For a top-tier tracker like BTN or PTP, yes. For a mid-tier tracker like AB it's not good. See Waffles for an example of what happens. I just hope we get a newer, better replacement.

Being best-in-class doesn't make a tracker top-tier. That's like saying GGn is top-tier. Plus, AB's content selection isn't that much better than Nyaa, it's just far better organized and seeded.

Of the anime trackers, AB is best, but compared to everything else it's basically the TehC of anime. And do you think TehC would benefit from being closed to new users?

I disagree so much with you on this one. The content might technically exist on Nyaa, but that doesn't mean it's being seeded at all. RAWs are rarely seeded on Nyaa at all.

While I'm not really all that informed on other trackers. In the end I believe being closed benefits AB. At least until they remove all the redundant torrents. Literally see no benefit to them increasing the number unless this sudden influx of new users all starts downloading extremely old shows or remuxing raws then uploading them. But I don't see that happening.
