Well maybe that's an overkill. Just go a bit cheaper m8.

I've got R9 380 and FX 6300 and not once have I thought of needing a better PC for games. But then again, I only play Overwatch, CS:GO and Rust with my mates. I did want more RAM because of Rust (have 8GB currently), but that's more because of other hobbies and me not wanting to shut programs down.

Other things though, such as development, using Krita and using my PC as guitar amp sure could use a better PC.

I'm the same way but I ONLY do it with my computer. The more computational power you wield the closer you are to god who is the perfect machine, able to compute all possible outcomes for all possible time lines on any given scale. Also, yeah, assembling, overclocking, rebuilding to optimize cooling, waiting for and getting the parts is generally more fun than games.
I'm happy with my hardware right now but I'll still buy small things every week or two like a power supply extension cable, rgb's, fans, whatever. Keep something to look forward to.
$2000 is too much, scale it back. Get the absolute best price to performance for the game you want to play. I play blizzard shit so that's nvidia, if I played AAA it would be AMD. A ryzen, rx 480, good ram, reasonable storage, budget case will last you a long ass time. Upgrade it if you want but don't sink 2k off the bat, most parts maintain their value for at least a year.
Pic related is a $320 gpu in a $500 system.

The point is achievements. You can get those in games, but you can also get them IRL, you'd be surprised.

>can get money to buy shit
The point is getting steadily more and more money. But after a certain point you get the last achievement and it doesn't matter how much more you rack in. You need other chieves.

It doesn't matter what it is. It's >>>/ic/ for me. Find something where you can see steady improvement. And when it feels like nothing has a point, get some ecstasy to fill that empty void. Then find more achievements.

>this is super silly
Doesn't sound silly at all actually, that sounds like something that people usually find satisfaction in. It's the little things. Might sound gay, but it really is.

Someone mentioned friends and family and that's a big part of it. I've been lonely, felt like I don't really want "friends" where as a matter of fact, I've built a wall around myself and haven't even experienced true friendship. Super gay, but it's true. There are faggots around that are just like you and having a close relationship with them is fulfilling. Doesn't matter how introverted or asocial you feel like, you need people in your life. Socializing is a basic human need. So that's another thing to look out for, OP.

Life has no meaning.
Some people find happiness in some kind of goals...
If you're lucky enough, you can think for yourself an unreachable goal. This way you can live happily.
Short term goals are just that.
When you reach it, it's gone and you're miserable again.

In the end:
- life is meaningless
- death even more

Only good reason to live is just look how world is changing.

>>
>>59583730
anything beyond $800 is getting high diminishing returns on the $ to processing power, also buying a "GAMAN RIG" without even having a plan what to play is pretty stupid in general, just buy a macbook and be gay somewhere else
>>
>>59583730
I feel like this every once in a while too, usually after a video game binge.

I used to play a lot of Runescape and, one night, a couple years back, I was wondering what to do in-game. But this night was different. I thought of the different options. But I just kept asking myself "And then what?" No matter what I thought about, it wasn't enough. Finally, I thought about cooking. And I stopped and thought, "Wait, I can do that in real life."

So I just turned off the computer and went to sleep. The next day, I looked for that image of "Outside, the most realistic game ever created". I started thinking about life the way I had thought about RS. No matter what I thought of doing, it was incredibly interesting, because it was real. I could gain real tangible skills, gain real wealth, effect real change, fuck real women, dress the way I liked and really like the way I dressed. Granted, real life is significantly more difficult than RS but the principles are the same: use economics, read guides, follow good advice, work with others. Idk, maybe that'll help you.
>>

>Meanwhile a high end PC with a big high res screen and a good sound system or decent headphones allow yourself to be immersed into games better. You are improving your experience.

It will have next to no effect on what you take away from the game, e.g. the lasting memory.
You shouldn't need a 30" 4k screen to be immersed in an atmospheric game in the first place.

>Watching a movie is more enjoyable on a 65" 4K HDR TV than on one that's just 32".

It's not. You'll get used to it quickly and won't even notice the difference.
Before people got conditioned to huge-ass screens by TV manufacturers, they were able to enjoy a good movie even on a tiny screen.

>Music sounds better with some decent headphones.

You can get decent headphones for $50, no need to shill out $200 for a meme amp and $300 for phones, you very likely won't be able to tell any difference.

How do I get started with reading philosophy?
>>
>>59586152
My younger years were a time of extreme autism for me. I've grown out of some of it, but I still can't make friends and frankly never saw the benefit in having them so I can't convince myself the social strain is worth it.

Regardless, even if I could have attracted a girl then, I wouldn't have known
>>
>>59586146
I think the reaction to Nietzsche depends on the temperament of the person. I do not think that there is a theoretical solution to this issue.

I find it a very liberating and empowering philosophy - although it is also a tragic one. But surely many people will either find it complete nonsense or rather depressing.
>>

>>59586152
Almost(!) impossible for a crapload of reasons, but I think number one is still that people think they could stay 'in love' forever if they just find the right partner.
That's just as impossible as staying on cocaine forever without gaining tolerance.

If people could just accept that this phase will pass eventually but that it's NOT a reason to split, there might be more long lasting relationships.
>>
>>59586185
Once you're completely cured, you won't see it as strain.

The objective benefit of having friends is unlocking new opportunities, and also having somebody to help you in tough times.
(Going through hardships is a part of the journey. If you never experience tough times, you'll never truly appreciate life)

The best part? You can do all of it. You've got what it takes, right there, in you. You just need to find it, so stop being comfortable and start searching today.

Philosophy "feels" more natural.
Questioning things, looking for answers.

While in psychology someone decides answer for you, based on better grounds, most likely, but not in a fun way.
>>
>>59586188
True, I was a edgy teenager when I read him first and drew my conclusions and insights accordingly.

When I started reading him ten years later he seemed like a different person to me.

It really reflects the person reading just as much as he himself evolved over the span of his life.

Have you read some of his late, unpublished work? There's enough material for three more books, at least.
>>
>>59586178
Unironically: start with the greeks.

Or actually, start with some sort of a book about the history of philosophy. Will Durant has a pretty decent and fun-to-read one. Introductory textbooks would probably also suffice. Avoid Russell tho, his history book is very biased and thus a better read for someone who isn't completely new.

Then read the Greeks, at least Plato and Aristotle if you're too lazy to get into other Greek literature. Then you can probably decide on what to read next based on the reading of the history book. You should go semi-chronologically, though, read Desctares and Hume before reading Kant, etc, but you can also jump around a bit.

You do need to know a lot of old philosophy, so learning philosophy can feel a bit boring at times. This is because more recent philosophers tend to build on the old theories, even when they completely destroy them - I mean, you can't understand a critique of Aristotles metaphysics if you don't understand Aristotles metaphysics.

The thing is your life as an individual will end by around 35. You'll have figured out what kind of person you are and you'll have become the near definitive version of yourself. If you're alone after that and still a "free spirit" you're either become depressed or a loser. You need to stick to your biological imperative and survive so your genetic line can live on and come out as alpha, or if not, accept the fact that you're a beta male who's genes weren't worthy enough to survive the next generations to come. It'll probably be a good thing since you probably are a beta male, so it's just cleaning the gene pool. An anon ITT said that people are programmed to be happy by fulfilling their biological imperative, that being finding a mate and procreating, and he's right. If you don't care for your genes then go ahead and live nihilistically, you will become statistically irrelevant to the species.

distraction from what?
being happy?

I'm in a relationship for 6 years now and getting married soon.

of course I agree that relationships "use up" a lot of your free time - and if you want to call that a "distraction" from whatever else you've going on - alright, do that

but I can also tell you that nothing else I do, playing video games, watching movies or even getting promoted compares to the joy of having someone to share my life with

if the goal of life is to be happy, a relationship isn't a "distraction" but the exact opposite

You half-answered your question. The point of life isn't to buy meaningless, material bullshit that most normies do to show off to each other. The point of life is to pass on your genes, ultimately, but also to have experiences. Psychological studies have shown that people who use their money to buy an experience (a holiday, an adventure etc.) are always happier in their later years than those that bought the latest gaymur monitor, or bigger gas guzzling car etc.

Yeah one thing I recently noticed about my friends being into building PCs was that it is really just consumerism. Computers are ultimately just tools, and we're blessed that we live in a time when you can get so much computer for so relatively little money. I'm still using an 11year old q6600 because it's good enough for what I do with it. Upgrading a tool should be done because there's a need, not a desire.

Liquidation is the process of putting humans in a blender to create food for other humans. Naturally the smartest people are eaten first because through ingesting them you can imbue some of their magical powers.

>I search it on Youtube to see how it looks like
>all those CAPS LOCK TITLES and adhd thumbnails with disgusting looking manchildren screaming on them

How fucking stupid are you to not try something just because of youtube videos? You do realize the only reason those thumbnails are like that are because it's to lure in children who don't know about adblock yet, right? The whole video; "personality" and visuals are meant to make them money.

>But this night was different. I thought of the different options. But I just kept asking myself "And then what?" No matter what I thought about, it wasn't enough. Finally, I thought about cooking. And I stopped and thought, "Wait, I can do that in real life."

That's EXACTLY what happened to me the day I quit gaming. I was playing GTA V when it first came out and I realized everything I loved doing in game I could do in real life. It was the little things too, shopping for clothes, going for a drive, trading stocks, it clicked in my head how absurd that I was doing shit I could already do in real life with more benefit.

To accept life is to accept ultimate defeat. The two main ways to live with it are belief in an afterlife and a higher power that gives meaning to existence. The classical way up till modernity.

The second way is to embrace Nietzscheism, proclaim the death of god and become a god yourself. Then you move beyond classical morality into a higher plane of existence where the meaning of life is life itself.

For most people the first path is the only real option. The second path is only for the strongest. The problem in modernity is that the second path has been imposed on a society that doesn't have the means to overcome the nihilistic stage.

Hence where we find ourselves in the present, in a state of meaninglessness and nihilistic decay. The salvation of modern western society is a return to classical sacred values.

And one way or another it will happen, the west will either return to christianity or be conquered by muslim ideology. One way or another the sacred will return because the self destructive nature of nihilism makes it inevitable.

our purpose as a species is to procreate so that our genes would pass on.
So our whole point in life or goal is to find a good partner and procreate.

Rethink everything man.

Work less or give your work a higher purpose.

Don't buy money on just shit, but learn a new thing and get the tools you need to succeed in it. Get something that involves working with your hands, Learn an instrument,Travel, Vacation, Volunteer, Create, Fix, learn, etc., there's just so much shit to do, you just have to make the effort to do it.

Rent a cabin innawoods, go hiking, take pictures, relax away from society if that's the drag.

If you used to love games but hate em now, take a break from them, or go to somewhere like itch.io, find some random indie game that doesn't seem like shit, play it.

Do some physical activity. Play a sport, join an adult league if you're up for it.

Find a gf that's a great friend - fuck that trophy wife shit. you want this person to be awesome - someone that will be excited at shit that you're not in a way that your hypes will complement each other.

Find you some good friends, some hype men. break from negative things\people. Cycle out your main friends if you can, (i.e, i've been more wanting to hang out with my work friends than some online friends because i just want to change it up, but i still keep in touch)

Find communities online and IRL where you can find friends. IRL places like churches, volunteer organizations are good.

Wait forever to buy something. If you still want it then rethink. i've made retarded impulse purchases and i refuse to upgrade till i'm ready. Have a rigorous justification for your purchases

I won't say that i use the full power of my $1k rig, i'll play old games, browse, low energy shit, but then i'll fuck around with rendering, i'll code, i'll edit video\pictures, i'll play some high end game. I won't upgrade for quite a few years.

I've had a recent rough bout of this thinking so i hope this helps, i gotta follow it too, i'm just starting to rediscover the joy in life and shit. Best of luck to you OP and to all you anons out here in the same boat!

Cheap xeons, man.
If you're not into gaming then single threading is pointless.
Cheap multithreaded compute is the way to go if you want to do some neat shit with your machines.

You ruin society with this line of thought

Enjoy when the niggers knock down your doors and windows, swarm the place, and rape you just to prove how alpha they are.

(They will swarm you so fast, no amount of firearms or alpha will save you from jamal/tryone/muhammad/etc buttraping you)
