What's with the sennheiser veil meme? I've used basically ever legit brand of headphone (sennheiser, audio technica, beyerdynamic, etymotic, AKG) and, ignoring the cheapo budget crap, sennheisers have the best sound out of any of them
>>
Finally a /hpg/ that doesn't suck
Thanks for the non-anime op!
>>
>>59620535
Maybe there can be two HPGs, one for NEET anime autists who listen to anime music and shitpost, and one for normies with jobs
>>
>>59620417
Any specific headphones?
>>
>>59620417
Some Sennheisers are kinda veiled desu. Namely 650's. All similarly tiered Beyer/AKG are bright. AT headphones tend to be just wacky though often have peaky treble. Dunno about Etys.

600 aren't really veiled, though the treble is slightly recessed.

>>59620269
Just got my tma 2 with their most accurate and detailed configuration speakers 4 pads 6 but they are muddy as fug

The paper in the box did say allow for 24 hours of burn in with medium/low sound
>>
>>59622190
You've just made them bassy as fuck, anon. Just take a look at their frequency response.
>>

Any rec for Made in Japan or Germany headphones?
Budget is ~1000 Eur.

Yes, I'm racist that way.
>>
>>59622309
SO1 speakers paired with EO3 ear pads seem to be the most neutral. Never tried any of their headphones though.
>>

WTF I have to spend $70 for a new driver

Could have got some fancy shit with this money
>>
>>59622354
German Maestro GMP400 or your pics and especially the first gen ones.

There is no decent Japanese headphones outside of Stax electrostatics, but they of course, even cheapest models have mid and high to die for.
>>
>>59622420
Can't you return them?
>>
>>59622468
No they turned out to have a retarded return policy, only new in box

Why do the more retarded bass versions cost more while the neutral is the lowest config???

I thought I could get something better than m40x I see spammed here with these
>>
>>>59622497

Is it possible to have a system wide bass reduction?

If possible would this perhaps produce undesirable results to try and kill bass?

And yes I did notice the bass on their charts but I didn't think it could hurt this much just going from my only real cans the PC 373 they sound like absolute shite

Wav.png
16KB, 184x226px
When you're listening to wavs, the bit rate is higher. I know flac is lossless but if there are less bits, I don't see how it could actually be lossless. Less bits means less bits.
But is wav total placebo? Does anybody even use wavs for music?
>>
>>59622901
>First, FLAC is probably the only lossless compressor that has a published and comprehensive test suite. With the others you rely on the author's personal testing or the longevity of the program. But with FLAC you can download the whole test suite and run it on any version you like, or alter it to test your own data. The test suite checks every function in the API, as well as running many thousands of streams through an encode-decode-verify process, to test every nook and cranny of the system. Even on a fast machine the full test suite takes hours. The full test suite must pass on several platforms before a release is made.

>Second, you can always use the -V option with flac (also supported by most GUI frontends) to verify while encoding. With this option, a decoder is run in parallel to the encoder and its output is compared against the original input. If a difference is found flac will stop with an error.
>>
>>59622901
Wav files are fucking huge, even compared to Flac
>>
>>59623094
Yeah, I'm just getting into hifi music and I've been getting odds and ends off of bandcamp (most in 44.1/16) and it's already building up. Recently went to flac though after a blank banshee album almost took up a gb in wav.

>>59623062
Didn't know that. I guess I should pro ably suck it up and just go to flacs. They format better anyway, wavs have really bad album/track/artist formatting.
>>
>>59622880
Le fucking kill me then

$300 can get you some really nice mobile shit like HD 800 mobile
>>
>>59623176

>>

>>
>>59623518
I've never tried those, so I can't comment on their sound. Might want to do more research for better options out there too.

Here's a decent place for more detail on the headphones.

>>
>>59623761
I only have really tried open-backed headphones, so again, I can't really be of any help. If you want, there's another headphone general >>59620300. There's more people there; just stay wary of the shitposters. Just fill out the form, and you should be fine.

Sennheiser also makes comfy noise-cancelling headphones that aren't featured on that site, so maybe take a look there too.
>>
is headphone burn in real?
>>
>>59623914
Nope. Your ears adjusting to your headphone is, though.
>>
>>59623888
I rarely got a response actually filling the form, infact I filled out two entire forms and got fucking nothing, probably because I was discussing whether to get a qc 35 or a mdr 1000x etc. And all of that is "frowned upon"

Not sure about senns because they block out higher frequency to make sound more "comfy" and the Bose appear to actually allow for more sound to come
>>
>>59622777

that was so satisfying to watch, do you know any other videos like this?
>>
>>59623977
From what I know, Bose makes damn good noise cancelling headphones. They're just a bit overpriced when it comes to sound quality. They are general flat headphones until you get up into the higher frequencies. If you want a good noise cancelling headphone, then get Bose.

Guys, I realize I might be asking for something stupid but is there an automated way of transfering the correction curve to use in EQAPO or will I have to do it by hand? I don't know if this really makes sound "neutral" like they advertise but it sure as hell gives them a really meaty bass.

Yes. Some audio products will indeed change sound quite noticeably, but most change very little if at all.

>>59623938
this anon (and most other posters in these threads) don't seem understand the procedure - so I'll explain the concept:

Play brand-new audio product and give a short listen. Note its sound characteristics. Then, without listening, simply allow it to play (burn in) for some number of hours/days. After burn-in, listen again. Note change (if any) of sound characteristics. Last step, enjoy audio.

They're pretty hard to beat for that price - as long as you can deal with open back phones that have almost zero isolation.
>>
>>59630116
Do you know if an AMP + DAC would help? I'm using on-board audio (ALC1150) right now.
>>
>>59630176

SHP's are easy to drive, so you likely won't need one unless your on board crackles or something.

Thoughts on this video?
>>
>>59623159
Loosless compression, anon.

When you "zip" a file and then extract the contents, do you think you lost something in the process?

>>59623094
>compared to FLAC
Depends on the audio in question and the settings used to encode FLAC. FLAC can achieve over 50% file size reduction or it might be only 10% even with highest level of compression.

>>59623914
No if you are referring to audible structural changes in the driver because it's being used. It would basically be faulty if it did.

>>59626839
No. That correction is easy enough to do anyway. Don't touch the range above 3 KHz without listening to test tones such as sine sweeps.

>>59630023
What was the point of the procedure?
>>
>>59633664
Confirmation bias and baseless assumptions; overall a waste of time for all viewers. Merely an attempt to make money off of the viewer via referral links to the products they're shilling.

Don't post shit like that here, or anywhere for that matter.

lolno. M40x/M50x stock pads are absolutely horrible. Theyre fine for the first like 20 minutes, but after that they get really warm. Shitty small pleather pads do that quite easily. If you've never used more comfy headphones, you might find them alright, but even some similarly tier shit like MDR7506/V6 are way more comfy. DT250's are also way more comfy, though they're velour so kinda a different story.

The pads also disintegrate real quickly, but so do a lot of other cheap pleather pads so I can't get too ass-mad about that. Pads are ultimately a good with a limited usable lifetime.

Midbass hump I guess, more so with HD650 that also have a rolled off highs. But HD600 are the most enjoyable out of german trio, you get addicted to them, it's a best midrange headphone out of them altho loses in soundstage and has a rolled off bass but the one that sound the most natural. HD600 just sound natural and right, everything else sounds forced in a way for good or for worse.

Is this a bait post or something? One advise, if you can go to the nearest headphone store and just try shit out. You can narrow your choices to lets say 3 headphones but you got to try them out ESPECIALLY if you don't have much experience in it. All those reviews online or people's advises are as good as your knowledge goes for the sake of comparison comparison. I've literally spend 2 hours in a headphone store rocking between HD600 and DT880 but it was so worth it. Now I start to understand my sound preferences and I can finally start making a sense of what other people say and commend on headphones.

Lots of bass + sub bass, no painful highs.

>No anime shitposting
Is this /hpg/, dare I say, the best /hpg/?
>>
>>59643101
Just a different OP, my guy. There's already a new thread from anime OP.
>>
>>59643187
Thread goes much faster there too; too bad there's a shit-ton of noise and shitposting over there. HD 600s was just recommended to an anon asking for closed-back mobile headphones.
>>
>>59643227
That shit's funny. They can give some decent advice but it's also a lot of nonsense.
>>
>>59643227
The insufferable sennheiser worship is the worst thing about /hpg/
>>
>>59643227
>>59643289
Speaking of nonsense, how would I setup a Magni2 to my PC's soundcard? I'm using a FiiO K1 at the moment and a Creative Sound Audigy 5.1 internal card.
>>
>>59643346
If it has RCA output, just connect them with RCA cables. Otherwise get a 3.5mm to RCA cable.
>>
>>59643391
Will RCA to 3.5mm change the sound output or keep it stereo?
>>
>>59643499
Nope, it'll be the same. As long as your 3.5mm out has proper line-out functionality, should be no different.
>>
>>59643513
Alright, thanks
>>
>>59641752
Can IEMs really be worth 1k? They look like pure sex but I'm not sure even 400 is worth for pods.
>>
>>59641752
It's shit and it's uncomfortable.

>>59644124
>Can IEMs really be worth 1k?
Anything can be worth 1k.
>>
Any reason to not buy HD 600?

I like my headphones like I like my people:
Not colored.
>>
>>59645364
so you don't like any headphones then
>>
>>59645623
>muh "non-colored headphones don't exist" meme
I bet you like beyers

this is a fake /hpg/. quit calling it that. name it something else.

>>59645672
i bet you think truly neutral headphones exist :)

>50 dollars with free shipping on amazon right now
>just paid 70 dollars

gud deel comrade
>>
>>59645758
With a parametric EQ and enough gain headroom, they do.
>>
>>59645701
This is the better /hpg/, anon.
>>
>>59633786
>What was the point of the procedure?

If you want an informed idea of what the audio product "truly" sounds like, this will prevent you from making premature judgements.

You might as well just play your cel phone speaker. It will sound just as annoying to your co-workers

Anyone know a good 4k receiver to get sound quality wise? I have a nice Denon 7.1 from about 6 or so years ago, but it was early ARC and hmdi-CEC so it has some issues, plus it can't support any of HDR or 4k standard stuff. I'd like to get something with equivalent or better sound quality and hopefully not spend a completely fortune.

There is a poineer on sale on amazon right now for around 370, but I'm not sure how it will compare to the denon.

my new padear pro earphones beat my whole collection of IEMs up to my SE215-CLs... they're $10

>andromeda
Sort of bassy. Lacks some 2-6 kHz emphasis as well. It picks further around the 7-10kHz range, some of which will come down to eartip choice. Gets kinda peaky there.
Very low DC resistance that significantly picks up with frequency as with most balanced armatures. With anything other than very low impedance outputs, you can expect some amount of sloping boost with higher frequency. It offsets the upper-mid/low treble dip and bass boost, but can make the higher frequency spikiness worse.

>jupiter
Also bassy. If I remember right: if Andromeda may be somewhat recessed around 2-4kHz, Jupiter is really recessed there.

For me it's the SHP9500, the best poorfag headphone that have been consistently a pleasure to wear.
>>
I have a question that's pretty out there but I hope someone can answer.

I recently broke a pair of headphones and I decided to try and fix them myself however I broke several lines and cords and I have no idea how to figure out which of them go where? Anyone have anyway to find this out?
It's a
Xiaomi Hybrid
and uses a 3.5mm 4 pin jack.

Any help would be appreciated since I am a poor fag and can't afford much right now.
>>
>>59645963
if you have to EQ it then there's something wrong with the headphone
>>
>>59645188
Well you could buy the HD 650 instead. It was a tough decision between the two for me, but I love my 650.
>>
>>59644124
Look for trusted reviews, I've never heard anything bad about them. Worth 1k is relative to income.
>>
>>59645950
I am a Aussie...
They usually go for 150 here without shipping.
>>
>>59620269
Why do people here say no to everything? Why are you all so shitty and arrogant?
>>
>>59640130
I think they're ok for $40 headphones like when they go on sale.
Not really worth it otherwise desu, too muddy.
>>
>>59649174
no

Why are headphones so unbelievably expensive on the UK Amazon website? Is there an alternative set to the UK which isn't extortionate or should I import?
