My PC is randomly making "power draining" sounds, once or twice a day.

It doesnt affect performance at all or anything else im aware of. It sounds like if you turn off your PC by holding down the power button, except its quieter and shorter. Any idea why this might be happening?

it's probably your hdd(s) spinning down automatically
you can disable this behaviour
>>
>>59256304
it last happenes during gaming. Does that sound right?
>>
>>59256406
if you have more than one hdd, sure
you'll be primarily using the hdd with the game on it, so if you have a separate storage drive, it could go unused long enough for it to idle-spindown

She can drain my power any day.

>>59256453
No i only have one HDD and i was running a game. So i dont think it wouldve spinned down. Fugg...
>>
>>59256497
it could be spinning down still, just that if it spins down unexpectedly, that's a sign it's failing
does the machine freeze or lag for a few seconds when it happens?
>>
>>59256537
Nope not at all. i wonder what it could be. could it be a power issue? Like conductiveness through the motherboard?
