Most people aren't familiar with random, Chinese shitters you find on alibaba or Amazon my man.

The tritium will last 10-20 years which should be more than enough for the average watch. Assuming it's not made of the absolute cheapest potmetal it's durability will be fine unless you plan on deliberately and violently beating your arm against concrete constantly. Plus it's generic quartz garbage so there isn't a whole lot to break and if it does replacement is cheap.

I don't know why you wouldn't just get a G-shock instead of buying a pricey 45mm hunk of metal that's inside is probably 90% air.

It's fine but you're spending an awful lot of money for a fucking quartz watch.

>also I'm going for something I can wear to pubs without looking like a chav

You can't do that with any behemoth dive watch. You ever see pictures of your parents from the 1970s/80s and see how tacky and stupid their attire was and think "what on earth was going through their fucking head?", well that will be you if you wear a 45mm dive watch around everywhere.

Just bought this vintage Seiko 5 for 26 dollars off ebay, thinking of polishing the bracelet and the case with cape cod.
My questions are:
-How much money should cost me sending it to a watchmaker to clean the logo on the dial?
-The auction said "japan made" and the bottom of the dial says japan 6309 but auction was from india. This means only the movement is japan made and the rest was made on india? Or everything was made on Japan like the title said and then selled on india?
Please no shitposting I know you guys hate most things related to india but I really liked this watch.

But yeah you can put it on one of these "distressed" raw leather straps but I don't think it does the watch justice. You will see when it comes how beautiful it is depending on the lighting it looks 3 completely different ways. The Nato it comes on needs fucking burning.

780X series Cosmotron's are nice watches, though they don't sweep like a true 36Kbph watch. Also, you have the slightly unique 7803A movement with the seconds hand reset button on 8oclock.

Mine is still ticking nicely, and with newer batteries they can happily run for 18 months.

Is the second hand beat like halved compared to the balance wheel, ie 18000bph? I have a watchmaking book that goes into detail about all the electric movements, but it's from 1967 so it mostly deals with prototypes and concept movements, so I'm not sure if the Cosmotrons design is among them.

From the drawings on transistorized balance wheel movements it looks like the second hand only steps after a full oscillation.

Th rosegold looks a lot better imho so everybody will know you cheaped out on the watch and bought the "cheaper" piece. What's the fucking point then?

For luxury watches you can pay very high prices. How much of the price can be attributed to actual technological features, and how much do you pay for the brand name (Omega, Rolex, Patek, ...).

I'm pretty sure that at some price point, apart from material (i.e. gold), you only pay for the brand. I just don't know where that price point is.
>>
>>59387039
Most niggas don't even know what a patek or VC they can be understated as all hell. Homie perpetual calendars, minute repeaters and tourbillons cost big money and that's why only avant garde watches (the holy trinity plus JLC and AL&S) have them and are predominant at this price range. Finishing Is a massive factor too
>>
>>59387039
It's going to depend. Look at a lot of watches, you'll eventually be able to see, for example, two steel automatic 3-handers and know how "much" has gone into each one, and compare that to their prices.
>>
>>59387039
With Rolex, there's a thin line between the name and the features, because their name is built upon their features and their innovations.
And then normies just look at it and go "oo, shiney"
>>
>>59386992
I like the SNKL07.
Nice dial color and lume.
>>
>>59387039
there is only about $500 worth of gold in your average watch, perhaps an extra $400 if there is a gold bracelet
>>
>>59387346
this is an outright falsehood by the way, but seriously the precious metals used don't account for most of the price of a gold Rolex or Patek, it's a few grand difference from the same amount of steel
>>
>>59387346
wouldn't a bracelet have more gold than a case though

>>59387406
steel is easier to work with than gold as well.
>>
>>59387617
yes I tried to clarify that I was pulling numbers out of my ass.

a realistic estimate for the value of gold in a gold submariner is about 4500, but the difference in price from a steel to a gold sub is more than double that

Why don't watch makers also make wall clocks? I would love a sweeping seconds hand on an actually nice dial, but we get something like this

Again, a few years ago he didn't even see the point of wearing watches, yet now he acts as a smug pretentious douche on the matter posting reaction images from /a/ and elsewhere constantly. It's already well agreed upon his opinions are highly suspect. Try debating him and he'll start calling out your grammar or other shit as soon as he's cornered. He has also admitted to baiting people specifically, so like all other tripfags, causing and being cancer.

He's trying to beat Th!e.FaLconO6 in some dick waving posting contest but he's hardly amounted to anything of value.
