I've been getting those through google ads, even on reliable sites (android police, public transit site, I think I might have even gotten them on google pages) - I use clover so don't get them on 4chan but I still get them everywhere else (even in webviews), and I get them even with adblockers enabled.

You might have actual malware on your phone if they're even getting through adblockers. What sites are you getting them on?
tfw I only get them on 4chins

It's been a little while since I last got one but I found one from July in my history - it looks like it was from http://www.androidpolice.com/2016/05/30/google-maps-v9-26-1-adds-search-along-route-walking-bicycling-changes-driving-mode-fabs-adds-new-settings-apk-teardown-download/

I also don't have any sort of sketchy stuff on it that I could get malware from - on Android you need to download an apk to get any, I think. Clover is the only thing I didn't get through google play, and all of the ones I have from there have 1,000,000+ users and are from big companies (dropbox, pushbullet, firefox, etc.) so those should be safe.
Why aren't you using uBlock Origin on your phone?

I just visited androidpolice.com on my s4 mini with adaway active and lightning browser with ad block disabled, no popups or anything.

Oops means to say "block ads enabled" ..
Root and adaway

Get an iPhone. iOS has adblockers.
>>59638202
Use DNS66, it actually works
>>59639613
It's normally fine, it just happened once, and I wasn't using any sort of adblocking when that one happened.
>>59639710
That acts like a VPN - will it mess with the actual VPN I also use?
Holy shit OP, you better click Repair Fast Now, these viruses might break your phone

Yes.
Buy an iPhone 7 Plus. It's not like you need that headphone jack.
