My city (one of the largest in the world) is finally going to get rid of bus conductors.
Unlike in some countries like Russia, where they are like inspectors who actually get to move around asking for tickets and going from bus to bus, every single bus here has a conductor with a seat next to the turnstile. Only 6% of the people still pay with money instead of cards, so they are pretty useless and are often seen sleeping or just enjoying their useless tours around the city with an unfriendly bored face.
Instead of rejoicing the victory of technology and cuts of expenses with new useless conductors (the current ones aren't even going to be fired, but instead going to get some training to do something productive), lots of people are actually complaining against this measure and coming up without a lot of arguments against it, without knowing that other huge cities like Tokyo and New York are pretty fine with just drivers.

ive seen it a few times, but ive also seen thug types that do it, and the trocadores just say shyly that they are on priority seats, to no avail.
non-thugs are usually told by the nearest passanger or even elderly themselves to please vacate the seat, and promptly do so.

We don't do this anywhere in our country, it's just a huge waste of money.

My city has a taxi cab mafia that are currently assaulting uber drivers and destroying their cars. The only way to get a taxi is to book by phone where they almost always tell you that you have to wait at least 30 minutes or to go somewhere in the street and hail one.
They are losing more support each time they do this but they are stupid.
