Thanks, I post here every now and then.

I wish I had some man, I'm using Arturia's collection of synths on Ableton, mainly the Minimoog and Jupiter-8, along with other VSTs.

>All controllers, Do you not like synthesis? What is the reason for this please?
Money and space to put them lol. I definitely want to get some actual analog synths one day though.

>>

That's a killer set of speakers, dawg. It looks like you might be due for a keyboard upgrade, but it's cool that it matches the mouse.
>>
>>59581764
How do you feel about your Elite controller? I love mine, but it was far too expensive.
>>
>>59580759
I like the aesthetic of this station. Most of the white computer cases I see are pretty damn ugly, but that is super nice. Everything is nice and aligned, everything is nice and square with no weird tone changes or anything.

>>59581036
A little cluttered m8. A new desk might fix all that, but you probably should do something about having lots of extra stuff.

>>59581219
Super nice. Plants are an awesome touch to a really retro feel. The mini soundbar is really neat too.

>>59581687
Time for some cable management.

>>59581764
You've got a really nice space here. The desk matches the lamp and the walls, but your computer aesthetic needs some work. The LEDs match but they don't really match the aesthetic of the room; I would go with something more reserved. This would apply to your speakers and your monitor too. Some cable management would really clean things up too.

>>59582336
You really need to clean up. There's just a lot of stuff out and I can't imagine you use all of that. In an open space like that you can really maximize storage solutions to keep everything organized and extremely accessible. I imagine you maybe use about 20% of that stuff 80% of the time, and as soon as you determine what that 20% is you could have something really interesting going on in that space. A clean station is a happy station.
>>
>>59579857
>major pain in the ass m8, save yourself the grief.
Running a full vintage/analog studio is a challenge of it's own yeah. It's not even just analog though, anything with no hope of manufacturer support or easy replacement is difficult to keep up with.

Its a functional old mac. I havent touched it in a while because i need to replace the HDDs before they die. Its a really comfy machine, if a bit under powered for modern web browsing though.
>>
>>59584796
The Barbie monitor is placed onto another PC, used for hosting game servers and general data storage. The case is Spire PowerCube 715b.

I assume you meant the box on the left, in that case it's an old computer running on a Pentium 3 with 256MB of RAM. I have yet to figure out the other insides, since it does not turn on or has any markings on them.

The main tower case is Deepcool Dukase V3.

New poster reporting
I just moved to my room: I used to have my old PC in the livingroom because everybody in the family used it, but now that I built this one I can have it just for me.
I lived in this room since I was 3, so there is childhood shit on the wall that I can't remove (you can see the attempt).
Still not definitive, I'm planning where to put stuff, how to do cable management and making a network plan (you can see the gigabit switch in the trash can and the Cat5E on the spare nightstand).
Maybe I'll buy a new monitor, this one is not the best for design and photo editing, but it's not a priority.

The AK is a very fun weapon. It lacks some subtleties of the AR variety. I'm a big dude at 6'4 so the stock.. stock on an AK is too short for me. As well the grip was changed because it relieves hand fatigue when shooting all day.

Rounds for the AK off luckygunner in bulk is super cheap.

Otherwise - it was left stock.

---

The injuries came from the Army. Which is also why I am probably partial to AR type feel to my weapons.

i think its pretty funny to leave the PC out in the open. its hard to find a decent looking case, I usually would rather have nothing than something ugly or shitty. Im going to put the PC with the noctua heatsink in the ammobox under the thinkpad, need to drill holes and cut out a space for the ports. right now its in the motherboard box. the abomination that on the right I got from my friend, the previous tenants at his place left it behind, they built it into a fucking plastic drawer cabinet kek. I'm gonna try and fit it into that purple ramen box sitting next to it cause that thing's falling apart.

camera and trinitron are just for ambient visuals. once I setup NAS I'll have it hooked up to my x100e and have it play movies/anime constantly. do you do photography professionally?

I could never do that, I'd be too afraid of my fat foot bumping something off or shorting the motherboard.

Anyway that's interesting. Look forward to see what you come up with when you settle down.

>do you do photography professionally?
Yes and no. I'm setting up an Amazon storefront and I sell prints on Etsy but haven't sold anything yet. I'm not posting any of that here.

Going into IT was one of the best decisions of my life. It's stress-free and I can handily finance my Japan and film photography obsessions.

>>59596275
>What do you think I should do?
Well, most of the things I have are either garage sale finds or hand-me-downs from the family. If you live in the cities or suburbia, drive around some Saturday morning and see what you can find. Otherwise look at Etsy for handmade things and posters, and Amazon, etc for interesting gadgets.
>>
>>59596581
If your prints look anything like that image you posted I'd totally buy one, you sure you don't just wanna post a link or at least contact info?
>>
>>59596581
To be honest there aren't many garage sales, and Goodwills literally have nothing around here. I think I should make my own small things, and purchase some decorations online like you mentioned.

I have space for maybe like 2-3 small/medium sized posters. Need to see which. I just really wish I had more desk space! I would probably get a bunch of things.

Received and responded.
>>59597147
It's a somewhat lengthy process. After the film is exposed I mix the chemistry and process them in tanks over the kitchen sink. Then I make contact sheets and mark off pictures for printing.
Paper also acts as a negative, and the film negative is projected onto the paper from the enlarger to make a positive print. To make a print, you first make several consecutive test strips with a range of exposures on a small strip of paper to gauge the correct exposure and contrast filtration. Then you make several work prints perfecting exposure and doing any needed burning and dodging until you get a print which is of suitable quality for display/sale. Then you put it through a water wash and let it dry on a rack. The whole shebang takes a few hours at least.

This is a very brief explanation, I'm sure you can find Youtube videos with some more of the details if you're interested. In fact it probably wouldn't hurt for me to do YT tutorial videos.

Taking the actual picture is the easy part. Photography has a workflow which actually gets slower as it goes along. I've worked from 8-9 to dawn on certain evenings just to make a handful of prints.

Sorry for the wall of text in a battlestation thread.
>>
>>59597427

Thanks mate.
I've meddled with colour, but it's HARD. Analogue colour printing involves filtration to adjust colour balance, but even very slight adjustment to filtration changes the exposure and density of a print. Conversely when you change a print's exposure, the colour balance changes. So it's essentially a catch-22 of continually making test strips to get just the right print density and colour balance. Also unless you send your film to a lab (which are expensive hardly even exist anymore, especially for 120), home film developing in colour (C41) is much more involved. The temperature of the chemistry has to be exactly 101 degrees Fahrenheit at all times, and some of the chemicals themselves are quite hazardous.

I have almost no training at all in the digital process, which is a totally different beast from film. It's also more expensive for good paper, and inkjet printing is even SLOWER than darkroom if you can believe that.

Then comes the issue of integrating colour into the photographs themselves in a way that's meaningful. A deep knowledge of how to LOOK at colour, how it creates and interacts with form, shape, contrast, mood, etc. is something you have to apply on top of the normal photographic process. It's overwhelming for my eye. If I find a good project for which colour is an essential ingredient, I'll do it begrudgingly. But I hope I never have to.

always liked this room, got some style to it, only thing wrong is that sideways amp, a sideways amp only looks cool in a fucked room.

nixie tubes are a bit retarded in a room like this as well, but I still want one.
>>
>>59605808
Norstone esse hifi. Finally getting rid of the sideways tilted amp position, might be unrelated or not but the amp has been acting up alot lately dropping one channel periodically so it will be nice to have it properly oriented.

I am thinking of making myself a TNT flexy rack out of slabs of black walnut myself.

That way it matches my desk, but it turns out that all thread rods are fairly expensive if you want higher quality than the homedepot shit.
>>
>>59606083
Thought of the diy route as well, had old tablelegs for it and all turns out the oak shelves i wanted cost more than the rack i ordered now so i figured i spare myself some headache and tossed the tablelegs.

Well, besides the w key constantly double tapping, I just want something new. I want a KB with brown switches, and the caps I have are just getting a little boring after using them for a year and a half or so.
>>
>>59605997
yeah, knew that when I wrote it, I got lamp envy.
>>
>>59606144
If you like live edge wood you could look for slabs around your area, they are generally cheaper than finished wood.

My main issue with what I want to do is that with 4 rods of all thread for the rack the rods are the same cost as the wood, with three the cost is obviously dropped somewhat but still not a whole lot.

Then again it would match so I dont rightfully know what to do.
>>
>>59605997
channels dropping out is dry solder joints btw, very easy to fix if you have a soldering iron. dry joints will be on the bits you physically push.
>>
>>59606222
Maybe one of those situations where you know it is to expensive rationally but you just want it enough to just get anyways! And with it being something one off it gives it some legitimacy!
>>
>>59606315
Looked over the innards once to try and spot any obvious faults but as you say if the solder joints are the issue it would take very close inspection to see it. Will give it a look when i get the stuff ready to reorganize.
>>
>>59606331
Well the wood is a little over 200 dollars and the three rods of all thread at 4.5 feet long are a little over 130 dollars.

Which puts it in nearly the same price range as a Salamander Designs AV rack.

Plus I could say I made it.
>>
>>59606371
yeah, fair enough.
I would just re-solder the speaker terminals, cracked solder can be hard to spot bye eye, 90% of the time that's it.
I do love those vintage amps though, really cool.

1080 each, 16/10 from memory, didn't cost that much for the screens, about £50 each average, took about a year to collect them from ebay.
because afordable and uniform bezal all around.

Which Thinkpad models do you have there and what kind of camera do you use? I'm looking at getting a Fuji X100F but have always liked the idea of getting a film camera and simply keeping it for as long as possible. Something to get physical prints from, of course. The cost is really holding me back from doing this though... mainly the cost of film and development it seems.

My current main machine. Just got my desk in here and haven't gotten my other PCs set up yet. Been too lazy.

The keyboard/mouse/headset were gifts, wouldn't buy Razor trash for myself. Same thing with the case, originally built this system for someone else and they upgraded 6 months later and sent it right back. Haven't gotten a chance to put a proper OS on it yet so it's running Windows 7 for now.

>Haven't gotten a chance to put a proper OS on it yet so it's running Windows 7 for now.
Windows 7 is the only version of Windows that can even be considered a "proper OS".
So unless you mean GNU/Linux I don't know what you're talking about.

The rest of the system looks ok. Nothing special, a little cramped. What's up with the CRT?
Trash peripherals and a trash case but as you said, they were gifts.
>>
>>59610599
I'm talking about Linux, just need to ditch this K-series processor so I can do GPU pass-through. Thinking of just building a new system and giving this one to a friend though.

The CRT has been with me since 1999 or so, was the main monitor for the first PC I built. I use it for editing older video and playing older video games. Aside from that just use it as an extra monitor.

Planning on adding more monitors but my current mounts won't go high enough to put them where I want them. So for now I'm just using these three plus a TV that is to the right of the picture.
>>

>I'm talking about Linux, just need to ditch this K-series processor so I can do GPU pass-through.
I've been considering doing that myself of late. I just don't really have the time to be fucking around with installing a new OS on my desktop mid-semester.

What res is the CRT?
>>
>>59610687
Native is 1024x768@85hz. It'll go up to 1600x1200@60hz. Not the best CRT in the world but I have nostalgia for this one since I played some much Q3A on it. Soon as I get some money I'm going to get some proper CRTs to add to my collection of consumer grade ones.
>>
>>59610732
Not too bad. What do you consider a 'proper CRT' ?
>>
>>59610755
I got some proper crt free to a good home.
>>
>>59610755
Sony PVMs and similar CRTs. I work with a lot of video so they'd be helpful to have when I'm dealing with older sources. Sadly people have been buying them up and jacking up the prices as of late. All these hipster faggots have driven the prices of those old sets and 80s/90s stuff through the roof. Must be nice to be spending Dad/Mom's money instead of your own.
