My next purchase will be a you're keyboard, wanted one for a while my corsair K70 was one of my most regretted purchases.
Tossed between a Leopold or HHKB. Even a realforce isn't out of the question.

They just feel nice.
Great consistent weight, good bottoming out feel, they're just a consistent typing experience.
I had a play on a Leopold, it was night and day better than any cherry switches I've used. Although, I am questioning on whether it is really worth the price difference, I'm not exactly flush with money.
>>
>>58943128
I have that.
The build isn't as top-notch as it looks, especially the top shell, a light press would deform it.
The keyboard is shallow, the key slightly flexes, and if the average asus keyboard (for that price range) is any indication, the paint will chip away in a year.
The FHD screen on mine isn't exceptional either, especially the matte coat, which is too rough.

>>
>>58948917

There's a lot that can go wrong with a NAS if you're a cheapskate and/or a retard. The hard drives can fail prematurely, the hard drive controller can fuck off if you're doing RAID, your network drivers can be crashy and unstable.

And that's just the local hardware problems. Your router can fuck you over, too, and so can your software. I had a torrent client with a memory leak once that bluescreened my server once every 32 hours.

Truly doing a NAS properly requires a very thoughtful holistic approach. You're building infrastructure, not a fucking game console.

Hello OP. I'd highly recommend the Zenbooks. I have UX305 and it's absolutely incredible. No fans so it literally makes zero noise even under high load. Extremely light and the perfect size to fit in small bags/backpacks for easy transport. Insane battery life of 8+ hours. Pretty powerful specs for such a small notebook as well. I use pic related at home and the Zenbook when I'm on the go. It's pretty much the perfect combination.

There's no way consumer parts are built for this sort of service.
If you want a good NAS but don't want to pay for Synology etc snap up an old 1RU rack server. They are cheap and built like brick battleships. Usually come with fast storage and adaptors for faster external storage.

I think the Spectre keyboard is fine for being a low-travel keyboard for a 2-in-1, its squishy but it has solid pressures.

Well how else would you run Windows?

My current UMPC turns 11 this year and has never had an issue with it. I can guarantee it's never been opened before this and when I cracked it open there was hardly any dust inside.

their capabilities are so similar it would be trivial to combine them, so why not

Windows is not free as in freedom

My next purchase is gonna be a new a laptop for my mother, just started looking into it and it seems like 1366x768 is still the standard.

Why is this? Why is such out dated technology still used. I thought those panels would have been phased out years ago.

Any recommendations for a cheap, low end basic laptop that doesn't have a potato screen?

So far I'm thinking a tank pad E560 might be the best option.

Probably a GTX 2070 mini, together with a new build (will likely sell old one, or take out PSU and RAM and sell the rest) with a motherboard which has like a M.2 slot underneath (and wifi), SilverStone SFX-L PSU, 16GB of the cheapest RAM I can find, probably newest Intel i5 model (likely K, will watercool), and finally a single M.2 drive around 1-2TB.

When there's a passively cooled ultraconvertible with mobile network built in which can play 4k videos without a hitch and weighs around 1kg, I'll probably buy that.

I also plan on selling my current home server (which does more than it needs to) and building myself a decent file server at least 12TB in size with 4 3.5" drives in RAIDZ (hardware), having ECC RAM (unbuffered) together with the cheapest ECC compatible CPU I can find, and possibly an M.2 drive underneath the motherboard (currently impossible combined with the rest). All in the smallest case I can possibly cram them into.

Some day...
