Is there a way to bulk make MP3's louder?

I'm trying to set up the custom radio thing in GTA5 (inb4 fuck off back to /v/) and while it works, all the MP3's (using these because it's all it will accept) are super quiet.

H110 is the chipset and it has nothing to do with RGB, that's a function of the specific motherboard from the manufacturer, so read your manual.

I keep getting conflicting messages about what "bottlenecking" will actually do, and how much it's worth worrying about. I've got 4670K and am looking to upgrade my GPU from a 290 to a 1080, and everyone gives different answers.

>any modern i5 is the max you'll ever need
>the 4670K will cut about 20% of the performance off that card
>you need a 7700K if you really want to drive the card completely
>various conflicting videos showing 10-15 FPS difference in some spots and nothing in another
>etc

I'm honestly not sure what to do. Upgrading the 4670K would require a lot more money, as I'd need to upgrade the motherboard and I think the RAM as well.

Is there a straightforward answer to this?

a particular application will only run as fast as the slowest component will allow
the slowest component at any instance is called "the bottleneck"

what componets are potential bottlenecks and how much it's worth worrying about depends on what components you have and what applications you use

just to give you a basic example, lets say you pair a high end cpu with a low end gpu and try to run a graphically-intense video game on them
the graphics card will almost certainly be a major bottleneck, major in that the cpu will be very underutilized, "bottlenecked" by the gpu

>>
>>59200054
There will likely be minimal bottlenecking as long as your channels are the same (ie CPU supports PCIE3.0). The easiest way to check bottlenecking (performance wise) is to run a monitor while gaming. For instance, I've got a 2700k and a 980ti. I see my GPU maxing out it's usage before my CPU creeps up much past 40% usage.

Anyone here familiar with thermal management? What's the best way to calculate an optimal fan power curve for a closed loop liquid cooled system?

I've got a fully watercooled PC and I'm going full autist on """optimizing""" everything, because god damnit I want to get my moneys worth out of it. Sensors and data I have available.

- Flow sensor (Mechanical)
- Reservoir fill level sensor (MPS)
- Inline coolant temperature sensor
- Ambient air / intake air temperature sensor
- Internal case air temperature
- Exhaust air temperature
- GPU / CPU / HDD / SSD etc temps.
- 4x additional temperature probes I can put anywhere.

The software suite I have for monitoring and control allows the creation of any number of virtual sensors as well, which I can assign a data source to. Virtual sensors can include things like calculated power consumption, all kinds of shit.

Fans are all PWM, and I can create curve controllers to manage their power based on a sensor.

I want to keep my noise to a practical minimum without my system running any warmer than it needs to.

Sorry if this exceeds the scope of /sqt/

This question is more a matter of curiosity than looking for a fix, as I doubt there's anything that I can do about it, but here goes:

My monitor has these two large dark patches on it on the right hand side, and has had them since I got it (second-hand, not new). I'm just curious what could've caused patches like this. It's not particularly disruptive, and the monitor looks and works perfectly fine otherwise. It's just something I notice now and then.

Pic related, obviously.

Is there any way to organize headphones (inear) and cables together in a similar way like pic related? I can't think of a good diy way and the products I could find have too huge holes to hang bigger cables rather than inears - how does /g/ organize their inear headphones that they change between?

tl;dr: product or diy way to organize cables+inears in hanging fashion, being ready to be grabbed any time without major damage to the cables

Does anyone know of a way to connecting tablet screen to a pc, using it as a (secondary) monitor? Maybe a modding community or a forum?

I have aging samsung tab s 10.5, released in 2014 the processor is weak however it has 10.5 2k oled screen. Its literally best small screen I have ever seen. It would be a shame just to throw it away.
I have once found some czech site showing how to mod ipad screens(including extra parts etc) for use with pc but the site has dissipated.

Is it still safe to use pic related after they had a shit load of water spilled on them?

A glass of water got knocked off my bench and drenched one of these while it was plugged in and powering my PC. I quickly turned it off at the wall and pulled it out. I hit it over and over to try and get the big drips out, then I put it on the radiator overnight to try and dry it out. Then today I took it apart to make sure it was dry, seemed pretty dry, I gave it a blast with a hairdryer to make sure. It currently seems to be working fine. I was going to let it sit in 99% isopropol, but as it's flammable that didn't seem to smart so I didn't bother.

Wait, you're not making any sense. You can do a couple of things:

1. Boot from SSD, format HDD (that is, deactivating Windows installation because you're not copying shit anyway), do fresh install.
2. When doing a fresh install on the SSD, the HDD won't interfere because you select the device you want to install Windows on.

Sorry I was out for lunch.

OLED is #1 if you ask me.
The most important features of a TV are: Colors (including viewing angles) > Backlight > HDR > Resolution.

Nothing beats the LG's OLED TVs in terms of picture quality, OLED offers perfect colors and backlight.
Samsung wasn't able to make OLEDs so now they are selling "qdot" which is just a better LCD - but LG is better.

Curved TVs are better when you sit in the right exact, but much worse on any other angle or distance (too far/too close).
Also note that OLED has much better viewing angles which counters the plus of a curve.
>>
Whats the ideal size for a 2560 x 1440 monitor?
>>
>>59216747
Before you think I shill for LG (because people probably fanboy TV brands nowadays):
Every OLED TV on the market has a panel produced by LG - so I don't see a point in getting a different brand.

If you don't want to go with OLED I would go with a VIZIO.
VIZIO has great price-per-value and has a simple chromecast software instead of a bloated, slow and buggy android.
(VIZIO did have a privacy scandal - they have a good policy now but I would understand why someone would not trust them anymore).

Looking at the current TV tech out there, and the content available (data throughput etc)...
If you get OLED 4K w HDR now, you'll be good for next 10 years.
We are witnessing a pixelrace on displays right now (just like with cameras couple years ago) - but the rest of the ecosystem is maxed out.
>>
>>59216814
27 inch.

A 1440p 27" monitor has roughly the same pixel density as a 1080p 23".

>urved TVs are better when you sit in the right exact, but much worse on any other angle or distance (too far/too close).

when looking at that image i get the impression the curve has better viewing angles, how does this account for non centered viewers?

are we really in a pixel race though? 8k is only being pushed in japan and places like australia dont even broadcast in full 1080p yet.

I like what you say about the lg panels, i noticed a lot of ips monitors use the same panel, even mine uses it

>are we really in a pixel race though?
Pixel race is mainly on smaller screens right now.
Phones, tablets, ultrabooks. (A good thing but without it we couldn't do VR).
On TV's we are done, the storage media and cable just can't handle anything above 4K.
Also - resolution isn't everything. New encoding methods and stuff like HDR give more improvement than raw pixels.

>when looking at that image i get the impression the curve has better viewing angles, how does this account for non centered viewers?
There are many factors to consider in the curved vs flat decision (but srsly its a meme).
imo the experience on a curved TV when you're not in the ideal spot is a much bigger drop than the gain if you are in the perfect spot.

The "depth" or "immersion" of a curved TV is really minimal and you have to actively look for it to notice it.
While everyone looking from an angle will complain.

PS My roommate has a curved one. Also - the light in his room now reflects harder on the TV.

-> Automate the Boring Stuff with Python
-> Any online resources you need when stuck with something

Programs to use:
-> Any text editor (you can use, emacs, vim, textEdit, as long as you save files with a ".py" extension)
-> A terminal (Either Terminal on mac or Command Prompt on Windows), or use IDLE (a python shell)

You can't learn without doing, so I recommend you just start programming simple stuff (like the end-of-chapter exercises in the book) and gradually doing more complex stuff as you begin to get better

If I'm reading this correctly, you want the following:
You want to turn the following:
MAIN FOLDER:
--folder_a //ab and ac are sub_folders within a
----folder_ab
----folder_ac

into:
MAIN FOLDER:
--folder_a
--folder_ab
--folder_ac
//All at the same level

I would do:
 mv */* .

it's 2017. can i run different speeds of RAM?

ddr4 2133 vs ddr4 2400 in question
>>
>>59225460
You can run them both at 2133
>>
>>59225590
that's unfortunate, i was hoping someone would have tried supporting multiple speeds
>>
>>59225669
That would create way more problems than it solves

How secure is a live boot DVD like Knoppix 7.6?
>>
>>59225429
One level too far.
Folder A
--Folder 1
----Folder X
--Folder 2
----Folder Y

I want to move the contents of folder X to folder 1 and the contents of folder Y to folder 2

I learned python when I was in college and I'm thinking I wanna learn another language as a hobby project over the summer. C? I'm considering learning in assembly because I'm an autistic fuck but I don't think I'm good enough to really jump into it.

I use rdiff-backup

>replicates the directory structure so you can browse it with regular file tools
>keeps old deleted/changed files in zip files (so you can have past snapshots) and easily delete backups olderthandate with a simple command
>keeps file permissions in zip files so it doesn't care about the backup volume file system
>works with local hard drives and over the network

It's a bit slow and takes a bit of setup but once you get going it's a single command to backup and it just makes sense

Why do AMD CPUs get beaten by Intel CPUs that cost half as much?
>>
>>59231507
it depends on the tests.
Intel has a much better per core performance, so stuff that doesn't multithread well runs better on intel.
The 1800X will crush the i5 in anything else using more than 4 cores.
Though, a lot of applications don't utilize multiple cores well yet.

I'm aware that Imgur.com will stop allowing adult images since 15th of May. I'm taking actions to backup as much data as possible.
