So i bought these prescription glasses from aliexpress and they literally look like dogshit in real life.

i can't ask for a full refund because how am i going to send back my -1.25 and -1.50 glasses with frames. i would only get money back for frames.

should i just stomp on them and tell seller they arrived broken? then i would get full refund.
>>
>>59671431
if they weren't tracked to your house, just say they never arrived
>>
>>59671428
Yep. But instead of their software I'm using an open source alternative that does the job just fine.
In my opinion I'm not even crossing any ethical borders here since the hardware is basically just a single chip. Anyone could make that. Of course they shouldn't slap the Saleae logo on there cause that's obvious trademark infringement, but I don't care about that.

No idea. I studied EE and CS so I can kinda find my way around this stuff by googling the right things. Don't know where a beginner might want to start. Maybe look around the arduino forums. Instructables.com seems to have tutorials for some neat projects as well.
And pick up a book on electronics. Maybe programming (C++) as well.

just to clarify, things that matter:
>fitment of your shirt, pants, jacket
>quality and condition of your shoes
>how fashionable you are to some degree
>correct and appropriate level(s) of formality
>your level of physical fitness
>overall look wrt objective aesthetics

things that no cognitively normal adult cares about:
>how you choose to arrange wires on some earbuds
>anything related to your earbuds
>your "stacks", your avant garde bullshit, your fashion streetwear, ...

then again I don't know many adults who actually use earbuds in public

well, if you had a good experience then that is great, although there's a lot of risk involved here. If you do it locally they will generally reglaze/replace them free of charge, whereas if the friendly Chinese fellows screw something up (extremely common, even with companies that have proper websites and a US presence) you're mostly SOL in many cases

what'd you pay in total? got any pics?

Got whitelabel WD4000FYYZ last year for ~$100. You can find this model easily on AliExpress, it's 4TB WD Re (the enterprise series, but not HGST yet), though they got a little more expensive now and go for ~$170 or you can add some more and get newer WD4002FYYZ for ~$200 with twice as big cache (128MB instead of 64MB). It have been working without problems since I got it, though I can't check it now, since I moved temporarily and left the desktop at my family home.

seems nice desu, I wish I could find some proper clones of the frames I want, but they don't seem to exist. They're only $60 on eBay but adding frames is relatively expensive, would rather try some clones. Ali even has some items posted with the same general design and even the same name, at least one of which has the designer branding (fakes), but the dimensions are still off and they look slightly different... very strange that they can't just clone them

they're all off by some mm though

have you ever tried Zennioptical? They're similar to the alibaba companies but really streamline the process and have decent support
>>
/csg/ - Chinked Sight General
>>
>>59672471
I haven't, no. These were my first pair that I didn't buy locally, so I was kind of sceptical but I figured for $40 I might as well try. The seller was communicative and everything, which is also part of why I'm so impressed with these. That kind of thing for $40 is unheard of here, but maybe in America it's different?
>>
>>59672552
zennioptical is very popular with Americans on Reddit, I don't know if they do business in Europe or not. ~40 for a decent pair like yours is common, down to about $10 for the really cheap models, $15-20 with coatings. Mainly I want this specific design but I suppose for the price I would do better to gamble like you did...

However the shipping cost has gone bananas, I guess it's because of the new Lipo restrictions, depends on where you want it shipped to though, there is shipping for 8$ available to some countries, but for Germany only FedEx or DHL remains at 40-50€ shipping cost. No way I'm gonna pay that.

So it probably was determined its a race who gets into plebs habit patterns first for a shopping app.

-dogee case: disputed, got it later
-usb 3.0 enclosure: micro usb 3.0 is ugly AF, case just werked, but if hdd changed a lot, sata connector eventually break, and it did indeed.
-usb3.0 stick: this wasn't for me, didn't test it for h2testw. i suppose it was the real capacity but slow AF.
-tripod: werks but PATA to get the legs straight, also they either get too easily movable or they can't be moved.
-phone mount: worked, but the spring holding the phone fell out after a month or se fucking up the whole thing.
-lens: macro werks great (youll have to stick a metal ring to the phones camera), wide angle lens have shitty black border.
-tought this case was any good for this price, but the borders were silver color plastic, not metal. crappy looking and thicker than the original.

the battery holder kinda works, you'll have to push it to one end or put aluminium foil to one end because otherwise it won't make a connection. also it's hard to get out.

the charger charges well, shows status (charging or not)

this pink ugly case is thin as fuck but someone asked me to order it

button cell batteries work, but I have a feeling that they have lower capacity than quality cells. if you want something to last, don't buy these.

the lcd thermometer is off by somewhere between -5 to +20 degrees centigrade. in the refrigerator the lcd screen is a bit messed up (what a surprise), on the sun it can show +40 °C when it's actually around 20. this can partially be solved by placing the probe in a cup of water, but the downside to that is it will react much more slowly to temp changes.

the phone battery just werks, pretty well compared to the original which almost caught fire.

Yeah, it half has me worried, and half has me hopeful.

Supposedly the X30 is supposed to come in at about 160,000 on Antutu (820 is about 130,000 for reference) - which should be sweet, but on the other hand, I can't remember a single mediatek phone that has had its API made available - but given the power of the new Chipset and the way that Mediatek is pushing to be a big boy chip maker, who knows.

At least it's stock Android.

New ones are honestly great, so long as you don't intend to flash roms.
Got my mum a Note 4 with the X20 (or is it the X25?), and no complaints, her battery lasts her near on three days - shit is a lot smoother and more efficient than the early days.

Speaking of dodgy chink chip manufacturers, whatever happened to Rockchip? They were in literally EVERYTHING out of china, until they suddenly weren't.

with the weight, you may be better off just buying something from a US retailer because of shipping.

If you're not a crazy person that wants to rattle door panels, I'd recommend the Rockford Fosgate PUNCH powered sub+enclosure. I bought a 12" on amazon on sale for $130 years ago and it really does sound great paired up with some cheap mids and tweeters just running off a head unit. For like $250 my audio in my japanese 4x4 van sounds better than my dad's mercedes, the mids+tweeters being seperated really makes a huge difference, I don't suggest coaxial speakers.

i won't defend audiophille bullshit like 24/192 or $1000 cables, but if you have decent headphones the quality of the onboard amplifier on a DAP will make a big difference. on more expensive DAPS you also get things like USB DAC mode & 2 micro sd card slots which are really handy. it's nice to be able to walk around with a 400GB music library, or use the players DAC & amp as an external soundcard

you probably wouldn't notice much difference if you're listening through some zircons, but if you're using high impedance headphones like my zens or HD650s or sensitive IEMs a good amp is important

i listen to about ~8 hours music just while i'm at my shitty desk job, having a decent audio set up i can take to work makes the day much more bearable

mine were a lot more than that so i can't really say what £100 chinese iems sound like

but multi driver & hyrbid iems are def worth a look

thinking of getting a new pair off taobao. lots of the same multi driver headphones are sold for 75%-50% of the ali price

Well, to be fair I did reassemble it and put it back together; that was just a photo of testing it out without having to put it back in its bulb housing. But the photo of it working completely reassembled is a little less entertaining than the other shot

anyone know of $20 or less balisong (butterfly knife) trainers that are decent quality, preferably w/ spring latch

pic related, I had a Bear & Son a long time ago and the latch would always get in the way and too hard to bother removing it

butterfly knife and otf autos are 2 things chinks can't really make good yet. Their titanium frame-locks are top tier and a 60$ knife can shame a 150+ one but balisong nope. Don't bullshit yourself and better get a second hand 42 or something. On DH gate there is BM 42 clone that people recommend, have not seen it in person, looks better than the 12$ piece of shit I got, spoilers it was loose and rattles out of the box (give it to friend that don't know better).

>>
>>59673496
If you're buying multiple units of batteries (like say 4+1) they have to be ordered separately. Remove it until you only have one item in your cart and try again.
>>
>>59679298
If you live in a country Xiaomi physical stores live and buy one there you'll have warranty. In Europe Ibuygou offers fairly good warrant - at a major cost. If you want a phone with a camera just buy a Redmi note 4X and tape a Sony RX100 to it.
>>
>>59679376
I'm not 100% sure but I think it is just the package being taken from the sorting center to wherever it leaves the country from.

Received my wallet yesterday that's been talked about here

http://www.gearbest.com/men-s-wallets/pp_488794.html

This is probably my best purchase to date, I love the wallet. I think for $5 it's great and I love using it. The quality of materials don't feel that cheap. There was one anon here who said realistically it can only hold about 3 cards but I think that's not true because it will stretch over time. Currently I'm holding about 6 cards, my gym pass thats 1/4 the size of a credit card, and two $20 bills.

Unrelated and not really chink shit but I also received a refurbed Pebble watch for $18 on slickdeals. For anyone who cares to know, it works well otherwise but I was an idiot and pressed buttons while submerged in water and didn't know you aren't supposed to do that...so my backlight is dead and one of the buttons is now not that responsive.

what are some similar things that any tech person that wants to learn should buy from aliexpress?

since this is /g/, why don't we have a list of tech stuff that we should buy?

I'll start:
. zsun wifi card reader
- you can install openwrt on it, play with its MIPS CPU, the SD card reader and stuff
. orange pi zero (as an example, you can make and run a Go program on this thing. you need to patch the Go compiler (not difficult), or wait for Go 1.9 to be released, though)
- for $10, you get a 4-core ARM SoC, 512MB ($7 the 256MB version) single board computer.. includes wifi
. arduino clones?
. esp8266 (desu, I don't know what's this for...)
I'd also add
. an infrared thermometer, useful for experiments...
what else could we add? for learning, experimenting, hacking, just for fun, ...
>>
>>59671326
That's how I've been wearing them since I bought them. Weren't they designed to be worn like that?

Semen and sweat can both lead to yellow stains.
It won't hurt you if you clean it regularly, but you should probably get a new one anyway. Those things are considered disposable.

I may have grown marijuana in high school.
This looks like a legit plant. I can tell it isn't mint because it doesn't have a square stem. I can tell it's marijuana because of the itty-bitty seed-leaf at the base of the plant.
