Is this the best laptop ever made?

Just bought one and holy fuck, it's amazing.

I'm seriously digging the battery life on this damn thing. 12 fucking hours? What the fuck.

I bought a thinkpad after owning a macbook and I laugh my ass off at how gullible I was. Those autistic faggots don't know what they are missing. The apple trackpad tosses the salad of every other laptop.

Macbook Pro 2015 is objectively the best model released in the last few years.

Why is Applel such a fucking joke? Even Acer makes better laptops.
>>
>>58743729
>Shitposting for free

The tjmax on the CPUs in the 2015 macbook pro is 105c. Until I see some legitimate evidence it even can throttle with its current thermal solution.

If it is throttling then it needs repairs.

BTW they throttle on purpose when there is a hardware fault. So idiots who think it's throttling because it "sucks" need to stop dropping crumbs and sweat in their keyboard.
>>
>>58743732
>Next one's gonna have the piece of shit keyboard,
well, atleast it got a little better on the 2016 rMBP compared to the Macbook one, so I'm hoping it'll get somehow usable with the next iteration

>>58743820
The 2016 Macbook Pro has an extremely shallow keyboard that feels cheap and ...shitty to type on.

I've got a microcenter near here, where I went and typed on the display model and it's fucking awful.

It feels a lot like the 12" macbook's keyboard they released in 2014.
>>
>>58743835
That's too bad. I was thinking of getting one.
>>
>>58743835
won't you just get used to it?
>>
>>58743835
That's because it is
>>
>>58743860
I wanted to get one, the touch bar IS pretty intuitive and handy, and touch ID on a macbook is great....But that god damn keyboard. Fuck.

>>58743865
Nah, it just feels so fucking cheap. I'm pretty picky about what I type on. Some people might, but I'm pretty much never gonna buy a macbook that has that style of shit keyboard on it.
>>
>>58743835

this

when i was at the apple store i thought i was using the macbook air or someolder version of the mbp when i was typing on it. Wtf was apple thinking?

Should I get the entry model without the touch bar, or the one for 400 dollars more with the touch bar and 1ghz extra speed? Since it is such a large purchase I wouldn't want to make a mistake.
>>
It's shit because I'm poor.
>>
>>58743913
I feel like the touch bar is worth it, but the keyboard kills the deal. If you have a macstore or microcenter or friez electionics within driving distance, go fucking type on one and see if you can deal.

Also they raised the prices on 2016 macbooks, which sucks. Get the 2015. You'll be happier, I think.
>>
>>58743820
>>58743835
I wish they'd just drop the "new revolutionary flat keyboard design", but we all know that's not going to happen

They went full retard this model with the unnecessarily huge trackpad, flat keyboard, touchbar meme, smaller battery and not to mention the dongle hell. Heck, I even miss the dumb glowing apple logo.

I guess I'll just end up jumping the ship.

>>58743865
yeah, that's exactly why I'm paying extra for a premium laptop, so I can maybe get used to its shitty abomination of a keyboard
>>
>>58743913
isn't the model without touchbar the old 2k15 model?
>>
>>58743505
Gonna need proof
>>
>>58743913
Doesn't make a difference since it'll throttle to 800mhz either way if you try to watch a youtube video.
>>
>>58743913

you don't need the touch bar. it's dumb. nobody uses it. people only get it to look edgy. doesn't enhance your UX at all.

get a high end 2015 model, bud. they're better machines with more ports.

it's running 46c right now, gets as low as 30c. Highest I've seen it was 83c while playing Fallout 4 on medium settings @ 45 fps.

Look it up, the tjmax on these CPUs is 105c. It's pretty much impossible to throttle unless something is physically wrong and it needs repair.

Fuck the 2013s don't even get that hot under load
It's only every single 15" with a dgpu (excluding the 2016 one somehow).

15" is liquid dogshit 100% though

want a 15" with a dgpu that doesn't throttle under load? You have 2 options
1. any 2016.
2. a 2012 with turbo boost turned off.
>>58744040
to be fair his computer was absolutely fucked
most 2013/14s don't throttle until like 20 minutes under load and they rarely go below 2ghz when throttling.
and turning off turbo boost usually prevents them from throttling at all.
>>58744068

>>
>>58746437
Personally, Yes I think it is, but this is a personal decision you have to make for yourself. If you strongly prefer mechanical keyboards and you care what the keys you type on feels like then you're probably going to fucking hate the 2016 mbp's keyboard.

the keys feel like flakes of plastic delicately suspended over more flakes of plastic.

How can I remove itunes? Wanted to buy mac but don't want to have my mp3-s removed by it
>>
>>58746581
You do what you do on any other computer. You make a small 10-15GB partition for the system, and you store all of your other files on the other part of the drive. That way you can keep your personal data safe in case the system gets fucked. In my case, I needed room for a lot of applications and stuff, so my OS is on a 275GB SSD and I keep a 1TB HDD in the spot where my CD/DVD drive used to be.

To uninstall the iTunes app, you just right click, select "get info", and change app permissions to read/write for everyone. Then you can drag it to the trash.

OSX has a lot of Unix utilities in it that make it very productive for programming/web design.

I find that when it comes to standard office productivity windows blows them out of the water especially recently with how many apps there are for windows 10.

Apples design was until this year far better than any other companies. I know /g/ doesn't really value design beyond Thinkpads and utility but Ive's is pretty smart when he has someone smacking him around.

OP, The Macbook Pro is an excellent Laptop Computer. The Macbook Pro is by far the best option in Laptop Computers at the moment.

I have an iMac and an iBook G4(The iBook G4 is classed as vintage now and is in beautiful condition). I also have an IBM logo Thinkpad X60s as well. The only Computers I will use are Apple and IBM/Lenovo.

By far the best Desktop Computer on the market is the iMac. Apple and IBM/Lenovo Computers are far superior to everything else.

You will get so much enjoyment and productivity done with the Macbook Pro, OP.

1) Is it a wise decision to purchase a 2015 13" rMBP if everything checks out but there's no warranty left?

2) What is the maximum one should pay for a used late 2015 13" rMBP on craigslist?
>>
>>58759461
depends on the specs.

The highest I'd pay for a USED low-spec rMBP 2015 would be around 800-900 dollars.

If it's like, the i7, and 512gb of ssd, and 16gb RAM, then probably closer to 1600-2000

Run the hardware diagnostic in front of them before you give them cash, verify the model number to make sure its ACTUALLY a 2015 (Seen too many scammers or idiots trying to sell 2013 or 2014 rMBP's as 2015s.)

Don't listen to the neckbeards, the mbp is totally worth it if it's in your comfortable price range.

Sure, there might be faster alternatives, but the sheer quality of it makes it worth the money. It has exceptionally good build quality, the keyboard and trackpad are fantastic, good battery life, gorgeous screen, blazing fast due the m.2 ssd and it's overall comfy as hell. It's all a laptop is supposed to be and more.

I'll admit, I used to hate apple, but damn, they made me change my mind with the 2015 mbp. I've bought the 13 inch model last year and I've been in love with it ever since.

Got a general question about my macbook air, just wondering if anyone has any ideas.

It's a 2014 mba, I've got El Capitan and Mavericks on it. When I'm on El Capitan, the battery drops by about 10% a day while asleep, whereas with mavericks I can not touch it for a week and it won't lose charge.

Am I doing something wrong here, or is this normal behaviour?

All machined aluminum unibody design, god-tier screen, CPU's and RAM Specifically engineered to work with the software installed on the machine? 10+ hours of battery life?

Their current Macbook and Macbook Air lines are dog trash, but the Macbook Pro is a god tier machine. Is it priced higher than similarly made items? Yeah, it it is, but that's just a marketing brand name tax, when you compare it against similar machines, like Latitudes and HP Pro books.

I use a 2009 MacBook Pro. A couple of years ago, it was slow as shit. An SSD and some extra RAM later and it's good as new. MacOS alone (although you won't notice just how much better it is right away and will need some time to adjust)

On the hardware side it's a godly trackpad and 16:10 screen. Also they generally tend not to have big flaws, while the average Windows laptop either have some firmware issues, a shitty trackpad, a shitty screen or a shitty battery life.

>>
>>58766460

I do own a Mac, it's MBP 2012 that I got used. There's almost no reason to buy one of these machines new since a decent spec MBP costs around 1.2k-1.7k aka the price of a really good desktop, yet you're paying for considerably less performance. I'd rather spend less and buy an older used model or deal with Windows, use linux, or turn it into a hackintosh on a decently priced laptop.

>>
>>58766520
It's not like an used one is that much cheaper with Applel, besides the battery life will be affected and that's important for students.

>aka the price of a really good desktop, yet you're paying for considerably less performance
That's given even with a shitty cheap laptops but missing the point. Mobility is simply more expensive, especially if you want it done well and not with some crippled trackpad that forces you to use the mouse. Besides, performance these days is not a biggie either way. A core m laptop would suffice for 99% of students and people using a computer.

>or deal with Windows, use linux, or turn it into a hackintosh on a decently priced laptop
All either costs time or comfort (which also costs time) or time and comfort in case of Hackintosh due the shitty support for wifi cards. Although for CS students Loonix should do just fine too, even though Mac would be optimal if you need to work with 3 OS's.

A REALLY cheap ThinkPad would make some sense if one doesn't mind the weight but if you're willing to spend more, everything but some macbook, whether new or refurbished is a waste of money.

Though even with new ones that are REALLY expensive for a laptop, I don't get the focus on price. Any student should be able to make enough money to buy one after 2 months max unless they suck at budgeting. Spending a bit more on something you'll keep for years and have never to worry about again is a good deal.

>>

USB C will be godly in the future while USB A ports will become obsolete, so unless you have tons of outdated shit you have to connect to your laptop, it's not really a big deal either way.

The touchbar is indeed stupid without feedback like on the trackpad but fingerprint sensor is pretty sweet. Besides, you can get one without.

The only downside with 2016 version is the silly price.

Sure I guess, seems like the screen would be too small, and I would definitely not be okay playing any MMO on a machine with a patently weak cpu, since most of them are extremely cpu reliant, unless i guess you don't mind playing on the lowest settings and at 30 frames a second or less.

Meh, I remember playing WoW with mid settings on a laptop with Core 2 Duo SU7300 and all the 1.3Ghz without boost it had just fine. Sure it was before they updated their engine but the CPU is pure dogshit and even way below Core M. (Which would be fine for light gaming too if not the passive cooling)

The FPS would probably go down to 30 or even lower in huge raids (unless you tweak effects) or cities but beyond that it should be perfectly fine. You're overestimating the hardware requirements of most games.

Now screen size, that's up to preference of course. I found my 12" screen pretty comfy for slower games like WoW, Lotro or DA Origins while something like CoD 4 or Stalker was ... not very enjoyable. Though 14" is a lot bigger, so should be fine after some getting used to.

Unless he plans it to buy mainly for gaming, it's not a bad idea.

The first gen is by NO means a gaming laptop but if you don't mind playing at 1440x900 at medium you can play shit like Rocket league at 60FPS and and less demanding shit works fine. I was even able to get MGSV to work at 1440x900 medium at 30FPS. It's good for those rare nights you're in a hotel or visiting family or something. New version has a 965M that's probably better for gaming

Bitch I run heavy duty analytics loads all day on mine (all 8 hardware threads at 100%) and I can watch the CPU clock while I do it. No drops at all.

I had a thinkpad for some years, it was a 2010 model iirc. It served me damn well but the backlight died and I was too lazy to get it fixed, instead opting to just buy a used thinkpad x220 since at that point I wasn't using the mbp for anything besides shitposting.

But I did. And didn't like it. To each their own but the nipple is much better in my opinion.

I know several who prefer both. I like the one of the mac most of all and never ever liked track points

Where can I buy a good quality Macbook Pro for less than a grand?
>>

The meter says 9 hours, people online are saying it has great battery life compared to the competition, and the 15w cpu helps I'm sure

>>58773542
But yeah I agree about the display, I don't know what the fuck to do with a 16:9 screen in a resolution that no 16:9 videos exist in
And not only is it 1800p, but 13 inches too

Craigslist or whatever equivalent you can find if you are outside the states
Ebay
Etc
Just look for sellers that accept refunds
Ebay takes very seriously their consumers rights and fucks sellers selling broken stuff that's was described as working condition and such
Make sure you contact the seller before and he assures you that the laptop is in in good condition (except maybe some use like bent corners, a lot of macbook have that issue). You have to get him to tell you that the screen doesn't have any issue, neither the mobo hdd or ssd cpu etc

I'm king of glad the new macbook exists. I hope more laptops get into the full usb-c/tdb 3 frenzy so we finally get rid of the old usb. Especially the 2.0 still widely going on audio interfaces.

Apple always influenced the market by doing something copletely different despite being totally overpriced garbage.
