After looking for a nice quartz moon phase watch I've ordered pic related last night. R8 pls.

>inb4 quartzshit

Moon phase is one of the few complications that totally justifies a quartz. And it's a Swiss Ronda, I guess it's not that shit.
Thinking about removing the seconds hand myself if the ticking triggers me visually though.
>>
>>58882087
Ronda are pretty good movements, I've got a watch with one and since I last set it when the clocks went back it has lost a total of 0.5 seconds.

Since you keep begging for attention, I agree. It looks like something you'd find on Aliexpress for $5. Granted, Ruhla was never about high quality. Hopefully in person it doesn't look like such shit and you get a real strap for it. It will probably run fine.

I saw high-speed footage by Seiko of it on YT. It might as well be considered instantaneous.
>>
>>58884040

It was around $1800 total.

I figured what I pay upfront will be saved in not having to pay an arm and a leg to service it every 3 years, as I probably would with a spring drive/snow flake.

We'll see.

Also the accuracy that I've seen so far on this watch is just as advertised. Temperatures where I am have swung by 30 degrees in the past few days and the god damn thing is still at 0+/-. Fits perfectly on my wrist l, and feels quite solid. Like it could last a lifetime.

I sold a Junghans Max Bill Chronoscope to get this. It's a step up imhof

>>
>>58883401

Between about 1959 and the late 1980s, the two Seiko factories operated as independent competitors that did not share parts, movements, or R&D, but did share marketing resources.

While Suwa developed Grand Seiko branding, and Daini developed the King Seiko line, eventually both produced models in each line.

What bears noting is that Daini's movement designs tended to be technically superior, including one of the greatest volume produced hand-winding high beat movements of all time (the 45xx line that ended the Swiss chronometer trials), one of the best volume produced chronograph movements (the 701X), one of the greatest series produced 28,800 bph autos ever (the 52xx), and the only ladies sized 36,000 bph movement ever produced.

Personally I also happened to prefer Daini's styling to Suwa's, but that is a matter of taste.

Yes on both.

It's good if you're an ultra poorfag and really want an auto watch. But I wouldn't expect great accuracy (at all) and once the oil dries up it's not worth the cost of servicing so you either have to do it yourself (good luck) or just toss it.

One of the sexiest casio digital watches. Although maybe the unplated version is better. I heard the plating doesn't last.

It's like you stuck an average watch up your ass, made an ad on craigslist for an all male gang bang, had 30 dudes wreck your asshole and fill you up with their loads, tossed some food dyes into your gaping ass, then had the 30 dudes fuck you again, and the finally shat that out as a result. The only good thing about this watch is that it would kill you via multiple venereal diseases because that's how big of a faggot you'd have to be to like it.
>>
Why do Timex watches seem to last forever?
>>
>>58889387
so you don't like it?
>>
I want to make my own watch, did any one of you did this?

My plan is to 3d print this for example, make a silicon form. After that i will put my watch.
The hard part is i don't know where to get nice mechanism (eta probably) and case with glass. My dream is to make absoulty custom watch from the begging included metal case (triangle as Hamilton watch) and face.
>>
>>58889597
That sounds profoundly retarded.
>>
>>58889597
Good luck getting an ETA from anyone that isn't a shady as fuck eBay seller.

You may be able to grab a 9015, but otherwise the only place I can say for sure that you can grab an intact, and functional movement, would be from Vostok.
>>
>>58881524
That's Vostok Europe. Entirely different designs, entirely different facilities.
>>
>>58889645
Are you high? It literally says Boctok at the end. Regardless, Vostok Europe doesn't even make movements that's why they import from Vostok and others, so why would they have equipment to do so?
>>
>>58889634
you can easily get them off of otto frei.

i just bought a new 6497 movement off of ebay. no problem.
>>
>>58889597
this >>58890473
not this >>58889634
Though be prepared to deal with otto frei's abrasiveness.
>If you are not a watch repairperson you have no rights or sane reason for purchasing a movement. Before rocket science was a science watches were considered man’s finest most delicate machines to date.
>Watch movements should not be handled by anyone who is not prepared to repair it or pay a trained professional to find and fix the problem. Those who have never worked with watches before and think they can install a movement in a watch case,
>without any training or professional help, well you better be prepared to buy 3 or 4 movements or at least pay some one to repair the first one you broke.
>>
>>58888289
SKX fits all of these except the sapphire.
>>
>>58890505
>>58889597

dont even go to frei. just get a new movement from ebay.

the customer almost never gets fucked. if you cry to ebay wanting a refund because the movement looked at you funny they will refund it. Just make sure its brand new.
>>
Fuck this shit. This isn't /g/. You guys aren't even talking about the technology in watch movements anymore, just cases.

In that case the seaforth is 12mm to the top of the sapphire dome, which means the case itself is around 9-10mm tall. 41mm diameter with the rotating bezel, and 47mm lug to lug. Unless you have literal girl wrists it should be small enough.

Otherwise, go vintage.

Dude, you are living in lala land. Why are you so dead set on having sapphire? Unless you're working on cars or something all day, I believe it's a bit overkill
>>
Is the Seagull 1963 actually any good? I really want a manual wind and a chronograph. What is its +/-?
>>
>>58901160
I don't know. I feel like I'm gonna be real anal if the crystal gets a visible scratch down the line. What's the non-sapphire choices out there?

Just buy an SKX013 and have an aftermarket sapphire put in by a local watchmaker. Should run you less than $300 total.

Not quite. They're both tuning fork watches. The accutron runs at 360 Hz, and the Ultronic (and the Omega version as well) run at 300Hz. The tuning fork in the ESA 9162 is shaped differently (more symmetric) to make it more immune to shocks, and the index wheel was redesigned.

Pic showing a spectrograph of the Bulova and the Longines - note the distinct peaks at 300 and 360.

Search Corgeut diver on eBay of ali-express. It fits all your criteria, and mines been worn daily since November and it's still kicking ass.
>>
>>58903898
Was actually at Kenjo today to get my ultronic sized. They were pretty picked over but had some Grand Seiko, Omega, Ball stuff. Also in the used watches, a vintage Patek, vintage Vacheron, vintage UN, and a 2010 Hamilton Pulsomatic.
>>
>>58904699
Do not get a 1963 Sapphire. A vintage styled watch like that pairs much better with the acrylic crystal.

>>58903919
QC on ST19xx watches is very inconsistent unfortunately. I'd say it's rare you get worse than a minute per day. But also be prepared for the reality that the pushers may stop working, the reset may starting having issues, etc. I just had to take my ST1940 in for its second service in six months.

Lurk /wt/ and watchuseek /f29/. Be able to identify every watch posted; if you can't, google it and learn about it. That's a pretty good start.

The tuning fork has a little arm attached to it that controls what is basically an escape wheel; as the fork moves in and out, the arm allows the escape wheel to advance.

What puzzles me about this watch is the fact that Diesel (or their designer) thought that a 30 meter water resistance is a merit to print on the dial. What the fuck.
>>
>>58899377
For me, getting a diver is a non-brainer really, given my line of work. I work as a roadie/tech, so I need to have a watch that can stand a beating plus it has to be totally submersible because of where I live. Its pretty much just nice to know that your watch can withstand whatever you throw at it.
>>
>>58906247
What model would you recommend?
>>
>>58906681
Anyone buying that thing doesn't know what water resistance means on a watch

Amphibia classic in any case. I like the 420 case line.
