ok, so on bib filter your search to 2016/7 retail ebooks as they are most likely to get snatched. check what's been uploaded.
go to mam and cross-check which of those titles have been uploaded there.
when you get a match, download from mam and cross-seed to bib. that's it.
I did this ages ago and it obviously works best if you do it daily, at least at the beginning. after a while I spotted which mam uploaders source their uploads heavily from bib and bookmarked their uploaded torrents pages.
from then on I mostly checked their uploaded torrents and downloaded to cross-seed on bib.
I built up many GBs of cross-seeding torrents on bib by doing this..

sure there is. after you've downloaded the torrent from mam, grab the .torrent file from bib, and just before adding it to your client, click 'select none' to uncheck the file. this will prevent any data from being accidentally downloaded from bib, but it won't prevent the file from checking and seeding.

Unfortunatley no, they can't. I reversed the log checksum algorithm several months ago for another group making our own open-source checker - and it's symmetric. The log checker generates the right checksum and strcmp()s it - there was simply no way no-one else had noticed that, and indeed, someone else had.

I'm probably the only one who's actually broken it, however, because Andre just cannot into hash algorithms, even with a perfectly good Rijndael-256. He fucked it up.

If he ever listened to anyone he'd implement Ed25519 so the checker wouldn't have to embed a way to generate valid checksums, and even a signature tree for particular versions, but someone who's going to cheat is going to find a way to cheat.

EAC is going to be replaced eventually anyway once the new research pans out.

Yup the only people that would be interested in this sort of thing are those who ripped the CD themselves with EAC <1.0, so their rips are legit but only missing a log checksum. Then again, those individuals would have to edit the log by hand since v0.99 logs are not exactly the same as v1.0 logs (additional req'd data can be obtained from cuetools). After finishing the edits, slap a log checksum at the bottom, encode it in UCS-2 LE, save it and then run it (along with checklog.exe) through a debugger to obtain the new log checksum.

Run the newly edited log through checklog.exe to make sure that RED's logchecker won't ding you outright for an edited log. Afterwards, the staff will likely go over the log with a fine comb to look for spelling errors, misplaced data order, dates, EAC version info, etc to catch a log editor. If one is careful enough, it will be impossible for the staff to determine an edited log.

Yes and no. Private trackers are not the magic bullet to avoid the things you listed, your home IP will still be revealed in the swarm. It is just that the swarm will unlikely have as many copyright holders, or their agents, scouring the IP list when there's lower hanging fruit that are the public trackers. So, all in all, the risk still exists but it is substantially lower (for now).

This was going to be a blog post but EAC deserves at least an announcement…

The EAC verification method is outdated and compromised. Malicious users can append valid checksums to tampered logfiles. Unfortunately, this technique is already being exploiting across other trackers. We sincerely hope our members have enough sense to not attempt to modify log files as it will result in a permanent ban. We hope our users have accumulated enough buffer through the freeleeches and uploads without having to resort to the method described above. We do not believe our users would waste their time attempting to modify logs to gain buffer. We believe our community is just as dedicated to quality control as our staff.

The typical scenario of how this technique is used: a 0.99 is spoofed to look like a 1.0 with an appropriately generated checksum passing the logchecker as 100% verified. This does not mean they are transcodes, it simply means we can no longer verify the authenticity of any EAC Log (XLD is fine for now) but we trust you to make NWCD a treasure of correct metadata especially with our new release lineage feature.

EAC is still an option at this time for uploading as we trust our userbase to not forge logs.

All unverified torrents are currently NOT trumpable and we will let the community know when the trumping will begin. We are implementing our solution in the next FLAC FIRST milestone - more on this to come soon.
The verification system has run through all the old logs and is instantly verifying all new uploads.

If you have any information about reverse engineering the XLD checksum please contact staff.
