I hope the 3 has roughly comparable build quality. I am fucking done with the flagship scene, tired of spending all kinds of money on phones that are going to be obsolete and unsupported in two years anyways. I've had an HTC One X and an LG G3, both cracked or otherwise broke with not much abuse, both have become troublesome after two years and both are losing support anyways. Why is it that companies keep fucking up with Touchjizz & other skins instead of having the phone come with stock Android?
Why do they insist on endlessly fucking up the good hardware by applying some piece of shit battery hogging skin like Touchwizz without giving users the choice of stock?
And when a ROM miraculously comes out for say, the S7/S7E, it's full of bugs and the camera isn't working.

Front facing speakers are non existent at this point at that price range if you want something that can keep up with the market without being too old. Like you'll have to go back to around 2015 flagship territory to find something, and that market is stupidly low tech somehow. Benchmarks after the 820 dropped saw such a huge rise in performance that todays mid rangers offer the same experience with battery effeciency up the ass. For example, Huawei's Kirin 650/660 chips offer 2015 flagship power and they are featured in phones around the 200-300€ price range. I own an Honor 7 Lite and the only thing holding it back is the Mali GPU for intensive gaming, and even then there is little to no crazy spike in temperature, this thing never gets hot.

But anyway, your choices with front facing speakers would be to dish out 59 euros more and either get an Axon 7 Mini or one of the Alcatel Idol 4s. Everything is basic stuff with these phones, you are not going to see flagship performance(both run on the 650 iirc which is a bit out of date already), you might never see Nougat, but both have crazy as shit audio capabilities, the Idol 4 especially being the loudest both with the speakers and headphones, without losing any quality.
If you want Nougat and some form of support in the future and can forego the loudspeakers, dish out an extra 30 and go for the Huawei P10 Lite. Like I said the Kirin 660 is some kind of black magic much like the 650, so far it seems like the P9 Lite its going to be the king of the mid range this year(cause lets be serious the Moto G5 line is a joke compared to the G4), and Huawei is making some serious effort.

I got few days ago at last a used Samsung S5. Had been 9 years with Nokia 5220 till now and now I've come to realization that I'm really noob when it comes to smartphones and their operating systems.

Are there like any sort of helpful videos on youtube that sort of teach to get into further to smartphones, teach about essential programs and shortcuts, tell what to delete outright and so on? I feel like lots of these things by default are bloatware taking up RAM and Storage.

I just wish to use the phone as a occasional GPS machine, and pretty much occasional everything machine for taking pictures/video, browse internet and that's about it, while keeping personal information and security as high as possible not giving shit to Google and shit. Like damn, all of these programs want my location data and shit, do I really need to use Google Play Store to download most things? Fuck that requires login to begin with.

I need a phone with 5 inches max (smaller preferred) with a really good camera and battery life.
Currently I'd buy the iPhone SE because of the form factor and camera. Do you have any other recs?

To compare the 2 pics.

The front of the left looks good compared to the pink of the back. The back of the right looks too saturated.

The sharpness overrides the slight color differentation. You can see the ferrari horse on the flag in the back much better.

How useful are in-built IR blasters?

Have 10+ cases here waiting on my S8+. To be honest my G4 on 7.0 is decent but the camera sucks hard and it's slow as a hot spot.

G6 - is really boring, but looks good and seems pretty safe IF it doesn't boot loop which is a big if. Software is a bit gross but can root in future. Not too sure about the 2:1 aspect ratio. Also dual camera is kinda gay.

S8 - Looks real good, but TouchWiz is gross, fingerprint scanner is gay, and the curves (at least the ones on the s7 edge, haven't seen an s8 irl ) make my eyes hurt, and is really breakable. Don't give a shit about camera. 18.5:9 is so gay though. But it's Probs still a good phone.

Do I have other options? Huawei p10 or honor 8? Should I wait for OP4 or pixel 2?

What kind of back do you want on a phone /g/?

Specify both materials and overall design.

I like metal backs but any scratches they get are very visible and unable to cover up with glass protection. A case would just hide the looks so it feels pointless with a pretty back if used with one. Glass looks nice but is quite slippery and overly fragile.

The Honor 8 is the closest thing so far for me. Just a regular flat glass back but with really nice reflections, just a little extra thing. I switch out the protector when needed and I know how to switch the back if it does crack so it isn't a huge issue for me.

Some kind of clip-on metal back would be the best + some details to differentiate it from other phones.
