maybe 1 hour of gaming (intense games like Sky Force) and a couple of hours of browsing/emails/calling/texting per day.

the idle drainage is extremely low. I've had 0% drain during 8 hours of screen off time. I've left Twitch running the entire night on Medium quality and low volume (9 hours), it drained about 55% of the battery.

i'm using pretty pretty aggressively and manage wifi/4g well.

Your best bet is getting anything remotely recent with LineageOS support. All manufacturers have their crap in place + most of google suite.

Butthurt or not, you are still wrong.
Screen protectors does not harm the screens in anyway whatsoever.
>>
>>59814126
He's a troll.
Don't mind him.

However I will say that screen protectors harm the user experience and feel of the device.

If you need one, you know.
If you don't need one, you don't need one.
If you THINK you need one, you probably don't and are just playing it safe.

Nothing's wrong with playing it safe.

Since smartphones are shitty by themselves (they're connected and capable, not exactly inherently useful by themselves in any way. Old iPods are better. They've got nicer music player UIs and hardware buttons) the moment your phone becomes "old" it's kind of useless to keep.

So, because of this, it's not really worth dealing with inconveniences throughout all of its useful lifetime in order to let it age well. Because once your favorite app gets updated to no longer support your version of android, you'll really wish you had a better time with it while it was in its prime lmao.

I'd rather finger some smooth high quality glass for 18 months and have it get scratched than be stuck fingering some nasty plastic screen protector in order to save the device.

But if you work on a beach and you're GOING TO get it scratched without one, by all means put it on. Chances are though most people with one on are playing it safe when they don't need to and, IMO, shouldn't be, especially if they don't plan to use the device for 6+ years.
>>
>>59814253
Stop using shitty plastic screen protectors. A quality glass screen protector with oleophobic coating will feel just as good to use as the phone screen itself

I saw a comment the other day justifying the size of the S8 with "some of us use our phone with two hands so it doesn't matter". I mean I guess if you're some kid in high school or a basement dweller you never have to worry about using your phone one-handed but some of us actually work full-time.

>>
>>59816569
Can you even reach the top of the screen with your thumb on any phone over 4 inches? Actually I just tried this with my old 3.6 inch Lumia. I can barely reach the top comfortably even on that tiny thing so it seems like a pretty moot point

On my OP3T I have it binded to the home button, I long press it and the notifications come up. I don't know why any phone UI puts anything on the top of the screen. Like web browsers, I haven't found one where the refresh button and url bar is at the bottom. On the home screen I have all the apps piled near the bottom right because it's the only area I can reach with no strain one-handed. But I still like the big screen
>>
>>59816780
I can comfortably reach the top on my 4.8' One X, but on my 5.0' Zuk Z2 it's a bit of a stretch, but possible.

This is why they're introducing new functionality to reach the notification bar by swiping downwards from the middle points of the screen, using the home button, etc. On my Zuk Z2 i've programmed the home button to bring down the notification bar by touching and holding.

Really stupid question here, but the G5 Plus isn't available in Canada. Does that mean carriers won't support it, or simply that I can't purchase it?

Ideally I'd get it over amazon and move carriers but don't want to waste the time or money if it won't work. Willmyphonework.com doesn't tell me anything

Verizon CDMA USA
Features to play some international mobage games...Video, Photos, Music, SD card support, cost not an issue. Prefer not to use the ios as I am not familiar with it versus android.
I'm being pulled in for the s8 but seeing 3t, pixel, and iPhone7 being interesting.

You won't get LTE in the vast majority of places with just band 5. Chinkphones suck for US LTE support for the most part. You need band 4 and 17 at the very least for AT&T.

>>
>>59816317
Bootloops galore. Seems like it is an inevitable result of the 808 heating and damaging the solder. Would not recommend.

Not to mention the shitty performance and underwhelming battery life.
>>
>>59817032
All Canadian carriers are GSM so you can basically just insert a sim card into an unlocked phone and get service immediately. Just make sure the model supports at least band 4. Ideally make sure it supports the other bands your carrier uses.

PPSSPP. You can get it from the play store or download the nightly apks from the website.
>>
>>59818172
You're not going to get perfect PSP emulation on anything. Even some PCs can't play certain games.

Anything cheap with an 820 (Zuk Z2, LeEco Le Max 2) will give you the best chance at good PSP emulation for a good price.
>>

can you guys help me?
I need a futureproof (no lag in 2-4 yrs) phone that is somewhat compact. I wanted to get a memephone SE first, but I hate branding, especially that ugly apple logo and I am unsure whether it is botnet or not and if jailbreaking it would be a good idea.

I don't really need a compact phone, my s4 is alright, but all new phones seem to be tablet size. I just want "normal" sized phone with timeless design that doesn't spy on me. I also don't care about games or anything like that, just lag free shit posting.
