Yeah, I meet lots of girls, but at an engineering school 99% of them are ham planets. Would not recommend.

No
Who cares, one more thing that would take me away from work
I'm planing to go into network engineering so getting a CS degree (read as programming certificate) is pretty useless to me, so I'm dropping out soon.

yeah I got one more. I am from europe but I'm thinking about applying to a US college. Is it worth the trouble?
>>

As autistic as this sounds, this is a key reason why men are more successful than women. Men get their jollies from success, and women get their jollies from social status.

Girls may go to the engineering intro class course but soon they realize Engineering isnt Big Bang Theory and drop it. Women can't or like the math involved with engineering. Plus men are more creative than females so make better engineers.

I work at one.

I see many girls around campus, but don't meet them.

For me college was with it. It would be easy for to not be worth it though: for profit universites, and sub par programs really suck every ounce of with out of it. Look up what they teach in the program you want. Ask questions, then decide.
>>
Any CS majors that had 0 programming experience going in? I'd like to learn but have had trouble learning on my own. I'm wondering if going to college for CS would help me get started.

Yeah, it's OK.
My university has a 7:3 male:female ratio, the only time you see many girls in CS is when you're taking the People and Media courses, which are the vidya meme courses for literal redditors who couldn't give a shit about CS in any other context.

Not me but my brother has zero programming experience. He's in his first year and doing well. You need passion and dedication to want to learn on your own, but you can definitely get into a CS major with zero experience. It's just a matter of learning and using the school as a resource to formalize your education.
>>
>>58680599
I had only done the Python codecademy course and a few tiny projects before going in. I'm doing great in Computer Engineering. Just got a 17 (out of 20) on my Functional Programming exam, fuck yes.

If there are girls in computer science, I am surprised.

When I did undergrad it was almost all smelly, non-deodorant wearing males.

If you take some non-CS courses, you can easily see the difference.
>>
How to get girl while CS?

I guess finish school make $ then tinder?... sigh

Programming really is a hit or miss. I got straight A's from all programming courses and had never programmed before university. Some people seemed to never understand it.

BTW, how do you lads take notes?

I'm thinking about getting a tablet to ditch paper in lectures, but I'm not so sure, mostly because I've sweaty hands my notes get ruined very quickly
>>
>What are you studying

Electrical Engineering

>Is it worth it

Fun experience, plus lots of companies offer decent student discounts.

Though, I'd only recommend going if you already know what you want to end up being.

>Do you get to meet girls in your college life

If your not a sperg there are plenty of ways to meet girls in college. Joining clubs, the gym (my college has a 24/7 gym open to all students), or you could go to the library where people go to study to hit on a girl. Plus, you have classes with them. As long as your not autistic around them you have a shot.
>>
I got a degree in computer science recently and I can absolutely tell you yes in my case it was very much worth it.
>>
>>58679215
Computer Science
Yes, but the first two years were not (Counselors had no idea what they were doing and gave me the wrong course outlines)

OP, >>58685632 here. I just had another idea. You need to start participating in programming competitions. I guarantee you your college will have a competitive programming club or something. Find it and join. My school participated in ACM's ICPC every year. I only learned about it after I had studied two years, which was unfortunate.

Also, do Google Code Jam. Then look for emails later that year from Google Code Jam asking like, "what did you think?" or feedback, or emails asking if you wanted to talk about your experience doing Code Jam. This is how Google tries to see if you're interested in working there. You can get the ball rolling this way and set up those phone interviews.
>>
yeah, aint getting no pussy in software engineering.

not that I would be getting pussy anyway, but yeah. it's a total fucking white sausage fest here at my university. average state school btw.
>>
CS

No, it costs way too much (Americuck)

I have a gf. there's plenty opportunity to meet girls if I was single, but I don't because gf is better than all other girls combined
