Some cheap phones are fine. The Acer T06 I bought as a cheap throwaway to tie me over after my LG G4 started bootlooping (at least until Snapdragon 835 stuff starts to hit the market) is an example of this.

Bezels are no more thicc than on the Pixel, body is no thicker than my old HTC One S yet has a removable backplate, call quality is acceptable, runs Android 6.0 (but hasn't received updates since June 2016 security patch), camera is reasonable, MediaShit processor is reasonably zippy, has SD card support, the 720p screen has better colour reproduction than my $1,300 Thinkpad X250, battery is 2000 mAh but lasts all day. Only real issue is the speaker is quiet and it only supports 3G, but for $100 Canadabux unlocked I am astounded at how good it is.

Encryption fails on my sony z1 compact with root.

The situation for GSM carriers in the US isn't really much better. For one thing each carrier has their own non-standard implementation of voLTE, so not just any GSM phone will work unless you don't mind being without voice and SMS at times. T-Mobile is like this since majority of their Low band spectrum is band 12 LTE, when in one of these areas you'll be without voice and SMS coverage unless you went out of your way to buy a GSM phone that went through the certification process to have voLTE. AT&T is even worse since they refuse to certify any unlocked phones that aren't made by Apple and the only Androids that have voLTE are the AT&T branded S7 and (I think) LG G5. Of course AT&T branded phones are the worst of all branded phoned for bloatware, especially with the constant DirectTV pop-ups. Further more the GSM carriers both have shit overall coverage compared to Verizon. I've tried both AT&T and T-Mobile but always wound up going back to Verizon. Cost difference was minimal since I only do prepaid service with unlocked or used branded phones.

I'm on T-Mobile USA and I currently have the Samsung Galaxy S7. I don't like it. The display sucks, even though everyone praises it. I hate AMOLED displays and prefer an LCD one. Also the battery isn't that good.

I'm debating whether or not I should by the Moto G5 Plus to use for a few months until I have a chance to buy a higher end phone like the upcoming NOKIA devices or the OnePlus 4.

Some guy from my city is selling Samsung Galaxy S4 for 50€ and says it has no problems or anything, just little bit wear in edges and back.

I'm a big poorfag who wants to switch to smartphone era as my current phone is old ass Nokia 5220 from decade ago. Which is why I'm looking for used phones, I could go as high as 150€ with the price but I'd rather prefer not.
I'm looking into a phone with a very good GPS and general use regarding programs and internet (and hopefully good battery life). Games and cameras don't really interest me, I'd prefer not to have front camera at all but I guess they don't make those. How noticeable is the increase in audio quality with the v20's DAC?

The only Android devices I've had either couldn't be rooted(CAT S60) or needed to be wiped everytime you wanted to update if they were rooted. Is there a phone that you can root that doesn't wipe your shit if you want to update?

I have the iphone 6 but i really like the iphone 7's water resistance.

The last lineage os update on my redmi note 3 pro made the apps, esp. chrome reload often. I use zram, since i have the 2gb model, but I used to rarely see chrome reload when multi tasking.

Decided since I've been on android for 9 years now and needed a change as I was switching to a friends family unlimited Verizon plan for super cheap and couldn't bring my own phone. I only ever use my phone anymore for web browsing, porn, and podcast streaming so I thought it wasn't too bad of a change. Got the 128gb model

Pros Ive had with it so far compared to my multiple android devices:
-No matter how smooth android was, iOS is still somehow a million times smoother in any situation. Im actually quite surprised
-Coming from a single speaker phone (oneplus 3), stereo is p. cool and loud as fuck
-Consistently faster wifi speeds and range than any of my other phones in the past
-App installs are also faster
-Battery life is way better, I was thinking it was just my oneplus 3 that had shit battery life until my friend showed me his moto droid z which lasts like 3 hours new
Meh:
-Camera, dont really notice a difference even with the two cameras on the plus
-UI I find is kinda weird to me, same with gestures and what not. Still trying to get used to no back or recents button
-The force touch home button is like really, really weird. I find myself thinking it feels like Im clicking the entire bottom half of the iPhone down which freaks me out thinking I broke the phone
-Bezel size is a little annoying, not a con in any way but something to point out
Cons:
-No headphone jack. There is no way to defend this. Its really shitty, and I barely used the jack on any other of my phones
-Lightning cable I feel is wonky compared to usb type c. Feels more fragile than it needs to be
-Apples walled garden. This is actually teetering between 'meh' and a 'con'. Ive used iTunes to buy all of my music anyway so its all there now but I cant just download anything anymore
