God, I'm so overwhelmed. I'm juggling ten low tier tier trackers, wprried about accounts pruning and trying to build buffer on them on an americlap home connection and I have zero storage available. I'm out of SATA ports and I've filled my usb ports with more hubs, pretty sure my motherboard can't handle controlling anymore. All 4tbs, all filled to the brim with shit I'm literally never going to get to. My torrent client is fragile, even the tiniest of tweaks will cause it to hang and inevitably force a shutdown and recheck of all my torrents on reboot. And with the introduction of palooza, I now have even more autism to suppress.

As for the second question... something that gets thrown around a lot is security through obscurity. Basically you're vulnerable if you've downloaded something, the amount you've downloaded is less relevant than what, where and how. The obscurity comes from the idea that although feds know about private trackers, they'll probably care about sources and public trackers a lot more because the vast majority of piracy occurs there, the vast majority of people do not use vpn or a seedbox, and finally it depends on the content, by and large you're more likely to be caught downloading the revenant, game of thrones, or some other hip new multi-million dollar media franchise than you are to get caught downloading chink toons or obscure indie projects that cannot afford copyright hounds.

You're not exactly public enemy number one, categorically there are a lot more pressing issues online than media piracy. Generally trackers get taken down they go after admin, staffers, and sources. Top uploaders usually only get hefty fines and a few years. If you're just a ratio drone, odds are 1:10,000 or less that you will be prosecuted.
There's a lot more details that we could talk about, but that's the most basic explanation that doesn't go into site management or anything technical.
