Finally a watch for adults without any bullshit meme stickers or writings on the cypher sheet.
Why would anyone ever care where the fucking watch was made when he wants to know the time?
Why would anyone ever would know the brand of the watch if he wishes to know the time?
>"Wait a minute, just refueled my AMG Mercedes, let me check what time it is. Oh! It says it's 50m water proof on the front! Nearly forgot about that again! Thank god my watch just told me."
Fucking retarded.
And the wealthy nigger cattle still buys all that memery with "rolex" or "breitling" enblem on it.

Is there any good digital wristwatch that is metal all the way through? It can't be much larger than a F91W either.
>>58910696
if it's metal all the way through how do you read the display?
>>58910707
I meant the casing should be all metal, unlike Casio's models which are apparently metal plated now.

Here's a size comparison with an F -91W.
>>58910913
I meant that it seems a bit thick, should have written that more clearly.
>>58910928
It's about average for a steel case watch I'd say. It fits under a shirt cuff no problem. I'd say because it's very 'flat' it wears thinner than it is.
>>58910537
How much of a bitch is bezel insert replacement? I have an skx031j that the person who refurbed it never secured the bezel insert on. I may grab pic related and throw it in there in the next few weeks when I get paid.
>>58910939
I see, I guess I'll consider it then. How does it compare to the Casio F-91W in more technical aspects? Like, does the battery last long, does it keep time well, and is it simple to set the time?
Also, how wide is the strap?
>>58910953
Oh, by the way, does it use a standard battery like a CR3032?
>>58910945
It's easy as fuck. If you can change a strap you can swap a bezel insert.
Are there modern digital watches with only text in Cyrillic? I think it looks really cool, but Soviet watches must be really unreliable at this point since they have a quite a few years on their back.
>>58910953
The battery is probably 3-5 years, I dunno what type as I haven't changed it yet.
It keeps time as well as any digital watch. And is as easy to set as any other digital watch.
It has a 20mm lug width, it comes with a rubber strap but I swapped for a Strapcode super engineer that cost more than the watch.
>>58910984
>I dunno what type as I haven't changed it yet.
I just noticed on the Amazon page that "Batteries: 1 Nonstandard Battery batteries required". This is a deal breaker for me, I really want to use standard batteries, just in case.

Recommend me a €100 watch that can cover all bases. At work I'm surrounded by kids who wear shiny new Rolexes at 22 years old and I regularly meet with millionaires and billionaires who have Patek collections. How many useless parts does a 7s26 actually have? Any idea what would have broke?
I've read a 7s26 rotor is made of two soldered parts, one attached to the ball bearing, and one being the actual "weight", and some people have seen the two split up. Could it be this is the issue and the rest of the rotor is hefty enough to wind it- thus fixing it would be as easy as opening it and removing the loose weight?

Ok /wt/ I need a quartz and I have been looking at 3 options here. I don't know a lot about watches so I can't tell if the prices here are fair.
This is appealing because it is solar powered. I guess I wouldn't have to change the battery very often then. How relevant is titanium?

>Once for a misaligned chronograph second hand,

But third time was the charm.
Pros
> +/- 4 seconds a day after half year ownership
> absolute workhorse movement
> satisfying flywheel Chrono action and handwinding
> ~48 hour power reserve
> under 500 in Canada
>really love the exhibition caseback exposing the super decorated ST-19 movement
> chronograph minute hand ticks with each successive 60 seconds
Cons
> shitty Chinese quality control either get a good 1963 or a shit 1963

i didn't even know it had a divers extension for about 3 months. it's still not clear to me what the product story is there. like is this for if i crash my plane into the harbor and i suddenly need to dive after it?
>>58908821
My local watch guy does services for $45
How does he even make money? He is actually doing the work as well, not rippping me off
Would he just be doing it as a hobby while his wife sells jewellery? It doesn't make sense. $45 dollars/hour is a pretty reasonable hourly rate to be paid in Australia, just a comparative for cost of living
>>58924401
the fuck?
i gotta feeling he just slaps oil on the exposed pivots and times it to a decent accuracy. "Service."
A full overhaul from us costs about 200$ for a basic movement. And yes, we kinda half ass some things.
I'm going to the army this summer, and I don't want to break my nice watch there. I'm thinking about getting a Casio f-91w and a cheap black/gray 18mm nato off amazon. What do you think of this?
>>58925072
I like it
>>58925072
Get a casio LW201 instead. More accurate, higher battery life, higher water resistance, and barely more expensive.
>>58918533
Very small.
>>58922408
The name is on the dial anon...
>>58922587
Are people really paying over $100 for an old beat up vostok?
>>58922621
Well they're quartz. Probably a bit more accurate than cheapo quartz movements, so accurate enough for anyone that doesn't need a radio controlled watch.
>>58924005
Good goy
>>58916265
Bad.
>>58923875
Barely 6"
>>58924822
I asked him what he did. Takes it apart cleans the
parts and puts them back in lubraicted. Oddly cheap, honestly might just do it cheaply or be out of touch with prices, his wife is in there selling jewellery and he is doing jewellery repairs as well
He knows that he is talking about when I quizzed him on some finer things about watches
>>58918533
PIC related is a 34mm watch compared with a 42mm SKX. 30mm will be tiny and is pretty much a women's watch.
>>58925870
you're just fat.
>>58922822
You need to short the module with tweezers
>>58922822
>>58925923
Also notice I said module, not case
>>58925696
It's not beat up though. And yes, this model is significantly hyped for whatever reason, though not nearly as much since they introduced the design on new models.
What's the best looking quartz diver under 200$?
>>58925870
Tag ref?
>>58925844
What the fuck man, thats like a 38mm watch
You make it look like a Hublot or something
Why didn't your parents give you some HGH?
Pic related is about the same size as yours, and this is after about an hour in the cold too
>>58926063
I suppose they should've.
My Ruhla moonphase watch has just arrived and I've put it on a nicer brown leather strap. The watch itself is really slim and there's no ticking sound, really comfy. Rate pls.
>inb4 quartz dogshit
>>58926418
If the hands numerals and moon phase were more refined and toned done it'd be a beauty
Is I actually made in Germany tho?
How's the finishing on it
>>58926476
The finishing is more than what I would expect from a 60€ watch, the case solid stainless steel with a matt finish. I agree that it would look better with a more decorated moon like on the Ball or Christopher Ward moonphase watches, but the wheel it uses is the standard one from a Swiss Ronda 708 movement.
Ruhla is an East German company with an interesting history, I'm pretty sure they assemble the watches in Germany since it's a small production but the case and most other parts must be from China obviously, otherwise it wouldn't be this affordable.
They renamed the company after the German reunification to Gardé Ruhla because of copyright issues (they weren't allowed to use the city's name as their brand name) and since then they've specialised themselves in building radio controlled quartz watch movements to compete against the Asian leading market. This one doesn't use an in-house radiocontrolled movement of course.
I've always been a mechanical watch guy but this watch will definitely cover my need for a moonphase watch.
Really thinking about getting one of these
>>58926598
if you have to really think about it, perhaps you shouldn't be spending $60 on accessories. there are clocks everywhere.
>>58926192
This is a joke right?
How tall are you?
>>58926584
What strap is that?
>>58926661
Well i've only been thinking about it today.
Its either that or this
>>58926682
https://www.ebay.de/itm/301957266447
Bought the darker one but the listing doesn't exist anymore since I bought the last piece. It's a nice leather strap for cheap, don't know if it's still affordable of you order from abroad though. I live in Germany.
Parents are buying me a watch as a present but it appears I can afford something like Oris at best. They refuse to buy second hand etc. Am I better off telling them I'd rather save up for a lifetime watch or do I just accept it? I have nothing against wearing an Oris but I feel like as soon as I can afford it I would buy a more expensive watch and their money would go to waste.
>>58913095
This
Also, I would buy the shit out of this watch. Any different color schemes?
>>58926772
Follow your heart anon. Get a watch you actually really want
>>58926784
Seems kind of ungrateful to say "i dont like your 1500eur present id rather refuse so i can get something even better", I don't want to come out like a spoiled brat, and those watches don't look all that bad either. I'm really 50/50 on this.
>>58926808
I cant decide for you, but if you're actually getting into watches you'll probably fall in love with something different eventually anyway. Very few people who are into watches only wear 1 their whole life, your taste will probably change as you get more and more into it.
>>58926772
A lot of people wear more than one watch.
>>58926669
5'2"
>>58926808
You could just say you'd rather put the money towards whatever watch you desire most. If you plan on eventually having both the oris & whatever your grail is, just flip a coin.
>>58926669
>I cant believe theres someone different than me
>This must be a joke
>Point and laugh guys
>>58926669
Did you take creepshots of the girl in the boots? I bet you did. Post them.
>>58927069
Alright, calm down manlet.
How do you guys feel about timex field shock? specifically
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Timex-Expedition-Field-Leather-TW4B01200/dp/B00U2G5JU8/
Model num. TW4B01200
I'm wondering if the dial turns
>>58927518
forgot pic
>>58926697
I was considering this but the numerals seem dogshit imo
>>58926661
Ignore this pleb
>>58926697
Really like the design, I say go for it.
>>58920532
Got mine in december.
It's a beauty, I'm never tired of looking at it. It's pretty accurate too, tho maybe I've been lucky.
The only real con for me is the loud ticking.
Great for its price, would recommend 9/10
>tfw you always want new watches
>have like 8 or so
>maybe wear 2~3
>>58925906
How would that change the size difference between the two watches?
>>58926021
It's a WA1212 but with the bezel from a WA1213 (I think), it's got a fully lumed dial.
>>58927896
more watches need a lumed dial
Why have digital watches seemingly gone the way of the dodo?
>>58927910
Looks tacky imo fampai
>>58927967
it's about 1000x more useful
>>58927952
Casio literally sells more of their cheap digitals then every other watchmaker in the world combined.
>>58927518
When the bezel has numbers right side up at the bottom, it's a good sign that it doesn't rotate.
>>58928149
didn't even cross my mind, new to watches mate nice one for the tip
>>58927896
Pitiful.
>>58927967
Works great on military-style watches where khaki is already a thing.
>>58928035
Yes, but they've used the same designs for ever. Go look at older digital watches and you find a bunch of varied watches.
>>58926063
What the fuck!
Where are your knuckles?
>>58928408
He ate them. Don't you see the (presumably) fork?
>>58928389
So? They still outsell all other watches combined, which is about as far from "going the way of the dodo" as humanly possible.
Any automatics around 39-40mm, under $250 which you find nice?
I'm up for any look really.
>>58928426
That's a bit broad m8
>>58928426
Oh man you make me feel worse about owning my Ray after seeing that.
>>58928462
To be fair, it's nowhere to be found!
>>58928460
It was a bit broad. Something clean, like pic related, but doesn't have to be a Seiko. The Seiko 5's are a tad small at my wrist, at 38mm.
>>58928462
I admit it looks nice but it's still a tasteless Rolex homage.
>>58928520
Why is orient such shit
Thinking of getting the SSC021P1
how long do solar batteries last on average before breaking? and are they user replaceable?
>>58928426
Which model is this?
>>58928520
>>58928644
Hommage or not, it's a gorgeous watch for a tiny fraction of the Rolex one.
>>58912383
You wear frayed shits as dress shirts!?
Shocking.
>>58928715
Orient's branding ruins their watches.
What does /g/ have against quartz movements?
>>58928970
their heraldry logo is great. stfu
>>58929045
it's gaudy as shit and carries no prestige. It's like an invicta logo
>>58929107
>in house movements
>as much history as seiko
>bulletproof quality for value
yeah nah you don't know what you're talking about comparing it to tv shopping fake brand like invicta
>>58928462
>feel worse about owning my Ray
Why?
>>58929128
It's Seiko's retarded poorfag brother brand, gtfo.
>>58928864
Would you like to try that again in English, autismo-kun?
>>58929045
It gets a lot of shit, but I like it
>>58928992
Nothing, inherently. The overwhelming majority of quartz watches are unbelievably cheaply and thoughtlessly made, but high quality quartz watches don't get shit in here.
Mind you, a lot of watch fags are into mechanical movements and have no interest in quartz watches, but that's not the same thing as hating them.
>>58929045
It looks like some beer logo.
>>58929128
Lol. Seiko is better at EVERYTHING.
>>58918533
'bout the right size to wear it up your ass and pass it on to your son for him to do the same
>>58929184
>>58929148
Get a load of the seiko "purists"
>>58929182
>Coat of arms?
>I think you mean beer logo XD
>>58928408
>>58928420
Chill, the shitty camera on my xperia Z ultra doesn't do detail so well
>>58928323
It is tritium lume that's over 20 years old, I'm glad it glows at all!
>>58929225
Shut up you idiot.
>>58928408
Under all the protective blubber.
>>58929184
>>58929148
Credor>GS>Orient Star=Seiko JDM>Orient=Seiko>Orient 3>Seiko 5
fite me
>>58929344
I think I'd kill a family member for a Credor Eichi.
>>58927896
Thanks m8.
>>58929344
>Credor>GS
Only specific parts of the Credor line could even compare to GS. And now the 8 day power reserve Grand Seiko was made in the micro artist studio. Meaning some of Seiko's best efforts makes it into the GS line.
>>58929344
Orient star and 3 star are literally who's
Seiko 5s are 10x as iconic as 3 stars which look gaudy as shit
>>58929454
No worries.
>>58929472
That 9R01 is very nice but for something that basically looks exactly like a lot of other GS models but costs $75k+, even if it's platinum, seems pointless.
The high end Credor models at least have original designs.
>>58929221
Just stating the facts. Seiko is better at literally every single aspect of watch design and manufacture than Orient.
>>58929634
So it's a GS that looks like a GS? That's not original enough?
>>58929522
>Seiko 5
>not cheap folded monstrosities
pick one
>>58929639
They're literally the same company m8. Their USA shop has been doing really nice things. Probably the only company that uses sapphire under $200
What is a good ultra cheap automatic mechanical?
TFW in-between band sizing
Everything is either too tight or loose.
>>58929690
So if you had that much money to buy a watch at that price you're seriously telling me you'd buy that GS?
>>58929700
While both are part of the Seiko Group, Orient is owned by Seiko Epson whereas Seiko Watch Corporation is owned by Seiko Holdings. The companies are managed completely independently.
>>58929787
If I was looking to spend that much on a watch, I might. It is a little big though. I might need to try it on first.
I'd need a lot of money to be at that point though.
>>58929522

>>58929700
>ignoring the point that they are more iconic than the orintended 3 star and thereby better because you know it's true
>ignoring the point that the 3 stars are gaudy
>cherry picking
>ignoring the fact that you can change the cheap folded links
>implying any watch as cheap as the seiko 5 line is gone have a shit bracelet
Kys my man
>>58930029
It says Charizard
>>58929145
Well I wasn't aware Orient made such blatant ripoffs. But really I love the Ray I couldn't be happier given the price
Reverso or explorer?
>>58929713
seiko snk809. can be had for $50 if you look.
>>58930029
The model name isn't.

>>58930306
What about a diver?
>>58930179
they used to make knockoffs decades ago. they have their own thing nowadays. you'll notice all their designs now are original.
>>58930042
>iconic buzzword
>3 stars are retro cool
>paying more for an aftermarket band than the watch itself
>even SKX have shit bracelets
>>58930352
vostok amphibia. $70 new.
go in with your eyes open, they're not amazing watches and have their quirks. I really like them myself.
For something more classic, Seiko sea urchin.
>>58930493
cheap and good ive been hearing alot of good things about them are they truly the best cheap automatic mechanical divers?
Wearing my franken Vostok Amphibirskie on leather now, do you guys like it?
>>58930672
yes
Thoughts on the Rolex Explorer 2 in black? dont like the mercedes hand. I like the metal case. I dont like black, and the white version looks liberacci gay.
I like the tudor black bay with a red bezel. Are proper leather wrist straps comfy? I like the metal bracelet on my cool blue Aquaracer, the leather on my Seiko Sportura broke and i never felt like it was safely on my wrist.
>>58930527
they're the cheapest new unless you go for literal chinese shit i'm pretty sure
>>58930716
the explorer 2 looks terrible.
yes, good leather straps are good.
>>58930834
The holes on my seiko strap streched with use, I am not that fat.
>>58930820
great they look fantastic thank you.
>>58930710
Spasiba
Can someone with an accutron 2 tell me how much it gains or loses ?
>>58930716
Are you talking the new 216570(?) Explorer ii, or the older 16570? Older ones look better in white, newer ones look better in black.
Id buy an older one, better value, and the hands seem oversized on the new ones, the proportions are wrong imo.
>>58931227
How old is old? 2005? 1991?
>Invicta
>Orient
which should I waste my 200-300 dollars on?
>>58930228
Explorer is more versatile, but the reverso has more snob cred.
What is your lifestyle? Whats already in your collection?
If you already have a good casual watch, i say reverso. But if your looking for a good first mechanical, you have nothing else in your collection, i say explorer. The explorer is tough, and water resistant, and can be worn at almost any occasion. It comes from a great brand, and has a good movement, and most good independents always have parts accounts with Rolex when its time to get it serviced/fixed.
If you already have something like that though, Reverso, all the way.
>>58931440
orient mako usa ii
Side question how decorated are rolex movements?
>>58931384
Theres been 4 different iterations of the explorer ii.
Ref#: 1655, 1970s
Ref#: 16550, 1980s
Ref#: 16570, late 80s to 2010
Ref#: 216570: 2010-present
(Approx)
The 1655 and the the cream 16550 are collectible and way expensive. The 16570 is the sweet spot. As long as the previous owner got it serviced every 5-10 years, it should be fine. Rolex still has parts for them, and theyre usually cheaper than the 16710 gmt, which is the exact same watch, the 16570 explorer ii just doesnt have a rotating bezel.
Id go for something made around 2003, thats when they switched to the SEL bracelet.
>>58931665
Probably not so much. I don't think I've seen a Rolex with an exhibition caseback.
