Anyone knows for good sourcse of SKX bezels?

I'm searcing for smooth bezels but they all pretty much look the same and I'd like some more variety, pic related. Dagaz has none.

I may appreciate all metal bezels too but I'm not finding a single one.

Oh I fully intend to keep it functional anon.

I'm looking for more options because I want one thick enough to dig into it to fit some lume, or even a small enough tritium vial. I'm also considering knurling the edges to provide more grip. Those also have no ratchet system, which is an issue, though a thick gasket blocks them kinda.

Is pic related less digusting?

Would be easier to read if the hour hand was more distinct from the minute hand though.
>>
>>58473010
You also have to change the dial because one of the requirements for ISO 6425 is "It must include a time pre-selecting device, such as a unidirectional rotating bezel" so your watch can't bear the Diver's mark anymore.

>your watch can't bear the Diver's mark anymore

Can I get fined for that?

Still I'm a scuba diver and I certainly don't intend to dive with it, only faglords actually dive with anything other than a Casio. Don't even get me started on the suicidal retards actually using them over a dive computer.

Me, I just use my watch a lot every day and like to keep track of stuff. A mere arrow or dot is more than enough, I don't even need markings on the bezel.

Though I'm now considering swapping the dial for one with "chronomètre certifié" on it.

I know a few older chaps who still dive with a watch, simply because that's what they were trained to work on, and that's what they continue to use. They purely hobby dive now though. A few of them do own dive computers, but can't get into using them.

I guess to a degree preference takes effect, but obviously the deeper you go, the more a dive computer makes sense.

And here's the meme blue for comparison
>>
>>58473209
It's not a matter of depth, or length, but variation of those parameters. It's easy knowing how long you can remain at a set depth, it's harder when your depth keeps changing. And each dive affects the next, because a dive computer isn't just thrown aside after a dive, you note the dive data and set it back again for the next dive, and the more you dive, the more your computer tells you not to, and it eventually ends up flashing the little "don't get on a plane" icon, which killed so many proud divers who refused to use a dive computer.

Scuba diving is a highly risky activity, and just the idea of having an extra thing tied to your wrist which may get you stuck somewhere is retarded, and on that topic, nato and zulu straps are suicide. A dive computer is near mandatory today, and many will refuse to dive with you if you don't have one, because when you take risks, you become a risk for others.

And then every faglord ends up scratching his watch on sharp rocks on the first dive.
>>
>>58473298
Yeh. The chaps with computers only used them when they did some salvage work with a local firm a few years back, where the younger lads set them up and walked them through the operation. But when they go off on a diving holiday, usually Caribbean or Australia, they don't exactly get deep.

Fuck, the oldest of the group, in his 80s and still an avid diver, will not use anything other than his watch. And it is beat to fuck. I can't recall the name for the life of me, or model even, but he was issues with it when he was a navy diver some 50 years ago. He gets a new crystal every so often and calls it a day. I'll have to try grab a pic some time.

>>
>>58473448
>wow never heard about gona search it, sounds interesting
Planes are pressurized, but pressure drops slightly on a climb, and it's enough to get the bends even for someone that respected decomp temps.

>why?
Well imagine some part sticking out of a boat getting caught on your equipment and dragging you for hours. Or getting stuck on something underwater with a powerful current preventing you from freeing yourself.

Ideally all diving gear uses straps that can be released when under tension like quick release buckles and velcro, or be set to break past some strength and release you. Plastic/silicone straps, buckles and springbars will break easily, one piece nylon straps with classic buckles won't.

Obviously people will dive their whole lives with natos/zulus and be perfectly fine, but then there's been many deaths of people that got caught because of their gear and couldn't free themselves. That includes little cord bracelets you get for $1 on the beach.

I am moving to alaska and I need a watch.

It needs to be resistant to very cold temperatures, water resistant, I don't need it to handle a 100 meter dive or anything though. It should also be shock resistant. I want a watch that I can have and never have to replace for the rest of my life.

I'd prefer an analog face but anything visible is nice, especially in the dark. My budget is 200 dollars but something less than 150 is preferable as well.

I knew nothing about FP Journe except that it existed, sort of a watch noob, never got into the nitty gritty details. Googled it and it seems pretty amazing. How does one even pick out a watch when there are so many nice ones to choose from eh? No wonder Lawyer has so many haha.

Anyways I'm the guy with the 15202st, LOVING it still, zero regrets with it. I know I shouldn't even be looking at another watch so soon. But I find myself browsing rolexforums and these threads more than I should. Is FP Journe even easy to source and would they even discount it?

Screw down back, and crown, with decent seals pretty much guarantee 200m WR so long as you don't cheap on the crystal.
Where most watches are likely to fail in ISO testing (and thus lack the "Diver's" branding) are the heating then dunking, as this just fucks the metal in all sorts of ways.

I got this including the Rolex box + hang tag for $3900 which is a hell of a deal considering how great of condition this is in with all original everything.

Apparently it sat in a safe for most of it's life until the owner decided to sell it to the watch shop I bought it from, hence the nice condition.

Only problem I have is that it's horrendously slow (couple minutes a day) and definitely needs a service. I'm honestly considering bringing it to a independent local watch repair shop to service + regulate it as even though I have a one year warranty I do not fucking trust the postal service (or any packaging company) and even if I got everything back from package insurance I would really, really hate to lose this watch after all the pains I went through trying to find the exact one I want.

Their vintage mechanicals are incredibly nice for the price. I bought this Vietnam war plastic + acryllic crystal watch on an eBay auction for just 14€ shipped.
It arrived this morning and can't still believe I got such thing for such a ridiculous price, greatest bargain ever. I think it's gonna be my next favourite beater.
I wouldn't ever wear a quartz timex though, especially because of the TICK TICK TICK.

Why do so few manufacturers utilize Spring Drive type brakes? It doesn't keep the watch from being any less mechanical and complicated apart from replacing one component. I know Seiko probably has a patent for it but is it that limiting?

I just want an accurate automatic that has better aesthetics than Seiko. Seikos look like crap.
>>

There's than one swiss brand that does one.
The thing is that people who buy expensive watches today hate quartz, because cheap people can have it.

They do batches extremely irregularly and the 9015 movement supply issue has affected things too. Aevig is doing a second run of Huldras this year, keep an eye on that. I can recommend Borealis and Zelos for other ones to keep an eye on.

I tried a few Jaeger's on when I was a richfag - they all looked like dogshit.

The iWatch looks like dogshit.

I tried a few Cartier tanks out too - they looked like dogshit.

In answer 2 ur question - what are consistently voted the most patrician watches on earth, and what shape are they?

They're great.
"The name “Invicta” means invincible in Latin, and invincible describes their indestructible product well. The watches they produce are of outstanding quality; Swiss watches have always been prized. Invicta uses top-quality components to produces their watches, meaning that they last well and function efficiently."
>>
>>58487881
If you have the tools they can be modded very nicely. The movement is by far the best part of them.
>>
>>58487921
Okay what if I get this one? As far as I'm aware Rolex does not make an open heart version right? This is more of a homage
>>
>>58488074
Explain how so? Would I be able to get rid of the in invicta logo and make a custom dial?
>>
>>58488109
yeah you just have to mod the hands dial case and bracelet and you get a nice watch
easy right
>>
>>58488074
>The movement is by far the best part of them.
endless kek
>>
Does Seiko sell Spring Drive movements?
>>
>>58488117
I'm good at hands on stuff I'm sure I could pull it off. BUT I have noticed that custom parts for watches are expensive.. Like 30$ dials 20$ hands etc.. My main attraction to invicta is the affordable price.
>>
gf gave me a PX5007, its my first watch besides a teenager styled Swatch
what does wt think of it?
>>
>>58488074
Thanks for the idea, I looked online at modded invictas and I think I'll go ahead and try to do it. Than I'll post it here and nobody will know it's invicta:^)
>>
>>58488231
you could just buy a good watch in the first place
>>
>>58488156
You mean the movements alone? I doubt it.
>>
>>58488242
Imo most 200$ and below seikos and orients are ugly as fuck. I would know I just spent the last 2 days going through hundreds of eBay listings from lowest price to highest. And watches above 200$ are just off the table for me, not that I can't afford it but I personally can't see the value in it. All watches do the same thing, not trying to hate on anybody's hobbies or preferences but me personally I couldn't spend 1000$+ on a watch so that I can masturbate to the "fine precision" "superior craftsmanship" and "quality materials" I would much rather spend the money on my other hobbies such as fire arms or computers.
>>
>>58488157
By 'have the tools' I meant the equipment to grind off the logos or whatever it takes.
>>58488231
I know there is one anon who has made a couple. It is a fairly common watch to mod since on paper it looks good, but invicta so shamelessly copies Rolex.

>>58488136
Is there a better part to them?
>>
>>58488382

Lol you can do a simple face and hand swap.. Do all the invictas have the logo engraved on the side? If so that's a little obnoxious. I could buy one of those 30$ watch repair kits..

just now actually, so we'll see what they have to say.
i think the size will be ok, i'm pretty ham-wristed
>>
>>58488415
Well I just compared 2 pictures of them. To me the invicta looks nicer than the orient ray and it's almost 1/3rd of the price. For one I like the Rolex copies fine details such as the OB bezel, magnifying glass on date, date only vs day&date looks cleaner, and the hands being the same color. And there's something I just don't like about the orient logo invicta logo looks cleaner imo but I will be swapping the dial.
>>
>>58488542
Where are you seeing the invicta for $30? Heck, that would be worth it.

See if you can find some shots that demonstrate how good the finishing is.
>>
>>58488542
It's also carved into the side of the fucking case so I hope you like it more.
