I've got a PG279Q which has the same panel as the XB271HU but with a better OSD and smaller bottom bezel. If you're willing to spend the money it's great, but g-sync is definitely meme-tier

what are you even getting at? it's common knowledge that free/gsync technology is best used on 60hz refresh rates, it's where you see the most impact on performance outside of eliminating tearing for high refresh rates.
if you're trying to say that AMD can't push 144hz to full utilize freesync then you're greatly mistaken. i'd rather have an rx480+1080p freesync set up over a 1060+no gsync set up.

if you've never used gsync/freesync then there's no point in telling you. you're better off asking mommy for a ride to your local computer store so you can see it yourself.
inj laymans terms, it essentially makes 60fps look as smooth as 75 fps, and makes 40 fps look like 60 fps so dips in framefrate become less apparent. it may sound like not a big deal but everyone who actually has tried it or owns a free/gsync monitor will tell you it's absolutely worth it.
