I must apologize. I was really shill hungry last thread, and I felt really bad after being called out on it. I set myself on a 30 minute journey and browsed every headphone review I could find on Reddit, Head-Fi, and of course, 4chan.

So after 30 minutes, I am proud to introduce the new budget headphones.

are the Sony 1000X currently the best bluetooth headphones out there? had these for like a month and I absolutely love them so I felt the need to come shill for them

>NFC pairing way faster than bluetooth
>touch controls = no fumbling for buttons
>ambient noise to hear people talking to you
>20 hour battery
>sony hi res audio
>subjectively comfortable fit

can anyone else even compete?
>>
>>59160261
There are some with double or more battery life, but I doubt they can compete with sound quality.

>Ambient noise
That's not a plus.
>>
>>59160272
ambient noise is a feature on these that uses the touch controls to turn off the noise cancelling and turn on the mic only while palming the right earcup, it's not like it's always running. definitely a plus because it's stopped me from taking off an ear cup every time someone needs to talk to me

Right now, my mind is more set on K52, purely because of esthetic design. But maybe AT has better sound?
>>
>>59162803
If I spend up to 250€, will the quality improve drastically? Or would the sennheisers be enough?
>>
>>59163552
The next "worth it" Sennheiser is HD600, which is typically closer to 300€.

HD598se and HD600 are pretty much their peaks in performance/price.

There's other brands that make cans, of course, but I don't know them well enough to make suggestions.
>>
>>59162725
>>59163552
I may be too late, but also try Beyerdynamic DT 880s if they are in your general price range. HD 598s can sometime sound veiled and DT 880s are arguably more detailed.
>>
>>59163853
DT880s are more detailed but also have pretty terrible soundstage if that's important too you. HD598s have better soundstage than 880s and also even HD600s.
>>
>>59163988
Terrible? Since when? The DT 880s are as wide as the HD 598s, just not as deep. What do you mean?
>>
>>59163853
I've heard that, besides being colored, DT880 do also image worse ie: Less detailed.

desu "sounds veiled" might be lack of an amp. An amp made a night and day difference on my HD598. Apparently, they do have some really odd impedance vs freq curve, which I guess is how they manage to bullshit their way into 50Ω "works plugged anywhere".

They also arent' picky about amps. Any will work.

For an open headphone they really lack a sense of depth. From my experience the soundstage is very 2D. It became really obvious playing battlefield on a large map. Everything on 880s just sort of sound like its coming from the same distance away and became confusing. DT990s have a much better soundstage but are V shaped.

None, complete virgin at this. I'm trying to get into audio in general, so i'm alright with getting a cheaper starter pair. So long as the sound quality is decent and they'll last me until Fall, I won't be too picky.

SHP's aren't incredible, but they're comfy and sound decent.
Not a ton of bass and slight grainyness, but they're open which you didn't request.

CB-1 are neutralish, comfy stock.
M40x might be what you're after, a more reputable company but less comfort stock.
Hm5 are a bit more than your budget but neutral with pads you won't need to replace.

Regarding the shilling, take everything here with a grain of salt as a lot of people are trolling.
>>
>>59165517
Thanks for the reply. I'll do some research on the M40x. The Hm5s are indeed out of my range but I may consider saving for them depending on what I find reading about them. Thanks for the recommendation by the way. What's the difference between the 80 ohm and 250 ohm model though? They're the same price.
>>
>>59167745
250ohm is not as loud as 80ohm from the same source. 250 ohm has a coiled cable.

The limited edition 16ohm seems like a good buy as well and those have black velour pads which keep their appearance longer.
>>
>>59167545
>I'm not sure. I don't need them to damp any outside noise though.

Closed = compromises for isolation. Therefore Open.

> High since I would be wearing them all day

Got it.

>I'm not sure.

I recommend neutral. Once you get used to it, it's the best. V is fatiguing.

100-150€ -> HD598se

I'd suggest an amp (schiit fulla2, fiio e10k) to unleash its potential and override issues with possibly shitty sources (like PCs with bad isolation causing noise).

The HD598 has some weird impedance vs frequency curve. It sounds alright to begin with, but it's considerably better with an amp. Any amp will work, as long as it's not the sort that colors the sound (garbage!).
>>
>>59167650
>Enhanced bass

I see what you did there.
>>
>>59167947
Damn the amp really bumps up the overall cost but the special edition hd 598 isn't even in stock and the regular version is 230€. Meanwhile on amazon.com it's $150.

668b also the more compare to the HD518 instead of the SPHs

If you look at the charts you can see the 668b peak higher in the bass then the HD518 but where the 668s level off to neutral in the mids the 518s stay boosted there before falling off a cliff in the highs so the 518 are the bassier headphones. The 668 attempts to stay neutral in the highs unlike the 518 but where they peak makes their highs sound thin and metallic. Ultimately that wierdness in the upper registers is why I would keep the 518s over the 668bs

Phillips sound more precise and accurate were the 518s can get a little dirty(for some people muddy) it's kinda hard to pick up and describe but for me after a/b'ing the headphones I can notice like a compression or squeezing of the sound on the 518s. Hi, /hpg/. I just bought bought a pair of Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro 80 ohm Limited Edition for €131/£112/$139. Did I do okay?

Just after pulling the trigger I realized I found the same pair on Amazon with free shipping, which would be almost €15 cheaper. No going back on that now. Plus shipping would have taken a significantly longer, so it's not all bad news.

I've heard the new 32-ohm version is very good. But I could only find the Pro 32 ohm (i.e. softskin rather than velour) and they were more expensive, so I decided on 80 ohms instead.

You did well for the price. I just hope you like bright headphones.
>>
>>59174685
You can't. That would result in no sound (the pin on the amp is now touching rubber).

Shure makes an adapter (https://www.provideocoalition.com/ts-trs-trrs-trrrs-combating-the-misconnection-epidemic) but can't find it for sale anywhere.

Thanks, friendly Anon.

I just realized I wasn't actually eligible for free shipping. I'm in Ireland, so I could've gotten free shipping if it was dispatched by Amazon. In this case it was dispatched by the seller who was offering free shipping strictly in the UK. Okay, I don't think anyone really cares about that but I have now told you anyway.

despite that anon's over-enthusiastic posting, 9500's are actually great sounding headphones.

pic is for spidey phones guy

Samson SR950's are supposed to be good for the price... or so I've been told.
>>

that tie fighter one is pretty sick
>>
>>59175505
Now, how do you think they sound?
>>
The bluetooth device on my laptop (Linux) has the necessities to do so, but I can't change volume with the headphones (Sennheiser M2 AEBT). I can, however, if I'm connected by USB (it's recognized as an analog output which seems to make it work).
>>
Does anybody use their headphones for gaming?
What do you use for voip?
>>
>>59175829
I use mine for everything.
>>
>>59175990
This. Grab a home pair and you're set.
>>
>>59176250
I mean, why even have nice headphones if you're not going to use them for everything?
>>
>>59176274
You wouldn't use and open set out in a commute to work like the shills last thread talking about HD 600's on the bus.
>>
>>59176290
HD 600s on the bus? Kek.

Anymore context?
>>

People use this?

What are PortaPros.
>>
>>59176405
Just a bunch of ironic shills im the last thread or the thread before suggesting HD 600's with a Fulla 2 on the bus for someone that needed a suggestion for a guy needing a pair of phones for commuting to work.
>>
>>59176443
Kek. Good stuff.

Did the anon at least get a proper answer?
>>
I believe he got Status CB-1's
>>
>>59174331
Nothing particularly, as long as you want a V-shape.

Good idea to buy used from the Amazon Warehouse deals?

I would imagine most of them are just headphones people try and send back after a week.
>>
>>59177501

I've heard that it's hit or miss; might be virtually brand-new open box, might reek of cigarettes and filth.

Caveat empor.
>>
Best V-shaped headphone: DT880, DT770, or X2's?
>>
>>59160491
does that guy have an anime on his foobar
>>
>>59177606
Afaik, he has moderate transparency on his foobar window so his desktop's wallpaper comes through.
>>
>>59177600
x2. I don't think the 880's are really v shaped and the 770's are closed.
>>
>>59160491
I wonder how much he gets paid for doing that.
>>
>>59177600
I thought the x2's are considered "dark"

Well, the pastepin in the OP is down, so I'm going to ask you fa/g/s instead:
My Seinheiser K240 Studio's aren't cutting it any more. They still sound pretty good (the bass is a tad flat though), but they are ungodly uncomfortable to wear, and after 4 or 5 years the padding has completely worn and the drivers are mostly pressed up against my ears, even with the toilet paper under the rim thing. It's gotten to the point where they hurt after more than 90 minutes.
Anybody have recommendation for some over the ear, comfort emphasized cans? I don't really have a budget per say, but I guess Ideal price range is $99. I could go over if you guys know of something awesome though. I mostly use it for music without any fancy audio setup like dac, sound card, anything like that. Just right out of my computer. Sometimes for gaming and movies too, so I guess closed and/or sound isolating might be a nice feature.

>>59175829
I use my nice headphones with a Antlion Modmic attached. Once you use the wire clips to keep it from becoming cable spaghetti, it's actually a pretty nice solution. Stops you from going out and buying a shitty gaming headset. Protip; get the version that doesn't include the mute. Just use push-to-talk. Save yourself $5.
