Anyone have these?
What do you think of them?
I'm considering getting them alongside my DT 770 Pros. Only thing a bit worrying is the super low impedance, is that going to affect clearness of sound much or is it really not a big deal?
>>
>>58472078
Don't worry about impedance, they sound just as a clean with 10+ ohm output amps as they do out out of a phone. Their only downfall are the qc issues, it's pretty common for the left cup to come loose and screwing it back isn't an easy task.
>>
>poor Zeos' wife has to be careful in bed or she'll die, and the deaf mexilard won't hear her screams if he rolls on her
>>
>>58471615
Definitely not good, can't say about faggotry but he sure doesn't know his shit. Avoid for everything audio related. If you don't get nausea from the stupid GoPro cam and fat hands swinging around, stick for the unboxing if you need to know what is included. That's about it.
>>
>>58472078
Impedance does not correlate with how something sounds like. You can ignore the spec entirely.
>>
>>58472078
Don't worry for low impedance, those headphones aren't going to sound clear anyways, no matter what you link them to.
DT770 are V-shaped, X2 are dark. I'm surprised by the amount of people that mistake these two different sound profiles.
>>
>>58472635
These "sound profiles" are just extremely rough descriptions of the sound. Without understanding how to read a frequency response plot and tie that into how something sounds like, you can't really help much with words. So few people can listen and even less seem to be able to describe sound.
>>
>>58472490
I'm surprised he's even still mentioned in these threads anymore, once he started getting more expensive headphones his channel became "NO THIS IS THE BEST THING EVER" with every single video

to my knowledge he doesn't have a wife, I haven't seen any of his videos in awhile

Sorry if this is a too broad comparison.
I'm considering buying a pair of decent headphones. Here's the thing though, I'm completely new to the audiophile world. Because of that, I don't have an amp or DAC.

It does degrade the quality due to compression, bandwith and the bitrate. The protocol was never designed for stuff like audio. Sure there's ways to improve it with special codecs and wider bandwith but that's not something the available solutions use because they're aimed towards normies with nigger ears by dr dre who listen to poorly mastered music with low bitrate.

X2 aren't V-shaped. Get Beyerdynamics DT880 600 Ohm.
>>
>>58477976
>X2 aren't V-shaped
then what are they and why does so many people say they are
I swear, I've heard people say the x2's are everything from near neutral to slightly v shaped to bass cannons
>>
>>58478043
X2 are M shaped, they have no subbass, a fat bump in the midbass that makes them sound boomy, no midrange and then a treble spike.

If you want V-shaped get the DT990, the DT880 are unicorn shaped, they're pretty flat up to the treble region where they have a spike.
>>
>>58478060
I'm not that guy who originally brought up the x2's, but the 990's would probably be too v shaped for me. I want a bass cannon but too much treble is bad to me. I was thinking maybe the vmoda m100's

Does QC even exist over at the plant where these things are made? I know they're manufactured in China but god damn I've never experienced this kind of inconsistency with a single product.
I might stick with them since I still like the sound but I don't know if I can still recommend them to anyone if there's a chance that they'll have to go through three pairs just to get an "acceptable" product.

God you headphone general autists should really just kill yourselves. I'm a music producer and I'd recommend beats over any of the shit you guys recommend if they're just going to be used for listening to music.

Your tier list is great for people who need a flat frequency response and need to hear flaws in their sound(Producers, Mix/Mastering Engineers, Sound crew, audio technicians etc.) Anything other than that and you're wasting your money, you'll get a much better sound out of beats and other headphones that are DESIGNED FOR LISTENING.

>inb4 distortion
You are talking about clipping/over-compression. Believe it or not, there is more than one type of distortion. Some of the other distortion types include tape, tube, saturation, amp, etc. Harmonic distortion is what makes or breaks a track. For example, this track: [YouTube] Bones - HDMI (embed)
Normies would be like, OMG, so much bass xDxD. When in reality, the main synth drops around 3db when the distorted 808 comes in and the bell provides a good harmonic juxtaposition.

>"buuuuut why do beats drop off at 30hz, don't people want bass? HAHA PLEBS."

Everything under 30hz is mostly rumble, most producers cut around 30hz anyway. highpassing 30hz stops the rumble and cleans up the sound. If this wasn't done, the mix would become muddy on most systems.

>>
>>58480107
You made me doubt. When I just got the 668B I used to change the equalizer to have more bass but after a while I stopped bothering. Now considering the dt770 80 ohm and I read that it has a good amount of bass and I'm afraid that might be a bit too much. I listen to a wide range of music, but most of the time indie/prog rock/electronic rock (stuff like ratatat/emancipator)/classic rock/sometimes thrash metal, rarely symphonic metal
>>
>>58480238
if you had the 668b and added even more bass, definitely don't get the m40x

this is why I asked you if you thought some things were too much/too little

7506 has good bass that also equalizes well and it doesn't come with a lot out of the box. This allows you to play with the amount of bass using an equalizer, however it's also very bright, so if you didn't like the strong highs of the 668b ignore this.

xpt100/HM5 is pretty neutral but it has a pretty noticeable bass boost, I think this'll be best for you

DT770 is just balls to the walls fuck neutrality give me that V shape son
Since V shape is what most people tend to prefer, and because it's very well built and comfortable, this is probably the most recommended headphone over here

Hey headphone pros, my girlfriend who works at the airport dutyfree just gifted me this headphones that only has "Bacardi" written on it and on the pouch it came in.

Does anyone here know from what company this headphone might be?

Yes, there was nothing else than "Bacardi" written on it.

Speaking about the headphones, it sounds pretty dope and calls on it are fantastic in quality. Just curious. Also the pouch's really comfy to the touch.
>>
I've got exactly $70. From closed headphones, is CAL! my best choice?
>>

M40x are better, though not as comfy. I'd save up the extra ~$22 for some new HM5 pads and get some nice comfy cans. If you /really/ can't, CAL! are good. Not quite as well built, and not foldably, but otherwise they've got great sound for the money.

Hey guys I'm thinking of buying a DT 770 Pro 250 Ohm.

My DT 770 80 ohm (no amp) has this weird static sound when I launch any game. I close it and the sound is fine. Anyone know what's causing this, and how to fix it?
>>
>>58481376
try running benchmarks that aren't a game but require your cpu and gpu respectively

most likely it has nothing to do with a game, but rather because of electrical interference between components that only happen when they're stressed out, see games

this is especially possible on laptops I think, since they tend to use on board GPU for normal tasks and only use the actual GPU for tasks that require a lot of power
>>
>>58481440
So what do I do?
>>
>>58481451
run a cpu benchmark, check if it has the static
run a gpu benchmark, check if it has the static

google to find benchmarks, for example cinebench, which apparently has tests for both GPU & CPU
>>
>>58481522
Alright did the tests. No sound during the CPU render test but definitely a lot of whirring/buzzing sound during the OpenGL GPU test. So what do I do?
>>
>>58481606

>>
>>58481606
buy a dac
if you want to "waste" your money, buy some cheap dongle or whatever for 10 bucks
if you are prepared to put money into an upgrade for the future, get a dac/amp like fulla 2 or e10k

I assume you're on a laptop for the reasons I stated before, if you're not another option is getting a soundcard like xonar DGX
>>
>>58481643
>>58481662
Thanks. I'm on a desktop, but I guess I'll get something like the e10k.
>>
>>58481682
like I stated, the dac/amps won't do you much good at this point, other than fixing the static and being a bit louder and having a nice knob, but if you ever decide to upgrade, you'd have had to spend the money on an amp regardless, so you'll be glad you have one then.

>is there a NEED?

No, absolutely not. The internetz probably make too much of this. However... some headphones (and other audio products) WILL INDEED sound different when fresh-out-the-box versus having a few hours of play-time. Most of the time, any changes are subtle, but sometimes not. Different people have their own burn-in routines. White noise, classical, a compressed-as-hell FM radio station, a certain CD played on repeat... differing volume levels, etc, etc.

My Grados slowly became less bright/peaky/grainy. Philips Fidelio M1/mkII quickly became much less bass-heavy. Anyone with half their hearing could've detected this. They were straight up Beats-tier boomtastic and settled into a much more balanced sound signature after only an hour or so. Meanwhile, my Koss PortaPro and Philips SHP-9500 didn't seem to change much at all.

To give a short answer

These days, converter architectures besides delta-sigma for audio use are rare but are still very popular with higher bandwidth applications, which is about as much of a true statement as was given. Simply by theory of operation, delta-sigma is comparatively ill suited to high speed applications, oversampling factor is greater than what can be computed, as well as latency that renders it problematic for control system applications.
You can usually tell someone didn't look too carefully if they call the Schiit products "R-2R". They don't glitch like R-2R because they aren't.
R-2R and other binary converters were the norm before people got a handle on oversampling methods, as well as the necessary hardware to perform sample rate conversion in (almost) real time. The transition to delta-sigma in audio decades ago was motivated by both price and performance concerns; alternatives required extreme manufacturing precision beyond what is economical, waste a tremendous amount of die space, or both. R-2R has no chance to come back into mainstream audio if a meticulously laser trimmed converter can barely hold its own against a cheaper design with similar low power draw and costs less than a tenth of the price to put together.
Before anyone thinks otherwise, you can't put together a passable R-2R converter with SMD or through-hole resistors. It has to be on one die.
Input bit width doesn't reflect audio quality, a DAC accept any number of bits at once, not that people would ever get a clue. ENOB is more relevant, depending on how you define it, but the definition is not quite standard and it still leaves room for ambiguity. Sample rate input is also not limited to the underlying converter architecture either.

600's are god mode when you bend the metal part of the headband to loosen them. Look it up before you worry about breaking them . It's the easiest thing ever. All beyers touch your ears some what, and mine are small. 600's and 650's go completely around the ear. You can't beat them for comfort once the clamp is loosened
>>
>>58485921
>did you get the dt770m by any chance?
no, but I think its just the fact that they have a closed back, so my ears are completely sealed in. The clamp is all right after breaking it in, I just can't use it for more than maybe an hour or so. They're aren't too tight, at least not after stretching them a bit
>>
>>58485821
>Philips X2
Comfy with top tier pads, clamp isn't overbearing on big heads but still secures them on your head. The downside is the weight, they're heavy and that can be tiring for some people.

>BeyerDynamic DT 770
Comfy with average pads. The Pro model is considerably worse and clamps more. They're sealed so expect the experience to be more "nauseating".

Average pads and vice grip clamp, the worst from the bunch for larger heads, good for manlets and women though.

It's actually pretty neat-o. I tried it with my previous headphones (I'd had the ATH-m50 for 4 years), and the difference is noticeable even there. The sound stage is absolutely more open and airy, so separate instruments are more easily identified. Very cool stuff. I also took it to a friend's house who owns some HiFi man HE-6's which are notoriously hard to drive, and the mojo can take them to painful volume levels. And it's portable. And they have a unique DAC design. I honestly highly recommend it.

The target has switched over time and they use different target for IEMs and headphones. On the old target the ER-4S, HD 600 and SRH 940 were probably the best.

It performs well but it will not have any effect on soundstage or instrument separation. That is completely out of the domain of DA-converters and amplifiers.

I recently got these:
https://www.amazon.com/Beyerdynamic-DT990-PRO-250ohm-Straight/dp/B010IJ9W1U

Using this DAC / AMP:
https://www.amazon.com/M-Audio-Super-DAC-Converter-Headphone/dp/B00X67G4WM

They're breddy gud. Was a little worried the amp wouldn't push them using only USB power, but they'll get loud enough to hurt at 100%. Usually running them around 60-70% and it's plenty good.

Reason I got the MAudio DAC over something like the ODAC or others is because it has a quick switch to speakers, a speaker pass-through, and a nice volume knob. Everything turned out pretty good. I wish it sampled at a little higher bitrate but other than that and maybe more driver support, what else could you want? A better amp sure, but once you get into that price point, you're looking at a LOT of different stuff.

Compared to what? Yes if you have a parametric EQ and know how to use it.

You should all buy this instead of mojo.

>requiring battery charge to use
Absolutely disgusting. If you want to use mojo as desktop DAC you have to use 2 wires to charge while connecting, in which the heat will definitely burn your desk.

Is the HQ Upscaling option on Spotify worth using? Can't tell if it actually improves audio quality or just makes things sound over produced
>>
>>58489024

When you hear the small details at good volume (usually like a wisper) without hurting your hears, go from low volume and up, if you go from high to low youĀ“ll feel is too low, when is ok.

I fucking hate audiophiles. Fucking snake oil shilling placebo bullshit, fuck reddit, fuck headfi. Just money wasted, but joke's on me for being an idiot and listening to them. I'm no happier with $300 headphones + an amp/dac than I was with $65 headphones. I've bought 6 pairs of headphones in the last 2 years, trying and returning all but one, the cheapest one.

>Buy an X2, they're fun!

Channel imbalance problem, fuckhuge and uncomfortable. Recessed mids, no treble, flabby bass. Returned.

>Buy an HD600! Everybody loves those!
>Oh, and buy an amp to get the "most" out of them

Fucking death grips my head even after stretching them multiple times, and the amp provided a barely audible difference besides making them deafeningly loud. Certainly not $400 worth of improvement over my 7506. At least those don't give me migraines.

I can't imagine the buyer's remorse if I bought $1000+ headphones and amp/dac. I don't care how good they are, no way it's justifiable at that price. I hope you faggots all go deaf.

IEMs > Circumaural > Supraaural
>>
>>58471527
So /g/ I have a bit of a predicament...Looks like my onboard sound card finally crapped out on me enough to not properly drive my hd650.

What's the cheapest DAC/Amp option I can get to really make them sing again?

Will the FiiO e12 do it or do I need to go Magni 2 or something?
>>
>>58471634
It's mostly a sick prank. I could've sworn it's made a bit of a difference with a couple of my headphones but I still don't truly know if it's placebo or not.

My ultimatum is this. If they sound good at first, fantastic, keep them. If they don't?...you're shit out of luck because burn in will never make them sound "good". Burn in can only make good sound better. It can only make bad or mediocre sound slightly less so but it'll never make them sound great
>>
>>58472799
You did it way too loud then.

You're supposed to break them in at listening volume or just *slightly* higher.
>>
>>58491950

This matches my personal experience, but I would guess that for most people: IEM = Circumaural >Supraaural
>>
>>58477946
how long does a full charge last?
>>
>>58492012

It would be ok, but if you want to save go for the e10k or the micca origen+ if you want more features
>>
>>58477946

>whats /g/ think

That they're shit because bluetooth.

Lol nah, Jaybirds are one of the only recommended brands for bluetooth buds if you feel that you must go bluetooth. I have no experience with them because I love wires, but if they make you happy then you done good.
>>
>>58492079
First and foremost, I want to amp them properly. I don't mind spending just a little bit more if it means the extra bit of power to really let them shine.

I don't know the difference in spec between e10k and e12k. Thank you for the response though, I'll do my research and see which one has more juice first and foremost...
>>
What does /g use for daily listeners when you're out and about?

I grabbed the Creative Aurvana Live's recently and really dig them. Pretty neutral sound with nice definition, a slight bump in the bass but nothing overwhelming.

Really comfy and lightweight if you're gonna wear them for a while.
>>
>>58492110
X3ii with SE535 or ER4, depending on what I feel like using that particular day.
>>
>>58492110

I use Echobox Finder X1's, but when the reviews come in on their new flagship Nomads, I may grab those.

Once it stops being cold and shit outside, I may take my Campfire Lyra II's out of the house.
>>
>>58492094

HD650 are very efficient and donĀ“t need that much power, but go ahead an check for yourself i use then with my micca origen+ on low at 75% at most since i dont want to ruin my ears. I still have the hi option
>>
>>58492110

Galaxy note 3 with the msr7
>>
>>58471634
Yes, burn in is the real deal. The more a soundwave is played through a transducer, the easier it is to play that particular sound back.
If you mainly listen to weeb tracks, burning in with that will, in a sense, "optimise" that headphone for weeb tracks and sound better for that particular type of music compared to the same headphone but burnt in with, for example, classic rock.
>>
>>58492155
Is the micca origen+ an amp as well? On amazon it says only preamp.
EDIT: I'm trying my hd650 on green port and it is a bit of improvement so far. Soundstage is back...I still want to get a dedicated though cause it's not at *quite* 100% yet. I don't know what caused my ports to be all screwy. Weird.
>>
>>58492251
It's a meme though if you think it will change the actual sound signature all that much.
>>
>>58492274

It works as an amp or preamp, and can function as an amp via USB or coax/optical with an external power source (which is sold separately). I'm using one off my motherboard, shit is cash. I don't have anything really hard to drive but it does fantastic with barely any volume in low gain. I can only imagine what it would drive comfortably in high gain.
>>
>>58492302
Nice.
Hey I just looked at Schiit's site and they came out with the Fulla 2 as well. That might just be good enough too.

I guess so far it's between those 3(origen, e12, fulla) but they all look like solid choices atm.
>>
>>58492358

I have the origen+ and love the features, some other anon said the fulla2 has a better DAC so check them
>>
>>58492358

They all are, it's just a matter of what features you want and what you want to spend. For what it's worth, I was in the same boat (needed a simple dac/amp for use with my desktop) and I was between the e10k, Fulla2 and the Origen+. I went with the Origen+ and have no regrets.

As an owner of the mojo, it runs my 300ohm impedance headphones at normal levels while charging and remains comfortably warm. The battery is so it's portable, i.e. You can use it with your phone. So it can power anything and you can take it with you. My friend has trouble powering his he-6 with the geekout- it gets scary fucking hot. So there you go
