Just took delivery of a rental 5DS R + 11-24, gonna try take some /bst/ pics on Sunday. This thing is ridiculous, the front element was like 2" from that passport & how they made something this wide _rectilinear_ is beyond me.

If you guys have HDTV's off to the side of your rig, how do you manage audio playback between the two devices? If I have a nice 5.1 system going to a receiver, how could I place the speakers so that both audio sources sound correct, rather than being off center?

Wouldn't this be the best layout to alleviate that problem? (Pic not mine.)

back when I had my stuff set up that way I used the 'proper' config for the HDMI in on the receiver so the orientation was correct for the TV, the analog surround output I just plugged in so that everything is rotated 90° (throwing away the center of course) so by changing the inputs on the receiver the orientation changes
of course that only works if you got identical speakers for all channels

Finally put some time into making my battlestation again after moving. Not done but finally feels good at least. I'm going to put up some art and maybe get a small plant and a comfy carpet. Thanks, just put the chair together an hour ago after it arrived. Replaced a shitcan of a chair I'd been suffering on for over a year.

The chair is the Alera Elusion with a headrest addon made for it that I bought separately. I can already feel my spine recovering from prior abuse.

As for the cables, I'd love to get a shroud for under my desk...the headphones and mic I use so often that the mess doesn't bother me, but I should hide them for future pictures for sure.

What's the best roll + swivel desk chair that reclines at least 135 degrees (aka 45 degrees backward), and has full back + head support?

I basically want a hybrid between an office chair and my comfy leather recliner.

The best examples I've found so far are all "gamer" chairs with really ugly, excessive branding on them. There are some relatively cheap examples on Amazon, but all have pretty poor reviews and look like bad build quality.

I unplugged everything and decided how I was going to run it. I ran it up the leg of the desk aand across the back. So I hooked up everything in levels, first USB periphs so my kb, mouse, mic, dac and put them on the spot on the desk where they would need the most cable. Then I did monitors, taping their bricks up on the leg of the table and the power strip as well. then I plugged everything in and taaped the cables together and then taped them onto the desk.

This is a temporary setup. My actual desk is wooden and doesn't have a leg like in yours or my pic. It's just a long slab. I will probably have to tape it down the "leg". I will take your suggestions into consideration though. But my PC is on the ground, not on the desk like yours. I also have a UPS that's behind my PC. My ultra wide is 1440p and runs at 100hz i bet you would fine it hard to tell the difference. Also as a 1440p ultra wide is getting close to the amount of pixels a 4k monitor has you need some serious hardware to run above 100 fps anyway

The variance was only about 6C at idle but at full load 29C. It seems rather insane how much of a difference it made. They did a REALLY poor job with the chip, you see the silicon sealant they used on the lid? It is almost a milimeter thick. That means there was an airgap. I'm able to reach 5.1GHz at very cool temps now with a crappy AIO.

100% worth it. This processor is actually a monster, it is just gimped from the factory. Take the time and delid it proper. 100% worth it. I used locktite super glue to rebond it. 4 dabs on all 4 corners.

Yes the 7700k, or at least MY 7700k, hit the thermal throttle point stock. That is what I would consider 100% faulty but returning processors in the US is next to impossible. I'm very happy to know it was just the tim and not a defect though. I probably shouldn't have risked it and tried to return it but it overclocks like a champ.

Not every 7700k is like this mind you. Some will only gain about 11C from a delid. There is certainly a serious problem with quality in production.

For what it is worth mine was assembled in Malaysia which is generally the inferior factory. If you can manage buy one that was made in Costa Rica.
