Does anyone else get a headache from specific kind of headphones?

I got a set of X2s on Tuesday.
Wednesday, I wore them all day and my head and jaw just fucking ached.
I went back to my SHP9500s today and I'm already feeling better.

But the sound isn't the same. This sucks.
>>
>>58454881

are you using EQ on the SHP?
>>
>>58454881
You must have a phat noggin for X2's to do that. They clamp more than 9500's but still they're pretty light on it.

Though it might just be the circular pads rather than the oblong ones on the 9500's.
>>
>>58454913
No. I might as well go down that path, then. Save me money and pain.

What EQ settings do people suggest for the SHP?
>>
>>58454948
I have the X2s and my head feels alright. You must be some sort of goblin since they don't fit your head
>>
>>58454948

Everybody is different, use Appo Eq and use parametric filters, look for frequency spikes with Sinegen
>>
The HM5 pads looks comfy, but the mrspeaker alpha pads looks even more comfy.

Is there a way to get them in europe, or anything very similar to them?

Potentially. A 558 can be had for only $80. I'd take that over it because the highs arent nearly as grainy.

>Also why are there so many relatively good cheap chink IEMs and not full sized headphones?
Cheap to produce, high profit margin, easy to ship, large market.

There are a fair wack of good chink fullsize cans, though theyre just not nearly as good value for money as chink IEMs.
>>
>mids are recessed and treble is weak as well. X2 is a dark headphone.
is this true lads
>>
>>58456135

Yes. Mids/vocals are from a hallway, no detail in the treble, and the bass is just an uncontrolled fart cannon. Also, they're not comfortable for long periods of time, they're fuck huge.
>>

innerfidelity measurements say is v-shaped, it has mid bass, and normal sub-bass, the guide on /hpg/ say is bassy

>Audio DACs these days would trend to multi-bit delta-sigma
that's because these are the only audio specific chips available to mass producers.
Schiit are in a unique position of having enough money to obtain and utilise R-2R and not be handicapped by lack of quantity due to their RELATIVELY small market share. A larger producer can't obtain enough, and spending the money to make their own, well, thats reflected in prices.
R-2R is going to be next big 'thing' in DACs.
Everyone is realising 32bit and DSD are a waste of time. People just want 'clean' now.
Schiit are ahead of the trend here with the multibit.
Expect to see the chinks following suit shortly, with affordable R-2R DACs.

just to follow up, another reason manufacturers like delta sigma is because it allows them to put big fancy numbers on the spec sheet, like 768 kHz and 32 bits. Plebs think this is great. It's good marketing.
r-2r only requires 16bit 96khz for near perfect retrieval. when unwashed masses see 16bit 96khz they get scared.

thats what I was thinking. I like the airy sound but still unsure if the 598se might be better, I liked the sound on the closed back 598cs but the positional and soundstage were clustered and muddy. shit sounded behind me that was to the front, in games

never used equalizer, what can I do to even it out?

>>58458170
the earcups sag a bit but havent really been a problem to me. I do like how the wings dont rest on the top of my head, ive been complaining about that for years with other phones.

>>58458183
the sound is very airy, in a good way, , the soundstage is enourmous and fairly immersive too. I realyl do like the general sounds right out of the box, and for games the positional audio is fantastic.

you might see some reviews about lacking bass and it definitely does, theres not a big PUNCH to it and on some EDM its more a low note than a bass thump, but you can hear it. my current complaint is the highs might be too high for my taste, its a bit fatiguing.

can someone give me the skinny on the 598se? getting sick of returning shit but those might be a good midpoint between the muddy closed 598cs and the high pitched AD900x

I already asked in the last thread and did some more research now.
I'm going to buy a beyerdynamic DT 990 Premium 250 Ohm and aimed to get the FiiO Olympus 2 E10K as a DAC/Amp.

Now some people claim the E10K is "sufficient" while others claim it can't power the DT990 correctly as volume is not the deciding factor.

Are there other DACs/Amps roughly the same price range than the FiiO that are recommended for up to 250 Ohm or should I just go for the 32 Ohm variant of the DT990 and how much would I loose compared to the 250 ones.

if your dac works fine, you can get an objective2 self built kit or wait for a massdrop version again or a magni 2

if your dac is shit and you need a dac/amp, I don't think the fulla 2 has a much stronger amp and other than that there's no recommended dac amps in that budget

I'm putting together a new PC as well, so my DAC will be the one built into the onboard soundcard.
I figured that the fact the E10K gives you both a DAC and an AMP for ~100 makes them so highly recommended. I already looked at the Fulla 2 and as you said, there is little to no difference. I don't know how much impact the DAC has so maybe I trust the onboard one and get a Magni. The problem will be that I have nothing to compare the sound to.

Do my speakers work as an amp for my headphones? They have a volume knob that allows me to crank it considerably louder. Is this functionally the same as an amp?
Speakers are Labtec LCS-1016
Headphones are CB-1's
Also should I trade in the CB-1's for OB-1's? I'm undecided because then I would essentially be plugging speakers into speakers.

I'm looking for an a headphone amp that has pre-amp capabilities and a front-facing switch between the headphone and pre-amp. DAC okay, but not important.

Basically, I want to switch between headphones and speakers while leaving the headphones plugged in, so no Schiit stack.

Options I've found:
Micca Origen+ - really crappy drivers according to reviews, otherwise looks good. $110
JDS O2 AMP + JDS OL Switcher $160 or so
JDS Element - expensive, headphone/power switch is on the back - $320

Any other suggestions?

668B/669, both have the same drivers. 668B being Semi-open and 669 is closed. Theres also the Samson SR850/950 which are the same headphones with better pads/headband though with a non-detachable cable.

The ANC range and attenuation is rather impressive on the MDR-1000X from my subjective point of view. Some home appliances like dishwasher and washing machine almost disappeared when I put them on. They sound quite lacking without equalization(overly thick, lacking clarity) and passive attenuation is poor. Without power they sound awful, pic related. I think QC35 offers a better package.

Would be interesting to see measurements of the ANC circuitries with the new GRAS coupler and low noise microphone setup. How much self noise they generate and what is the amplitude and range of active attenuation.

Looking at grabbing K712 Pro, how do they compare to X2? Build qualty and comfort also.

I like my X2 but there seems to be a really fucked up design flaw, the screws that hold the cups become loose easily and there's no way to tighten them, especially on the left side. I had to get a replacement only one week after purchasing them because the left side became loose and this new pair is starting to have the same issue not even 5 days in.

Static sounds might be your source. Try them with another device like your phone or another computer.

I'd say only order one, and then see if you can hear an imbalance. Unless your 650's are quite old and use an older generation driver [not even sure if 650's had that or if it was just 580/600's], you shouldn't get any imbalance.

Sort of. Most Audeze headphones (LCD-1 and Sine are notable exceptions) follow the same target and lack gain from 2-10 kHz, but they often have strong response above 10kHz. It's not the usual "dark" sound.

The foam mod makes it more open right? How does that affect the sound? Isnt that make it lose bass?
>>
>>58470118
Slight low end reduction, more soundstage, and more highs.

Preferring the K712 over the K702 is legit, but th K712 is less accurate

ROCK Zircon
VSONIC VSD1S
Piston 3 original if you can find it
Tennmak Pro Dual Dynamic Driver (probably the most comfy)

Also, while you order IEMS get a bunch of foam tips as well (check the IEM nozzle or google it to find the right size). Comfiest tips by far.

I never really got the "accuracy" audiophile terminology. It's one of the more subjective things it seems.

Not him but there is a difference between boomy bass and tight for me, tight is more "accurate"

Isolate like mad

Either that or a pair of IEMs under construction hearing protection

I meant for me tight is more accurate, as in more like the real thing

The bass is definitely slightly different on the k712 compared to the k702. I wouldn't call it inaccurate.

MY NIKKUH
Bro, I'm lovin these cans, my MDR-V6 actually sounds muddy compared to these.

I'm ready to get some new earpads though, so whatchu thinkin
>>
>>58470890
Shure Alcantara pads. Pretty much the go-to unless you want isolation.
>>
>>58470921
I don't want pads that cut the little bass that these things have
What are good isolation ones?
>>
>>58470928
Brainwavz Hybrid pads. They dont play well with a lot of pads for some reason. Thicker pads usually dont work but the hybrids do well. Might want to ask on head-fi or plebbit.
>>
>>58470882
I'd say look for 662 evo, it should be in your budget with shipping
if you can't find it, look for th02, that should be a bit easier
if you can't/don't want to import, you're pretty fucked regardless
>>
>>58470961
I do like the cheaper price of the hybrids haha. I tend to slide one cup behind my ear, and the current pads are pinching like a bitch.

I might sound crazy, but I've taken these outside on walks and shit, and I've had no problem.

Thoughts on the KZ Ate?
I'm in the market for cheap IEMs I won't miss if I lose or get mugged by niggers, and the Ate seem to be the best choice.
Over ear cable and 25 bucks with next day shipping so I don't wait a month for Aliexpress.
Any others I should consider?

Repeating this with a higher budget. Considering the m50x, what alternatives are there?

K553 pro if you don't plan on going outside with them
MSR 7 if you plan on going outside with them

just so I'm certain you know this, 668b is bright with a bass boost to maybe even v shaped

Its okay amerifat you are used to your country and believe every other country has the same shit as you do, its not like that

you can if both sites have measured the two headphones and if both sites' coupler and compensation is known. that's the thing. they aren't consistent.

more open visually. that foam hardly blocks anything which is why i question its claimed effect(s).

the less shity with less bass are the akg k77
>>
>>58471403
so did you dislike the 668b.
Do they have too much treble and bass?
because if not, then you might want to stay with v shaped, if one of the two was too much you might want to go with bassy/bright respectively.

hey, /g/, just wondering: is there a need to 'break in' new headphones? i saw a post a while back about leaving your headphones on overnight with some sort of classical music or white noise turned up to do this. is this just a sick prank or a meme?
