Apparently this simple movement Timex developed for their disposable military watches, someone on WUS called it "#24 calibre".
After so many years it's working precisely though. The sweeping is smoother than on an Amphibia which is surprising.
The case of the watch is made of plastic which it's a cool factor imo.

Anybody know anything about this watch/brand?

Hand-wind, picked it up on ebay for like $25 because I liked the aesthetic. Might swap the strap for a metal bracelet though.

>>

If you're buying a watch with a 2824 or sw200 for the movement, it should be in the $300 neighborhood.
>>
>>58489431

You just spin the dial so that the hour hand in your time zone is aligned, and then you can reference the other cities and their position on the clock face to determine what time it is there.

For example, right now in US Eastern time it's 7:10PM, so I spin "New York" to be at the 7:00 position. Then I can see that Tokyo is at the 9:00 position. Because New York was in silver and Tokyo is in red, you swap AM/PM.

So I can know that if it's 7:10PM in New York, it's 9:10AM in Tokyo.

Who is Invicta Watch Group?
Meaning “invincible” in Latin, Invicta watches were actually made as early as 1837. Founder Raphael Picard wanted to bring people high quality Swiss watches at affordable prices. The company began its history in La Chaux-de-fonds, Switzerland – a land well-known for its watch making endeavors.
Swiss watches have been highly coveted by many parts of the world, and Invicta watches picked up in popularity. The name was well known and well established for more than a century. In the history of Invicta watch, one thing has remained constant: Invicta watches are known for their quality and beautiful design. This is as true today as it was a century ago.
Sadly, the “quartz invasion” of the 1970s pushed Invicta watches out of the picture. Invicta watches all but disappeared. It looked like the long history of Invicta watches had finally come to an end.
The History of Invicta Watch Group, Today
The good news is, the history of Invicta Watch Group does not end with the 1970s. In 1991, the descendants of the original Invicta watch name re-formed the company. Today, Invicta watch group is dedicated to bringing you high quality watches that are still affordable and beautiful in design – the same commitment that Invicta Watch was known for more than a century ago.
“In 1837, Invicta handcrafted its first watches with the belief that fine Swiss timepieces could be offered at modest prices. Today, powered by that same maverick spirit, the once-tiny company has become a fire-breathing dragon, worshiped by collectors, but feared by the rest of the watchmaking industry. In 1991, descendants of the Invicta family re-established the brand holding firm to the company’s founding principle. With rebellious zeal, they quickly recognized that Invicta could give a large segment of the watch-buying public that had long been ignored by other companies, unprecedented access to the fine Swiss quality they lusted for, at prices well within their reach.
>>
>>58490454
fuck me anon you got the bargain of the decade right there $4500 off that thing
and 1km water resistance thats better than any rolex
>>
>>58490529
Today, Invicta watches are growing in popularity. With many varied styles and types of beautifully-crafted watches, Invicta Watch Group is dedicated to bringing you the very best at prices that anyone can afford. Invicta Watch Group uses cutting-edge technology and the best possible materials to make their watches, including anti-reflective sapphire crystals.
With many different product lines, Invicta Watch Group has something to please everyone. The Angel, Pro Diver, and Elite lines are some of Invicta Watch Group’s most popular. Every year, Invicta Watch Group strives to bring original, beautifully designed watches out of production for consumers.
When it comes to quality, Invicta Watch Group is definitely a name that you can trust. Why shouldn’t everyone be able to afford high-quality, carefully crafted, beautifully designed Swiss watches? That’s Invicta’s goal, and they do it very well.
After all, Invicta Watch Group is one of the fastest-growing names in the watch making industry. The History of Invicta Watch Group, and the quality of the watches that they produce, should speak for themselves. Invicta Watch Group is a name you can trust for high-quality, fashionable timepieces.

Can't believe you guys are against a fine swiss company that deliver quality watches at a fair price, while you like and approve of shitty gaudy Russian slav watches and plastic toy casios... What's the deal?

>Fire and wind come from the sky, from the gods of the sky. But Crom is your god, Crom and he lives in the earth. Once, giants lived in the Earth, Conan. And in the darkness of chaos, they fooled Crom, and they took from him the enigma of steel. Crom was angered. And the Earth shook. Fire and wind struck down these giants, and they threw their bodies into the waters, but in their rage, the gods forgot the secret of steel and left it on the battlefield. We who found it are just men. Not gods. Not giants. Just men. The secret of steel has always carried with it a mystery. You must learn its riddle, Conan. You must learn its discipline. For no one - no one in this world can you trust. Not men, not women, not beasts... This you can trust.

I have a feeling that the most expensive watch companies are run by the same people who control the diamond industry. You know that diamonds are completely worthless and very common they have to destroy tons of them each year to make the supply artificially low. Its the same with these "fine time pieces". Look guys it's solid gold and there's only 500 in existence! It can be yours for the low price of 300,000$ don't worry these are made by master watch craftsmen who have been trained since birth in the mystical art of horology. Nah bullshit your fine time pieces don't cost more than 1000$ to make. They have 10000%-100000% profit margins. The only reason they're so expensive is because the demand is very low, 99% of the population cannot afford turbo expensive watches. Strictly for the egotistical rich men who believe it is the finest clock money can buy and they will be able to tell time more accurately than All the plebs.

39mm for the Explorer is too big anyway. A no complications watch has no justification for being that size.

I would get the 14270 and have a watch that is probably going t go up significantly in value when people realize in another decade or so how fucking retarded this trend towards wrist wall clocks is.

Because it's marketed based on it's US army heritage and it's Swiss movement while it no longer has any connection to the US and uses the very bare minimum of Swiss stuff to be legally allowed to call itself "Swiss made".

And because the company still is incompetent enough to fuck up a classic design.

The ETA 2892-A2 is in a different league than the ETA 2824-2 and the Sellita equivalents (the SW 210 is just a hand wind only version of the SW200).

The ETA 2892-A2 has very good inherent accuracy and doesn't have the issues with excessive wear from handwinding that the 2824-2 can, as far as I know.

It's also a significantly thinner movement than the 2824-2.

>>58502876

To add a bit more to that, the ETA 2892-A2 is one of four greatest volume produced three hand automatic date or day/date movements that were developed in the 1970s before the quartz revolution took hold.

There movements were developed when things like accuracy still actually mattered to mechanical movement makers and when serious engineering efforts were spent on making these movements as accurate, finely adjustable, shock resistant, and reliable as humanly possible.

The four movements are the Omega 56x/75x, the Rolex 3035, the Seiko 52xx and the ETA 2892-A2.

These four movements have, on balance, still not really been improved upon virtually at all since then, with the exception of Rolex moving to a brand wide +/- 2s/d regulation on their newest evolution of the 303x design.

Also, I'm not laughing when I said 31mm. I once knew a guy who's wrist was so tiny I could hardly believe it. 31mm was very good on him as well. Even one of their older 30mm might be something to look at.

Good call nineball:)

Well im the fag who also is unsure about the meistersingers if you've been paying attention to the threads recently. I see that the pangea models use the ETA 2892-A2 but local retailers sell those for 3000$ which is ridiculous isnt it?

Maybe I am being unreasonable. I want to delve past slightly better quality Orients and Seikos in the 400~ range and am willing to spend around 1500~ Canabucks I think but pic related is beautiful and basically my dream watch.

sinn 556 and 104 are great watches in the price range

top grade 2824-2, shock resistant, anti-magnetic (at least a little) and 200m water resistant

The 556 is beautiful thank you. When it comes to movements, the 2824 is "good" so to speak? Above your average orient ?

>>58506045
You could get a gray market GS quartz for just above your price range last time I checked.

You could get a COSC Mido or Tissot new for around 1k USD. You could get an 8R seiko chronograph with the triple vertical clutches for about the same price.

But that's most of what I would consider stand-out brand new around your price range. Otherwise vintage is where you can get good stuff.

I'm a fan of Sinn and the 556 is a nice little watch but you're not getting what they've built their reputation on in that particular watch.

i've had a 556i for a few months now, it's from dec 2014 and runs at chronometer accuracy

it's my first bigger watch purchase so i don't really have anything to compare the quality with but it's perfect to me

just the outer AR scratches and smudges easily (but you can remove it) and the lume is pretty bad

I'm considering the Timex Expedition Field Shock. I'm poor as fuck and need a watch that'll handle being beaten to shit.

Does anyone have any experience with this watch? How strong is it exactly? I'm worried about the hands being flimsy.

Don't do this. This isn't facebook.

>>58506599
Sinn has a thing. Its thing is german over-engineering with tegimented cases, diamond pallets and copper-sulfate dehumidifying with viewing window to monitor its capacity.

That watch doesn't have any of it. You can pay for the Sinn name and style if you want. I wouldn't.

Other than the lugs being a little longer than expected, and the movement running a bit fast (~7-10 sec a day), I'm very satisfied with it. It's an extremely thin watch with bauhaus design so there isn't much to work with in terms of finishing, but what's there (case back fitting, etching, etc.) look pretty good. The movement decoration (mine has a display back) is beautiful. The dial is actually domed, and has a speckled silvery texture that can't really be seen in pictures. I did not find any flaw in the hands and markers finishing.
